Thompson Playa del Carmen Main House

This hotel is in downtown Playa. Be prepared with silicon ear plugs if noise bothers you. I had them ( thank goodness) and enjoyed the location with many restaurants and shops nearby. My friends without them didn't love the music deep into the night. My check in had issues. If you arrive early please do yourself a favor and don't wait for an email that never comes. Go back down to the desk at 3 and wait for your room to be ready. Staff was great otherwise, hotel is very nice, clean and the rooftop pool is amazing with views of the water.

Best Hotel in Playa Del Carmen This hotel is right on the beach, on 8 st. 2 seconds from Quinta Avenida where all the action is! It’s a laxury hotel, with amazing sea view suites and very good service and private attractions to details. I staying in this hotel 40 nights as it is my home in Mexico 🇲🇽! I really feel like a princess here! Alfie is the manager and treats me the best ♥️! I have no words at express my gratitude🙏 I really hope to see him here in the few years and even be upgraded cause he deserves it! Especial thanks to Geovany who took care of my suite in the best way possible! Room was clean perfectly, I got all the bottle water I needed and always treated kindly 🙏👌 super happy to see Geovany year after year! Makes me feel at home. Another special thanks is to Emilio in reception who was very professional at work and always sent me water and gave answers to all my questions during my stay. Although he is young and new, he did his best (except for one mistake & I’m sure he learns his lesson). I appreciate everyone’s work in this lovely hotel, and happy to return again next month!

We spent a long weekend at the resort. The resort is lovely as are all of the people who work there. Soraya, the desk agent, was wonderful at check-in and gave us helpful tips on local places to go. Angel, Joel and Yaz in the pool and restaurant area were attentive, friendly and the food is delicious! The resort is on the beach and has different types of seating for sun and shade. The pool is very small and more of a lap pool. The rooms are gorgeous and bottled water is supplied every day. We all had balconies that look out on the golf and over the resort pool and cabana area. The resort is only a block from 5th Avenue which is the main restaurant and shopping street and about a 5 minute walk from the sister Hyatt Centric site. The sister site has a nicer pool area but is not on the beach. If you have anyone in your party who is handicapped this property is challenging as at peak times of the day the street is blocked off and vans/taxis cannot get down to the door. We did rent scooters for two of our party and they have a ramp with access to the street but you do have to walk up hill 2 blocks to get to transportation. They are short blocks but still challenging for those with mobility issues. The wedding included a welcome party on the roof of the sister site which was fantastic. Great food and drinks and a beautiful view of the Gulf. The rooms at the sister site are very similar so if you want to save money stay there. You still have access to the beach at this site.
