Le Reve Hotel and Spa is rated 4.6667 out of 5テつby 3.
Rated 4 out of 5テつby from Absolutely calm The hotel is small and very calm and the location is perfect far away from other crowded areas in Playa del Carmen or Cancテδコn. The food and drinks at the restaurant are fabulous, the price is good and the service very kind. Nevertheless, the part of the beach in front of the hotel is not the best, because is full of rocks. Besides, in case of bad weather the services of the hotel are poor so you will have to go out to another place. And last but not least, I would like to point out that they did not have any electrical adaptor and only 6 or 7 umbrellas for the whole hotel. In spite of everything we would go back to this hotel in the future in case of we go back to Riviera Maya

Rated 5 out of 5テつby from Quiet, peaceful, luxurious resort We booked one of the beachfront bungalows through LuxuryLink for a babymoon over the July 4th holiday. The package included breakfast at the hotel restaurant everday, welcome drinks (non-alcoholic), a bottle of wine and fruit upon arrival, and dinner at the hotel restaurant for one night which included another bottle of wine (the wine would have been great on most trips, but not as exciting on this one with a pregnant wife...) The bungalows are as good as what is pictured on the website. There are a total of 5, each with private plunge pools (which are amazing), each about 10 steps from the beach. When lounging on the back porch or in the plunge pool, the hotel staff would come by to take drink or food orders, so we didn't even have to go to the main pool bar if we didn't want to. The service was spectacular. This was a very small place - maybe 30 rooms in all. The restaurant, however, was spectacular. We didn't expect the quality to be so high for such a small place. The included breakfast each morning was a choice from a standard breakfast menu which included both American (pancakes, omelets) and Mexican (chilaquiles, huevos mutoテδアes) options. Every dish we tried (a total of 8 over the course of 4 days) was exceptional. Also included was coffee, fresh juice, toast/jelly, and pastries. We skipped lunch several days after such a filling breakfast. The one dinner we ate at the restaurant was a 3-course chef's menu which was also good (though not quite as good as the breakfast, I'd say). As mentioned earlier, the staff and service were great. Everyone from the front desk staff, to servers, to housekeeping were always smiling and willing to help wherever they could. For the most part, the staff spoke English well (which is great, since we don't speak a ton of Spanish).テつ There were only 3 downsides we could think of, and none of them would keep us from going back to Le Reve: 1. The bungalows were very much a part of the surrounding nature. As such we had a lot of small sugar ants in the room. They didn't really bother me too much, but my wife was not a fan. 2. There was wi-fi in the public areas (reception, restaurant, main pool), but not in the rooms. Since there was also no TVs in the bungalows, there were times we missed it.テつ 3. The road leading to the hotel is not paved for the last 1/2 mile or so. When we came it rained for a little bit every day, so the pot-holes and dips in the unpaved road became pools of water that became difficult to navigate at times. It never became muddy and the water was never deep enough to get stuck in (we were driving a tiny rental car, so I don't think anything would get stuck if we didn't), but it was a little unnerving at times. Overall, the experience at Le Reve was amazing. We wouldn't hesitate recommending it to family/friends, particularly because it was about 35% cheaper than any similar hotel we could find when we booked through LuxuryLink, and ended up being even nicer than the similar hotels we were considering (since these were directly on the beach and many others in the area with plunge pools are not directly on the beach). If you're hesitating for any reason, don't... you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5テつby from A gem This tiny boutique hotel, sandwiched between the mega rah-rah hotels along Playa Del Carmen is a wonderful find. テつWe were looking for relaxation, romance and a little self indulgence and La Reve delivered. The bungalow suites were well worth the extra money. テつWe loved the plunge pool and direct view and access to the beach. テつOur room was private and quiet, with a tall palapa ceiling and draped sheer surrounding the bed. テつWe found the bed to be extremely comfortable and appreciated the water pressure of the rainshower. With the exception of one slightly grumpy waiter, the hotel service was top notch. テつWe arrived late and were surprised and pleased to find the hotel had left a small meal for us in our room. テつThe hotel staff was always happy to accommodate our wishes - they even arranged for a private meal on the rooftop terrace of the bar. テつI think our server was Manuel, and he was terrific. テつI also thought the food was quite good for resort food, especially breakfast. テつThere is a good variety so we never tired of the menu. テつThe food is presented very well, and my only complaint is that the spiciness of the dishes was tame. テつI figure that is to accommodate foreigners who can't handle hot food. Any inconvenience we experienced was minor, although here is a short list that fussy travelers would probably like to know: WIFI is only available in the public areas, wear water shoes if you swim, the road to the hotel is a little tricky - look for the small La Reve signs to guide you. The hotel has many small amenities, such as a basket of sunscreen at the pool and free-to-borrow water shoes. テつEach day they change out terrycloth lounge covers at the pool and beach. テつAnd, unlike the big hotels, we never had to fight for a lounge chair. テつIn fact, we never had to deal with any sort of crowd issue. This is the polar opposite of the big hotels, so if you want high-energy "fun leaders" with whistles, drinking games and other hokey hotel entertainment, this is NOT the place for you. テつ Expect a quiet, relaxing experience in a property that pays attention to detail and service. テつIt is also stylish, visually attractive and well-cared for. I consider myself an experienced, world traveler and fine diner, and rarely write reviews more than a few lines, but this perfect little hotel deserves acclaim.
