We had a lovely week at the Blue Diamond resort. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of wildlife to see and paths through the jungle to natural lagoons and cenotes. The rooms are spread out over the property and are very comfortable and many have views out over the cenotes or lagoon. Our room was about mid-way to the beach and restaurants, a pleasant walk but unless you wanted to there was rarely a need to walk as there are many golf carts picking up passengers. Bicycles are available and had we been closer to the lobby at the far end of the property they would have been handy. The beach is nice and sandy and you can walk in either direction for a long stretch. The pool area is quite pretty though we did not spend a lot of time there preferring the beach unless the resident monkeys were visiting. We really enjoyed seeing them jump through the trees, along the railings or stop by the pool area for breakfast. I wondered if three restaurants would become repetitive by the end of the week but there was no issue there, the food at all of the restaurants was excellent. This is not a "party resort" but there are activities available, live music at times and evening festivals. The staff at the resort are very friendly and accommodating. A few particular standouts were Antonio at Ceviche who made sure that when we had breakfast or lunch on the deck by the beach that we were well looked after. Nelson at Mbar made wonderful pre or post dinner cocktails, Ivan and Javier offered great cocktails at the beach bar, and Ernesto at Ambar restaurant made sure dinner was an event and pointed out the local crocodiles that hang out in the lagoon the restaurant overlooks. Emmanuel at the beach would pull heavy umbrellas all the way down the beach without being asked with a smile on his face. We have stayed in several nice resorts in the area and this one is a standout.

This all inclusive has only three restaurants; however the food is excellent in every one of them. All the restaurants are al a carte, the service is well paced and the view from each restaurant is excellent. The rooms were large and beautifully done and our patio overlooked a lagoon. While relaxing on the patio we were visited by a variety of wildlife including two monkeys! The beach was beautiful too. It was very clean and never crowded. All the staff was friendly and helpful; especially the concierge in the office by the beach. (Francesca went above and beyond.) We'll definitely return

This was our third visit to BD and we will definitely be back again! This place is heavenly! It's quite, private and luxurious. We love the private beach area and it's a nice long beach to walk. There is no fighting over loungers here, they have beautiful cabanas and huge daybeds, all at no extra charge. We are foodies, and most of the dishes exceed our expectations. From the steak and seafood to the coconut shrimp to the sushi and fresh made to order breakfasts- all amazing and extreme high quality food! The booze is pretty good too :) Lots of prosecco, high end alcohol and decent wines available. The service is outstanding. We have a hard time going to other resorts (and high end ones) because they simply do not beat the atmosphere, the privacy and the service. Since we are return guests, we have noticed it's mostly all the same staff which is an indicator that it's a great place to work. The staff also remember us, even by name which is nice. We have stayed at the beachfront casita, the palafitos and a regular suite, all are very nice. If you like loud party places, this is not the place for you. It's quiet and romantic, there isn't much nightlife just the oceanfront bar or the cigar lounge where we enjoy a cigar or a hookah.Go! You will not be disappointed!

We were very impressed with the setting of this resort and our first impression was "Wow". We had a patio suite (the less expensive room) and we loved it!It felt secluded as the rooms are designed in a way to offer lots of privacy. The resort is very clean and there is lits if staff, I would easily say 1 staff member for each guest if not more (resort counts 128 rooms) The food was very good, all the fish dishes were exceptional, including the Tuna steak, mahi-mahi, the tuna tatar and the Ceviche! Turn down service is done every evening with a little bottle of water on each table side, very nice attentionšŸ˜Š!What prevented me from giving a 5 to this resort (I would have prefer to give it a 4.5 rather than 4) but here is why I did not give a perfect score of 5: 1) the premises need a little attention such as door that doesn't lock at the ladies room at the pool and toilet paper missing 2) sewage odours here and there when on the path leading to the rooms 3) it seemed we had to ask a few times for certain things before we could get them (might be a communication problem among staff-bottle of bubbly at the room, missing towels in the room and a few other little things) 4) we felt we had to tip to get a good service, it is our pleasure to tip but it does bring the price up. I would budget 20$ to 25$ US/day to get great service (meals, bar, snack and beach, etc) Which for us, Canadian is a lot of money (40% more) But if you know about it and put it in your budget, it's all good!! 5) we could not fill our outdoor bath ourselves (fausset problem) but when we called they came to do it for us (more tipping there...) Despite these minor details, we truly loved our trip and this is one of the Best all inclusive 5* resort we stayed in! I truly recommend it if you want to relax or for a special occasion! We are definitely going back!!

Our week at BD was thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. This resort as so much to offer including stunning ground settings around mangroves, Laguna, canals and cenote that are quite spectacular. On the positive side: Our room was beautiful, spacious and included a very large bathroom with rain showers, plenty of hot water and an exterior tub on a private balcony. Moving around this long resort was no problem as there was always a shuttle cart nearby. We used bicycles to get around and explored the entire property. The resort and beach are well maintained and manicured while the ocean water is inviting. There was no issue with access to the beach loungers and towels. Remarkable to us was the food quality, variety, proportion, presentation and ā€œa la carteā€ meals without reservations ā€“ no buffet for us ever. Kudos to all the cooks at Ambar and Aquamarine that are making this culinary experience a success. Also appreciated was the top shelf liquors and specialty drinks at the bars. Special thanks to the gracious and welcoming staff that attended to our needs during the week. They all made a great impression and notably Luis at Ambar, the two Pedroā€™s and Marcela at Aquamarine, Javer at the Ceviche bar, Araceli and Jose Luis at the client relations desk. Some negative: The A/C was not performing and the room temperature was hot. We mentioned this issue to the concierge who informed us that BD standard for room temperature is 24 degree Celsius. Too hot for a good night sleep as the room never when below the standard (day or night). Most likely working on an over capacity geothermal system. The maid missed to clean and make our room one day in mid-week. We managed but not representative of a 5 stars resort. It is obvious that capital investments would definitively help with the resort's maintenance to fix noticeable broken items (private balcony fence, pot lights, faucets, A/C, damaged flooring, etc...). Overall, we had an incredible time in Cancun.
