sorry, i will try my best to write everything in english, because playa its a very turistic place. my exboyfriend hit me comming back from the club, i yelled so loud for help and no one shows up, was a living nightmare, we even broke some furniture during the fight, he keeps me against my will all night, even when we came into the reception i was crying and no one ask me if i was ok. was a terrible experience and sadly im not comming back to that hotel, the most beautiful place but didnt feel safe or valued as a woman.

The hotel is very modern and clean, and the staff was professional, friendly and helpful. It is located in the middle of the very busy tourist area, so it would not be a good choice for anyone wanting quiet and relaxation. We arrived on a Saturday and quickly decided against using the rooftop pool because of the extremely loud hip hop music. Luckily for us, it was much quieter after the weekend. Our biggest issue with our room was lack of bathroom privacy -- the walls between the bathroom and the bedroom were clear glass, covered in some parts by wood lattice. The hotel staff hung a shower curtain for us to provide more privacy, and other guests told us that some rooms have translucent film on the bathroom walls, which would have been helpful in our room. The information we read before our trip told us that facilities in both the hotel and the condominium complex were available for our use, but upon arrival we were told that we could not use the pool at the beach condo facility. Therefore, we were limited to our rooftop pool. Note that the hotel is located on a pedestrian-only street, so we had trouble locating it when we arrived by car. We had to park several blocks away and walk to find the entrance. The valet was very helpful, and went with us to find our car and take it away to be parked.
Beautiful place, tasty food, great service !! We had a good time at the hotel Its the second time we stay at the hotel and we would come back any time. The people working in the hotel are willing to please the customer. Thank you.

Let me clue everyone in: this hotel is right next door to the loudest disco on the Yucatan Peninsula. It sounded like the speakers for the entire disco were playing in the room next to us. This is not just one or two rooms that are affected by this– it's the entire set of rooms on the front street side. I was lying in bed praying the noise would stop. But it was relentless. RELENTLESS! Beginning about 11 or 12 pm and continuing NON-STOP until sometime around 6 in the morning. It could be described as no less than Hellish. Finally around 5 pm, I went downstairs and demanded to be moved, but the hotel was sold out, so they would not or could not move us. I spent the next day trying to find a new hotel, but everything was sold out. We had to stay in the prison another night and then they moved us for our last 3 nights to the other side of the building– that was pure serenity. Ok, now that you've heard about the worst night's sleep I have ever had in my life, let me share some other tidbits. Yes, this hotel is located in probably the best part of Playa. It is central to everything. There is fine dining all around, and the hotel restaurant was great. There is a pool on the rooftop, but to be honest, it wasn't that much fun because it was fairly shallow and not very big. I would have preferred a large pool. The best part of the stay was actually going to the beach. Thompson has a related hotel that is a block or two away, and it was nice to have private beach access– this was where the fun was. Not really at the hotel pool that seemed more for show than anything else. I think most of the elements of this hotel truly deserve a 4 to 5, but I can't in good conscience rate this hotel higher than a 1 or 2 based upon the torture they put us through. Let me put it another way, if you were offered to stay in our initial hotel room at the price we paid, nobody in their right mind would ever have taken the offer, knowing in advance what the torture was like. The noise absolutely cannot be understated. My question is, the hotel knows this, they themselves with full knowledge of the noise problem would NEVER voluntarily stay in one of these rooms, so why then would you sell these rooms to unsuspecting guests? Again, the noise was unrelenting and completely intolerable. By the time the music stopped I didn't know whether their was a cease fire in a DMZ or I was in a twilight nightmare I could not awake from. Be guarded.

My husband and I spent his 43rd birthday at the Thompson Hotel- Play del Carmen and had such an astonishing experience. From the moment we walked in we were instantly greeted with very friendly and helpful staff like Nadia in which she helped us with the check in process that took less than 5 minutes and what was waiting for us was a gorgeous room that had everything we needed and more… by the counter, we found a beautifully welcome note by Sinahi in which I was in contacted from the moment I booked this room and since I needed some help coordinating my hubby’s “surprises” birthday celebration in which it become a totally success… From the beautiful decoration and help from Sinahi & Paola and the flowers arrangements from Humberto to the delicious food that the chef Danny Mazano and the amazing server from Notario our waiter made us feel all of us so special… Valeria & Simon were equally amazing when we were at the pool, or at the pool bar. They continually provided exceptional service to us and everyone else! A very special thanks to everyone I mentioned plus to all of the staff members there who work so passionately to ensure that us as their guests are totally pampered. A very special thanks to Sinahi because his compassion and dedication to his profession made my hubby’s birthday one of the kind. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great accommodations, excellent food, amazing service, and an overall great time! We can't wait to return!!! Oh, and if you run into Sinahi tell her Rolman & Gilberto from NYC/MEX said thanks!!!!
