Thompson Playa del Carmen Main House

I'll start with the positive, the staff is legendary! Front Desk, bell men and all other staff were fantastic! Now, the location is good UNLESS you like to sleep. The noise from the clubs nearby is unbearable! Also, the laundry Detergent that they use on sheets and towels is way too strong. I would literally get sick in the middle of the night because the scent used on the sheets is way too strong. Has more of a perfume odor rather then a clean linen smell.

We loved everything about our trip! The rooms were clean and well appointed. They had a cool tropical vibe. We used the amenities at both properties. The staff was amazing! Everyone we came in contact with was helpful and friendly. The front desk staff offered great suggestions for restaurants and entertainment. If we needed anything in our room, they took care of it all with a smile. The servers were very attentive and accommodating. There were definitely a few standouts. We would love to thank Ernesto, Eddie and Javi for their outstanding service. They kept things upbeat and fun! We would definitely recommend these properties 100%! Thanks so much for everything!!

We had an amazing experience! The service with Eddie at the pool/beach bar and lounging area was exceptional! We will be back!!

The stay was great. Clean rooms daily, staff very friendly, and perfect location to explore stores, shops ans restaurants. Soreya, Meyli, and Alejandro was always very helpful with great tips as to where to explore or eat. Will definitely plan to stay there again when I return.

I want to start by making sure that all readers understand everything about this hotel set up. First of all, google maps and apple maps both go to the wrong location when using it. Oddly enough, they both send you to different locations and neither location is correct. The hotel is technically one hotel "Hyatt Centric Playa Del Carmen". However, it's actually two hotels separated by about 3 blocks. Why does this matter? Hotel services are separated by the two locations. Gym is in one location, beach is at one location, roof top pool is another location, etc. The hotel should be two different brands and two different hotels entirely that allows guests to have reciprocal benefits at the other property. It is very confusing and unorganized. Having said that, the rooms on the beach house side are HUGE and bigger than pretty much any NYC apartment. The beach at the beach house side is VERY small. If you're thinking of excessive beach exposure, this isn't it. The downtown side has a rooftop pool that is massive but the music is extremely loud. The saving grace to this property (besides the large rooms) was the staff. They were extremely understanding and kind. I would highly recommend Hyatt to do some changes to this property and make it less confusing.
