Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa in Playa Esterillos Este, Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Immerse yourself in nature, art and design at this ultimate seaside escape. Just a 90-minute drive from San Jose International Airport, between the towns of Jaco Beach and Quepos, you will discover Alma del Pacifico Hotel, hiding in the rainforest next to one of the country’s quietest, prettiest beaches, Playa Esterillos Este. Here you will enjoy glistening ocean waves, steep verdant cliffs and walking paths that wind through colorful ornamental, herb and vegetable gardens to your oasis bungalow. The highlight of each bungalow is the mosaic-tiled shower that opens into a private tropical garden, perfect for spotting an endangered scarlet macaw spreading its wings over the treetops.
This cute and original hotel has a bit of a California feel, designed by husband-and-wife team Sherrill and Charlene Broudy. Architect Sherrill created sweeping arced ceilings of indigenous wood, while Charlene, a world-renowned artist, filled the space with vibrant paintings, mosaics and tapestries totaling over 150 pieces of original art work displayed throughout the resort. The restaurant features gourmet international and Costa Rican dishes with emphasize on fresh seafood and produce grown in the hotel’s own gardens. The lovely seaside spa offers guests an extensive menu of therapies that incorporate organic local ingredients.

Reviews for Alma del Pacifico Beach Hotel & Spa
4 person family, 11 boy, 14 year old and parents had a blast. We loved the staff, from the folks that cleaned our room to the wait staff in the excellent open air restaurant. Warren, the manager was supportive, helpful and made us feel very comfortable. His suggestions were good as well. The rooms are very cool, open air and the water front units are great. We felt safe, and that we were surrounded by friendly folks. There was a boutique Yoga and surf hotel just down the beach where I rented good surf boards. If you do rent surf boards I suggest you do it there. There was a surf pro that will head out and surf with you a bit, which I found necessary to learn a bit about getting out. The beach has strong currents but the kids had a blast body surfing and playing on the beach. Food was great. Breakfast was my favorite though the dinner wait staff made us come back several nights. Rent a car when you get there. Get off the hotel grounds a bunch too. They will help you do it.

I went to Alma del Pacifico for 3 days and wish I could have stayed longer. Was amazing. The bungalows are spacious and beautiful, I love the outdoor shower. Everything is very private. There are 2 beautiful pools, a jacuzzi (it is not heated, wish it was--unseasonably cold) and a large beach area. You can walk for a really long time down the beach. The staff are very nice and helpful. One of the most amazing places I have stayed particularly for the price. Beautifully landscaped property. Easy to get to Jaco and Manuel Antonio natl. park.

This place is the perfect to relax. Beach is beautiful. You can relax in the hammock with your favorite drink on the beach. Restaurant service, as of room service is also great. The bungalow is the perfect place to be with your significant other. Loved it!

Arriving at the resort seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. Once the gates open, drinks are waiting for you at reception and the check in process is quick. The villas are very spacious and comfortable. I love feeling like I'm the only guest. Waiting for service from any facility is non-existent. Someone is always ready and available to help. My favorite part of Alma aside from walking straight from my room to the beach only yards away where I can collect palm size sand dollars is the food. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy the food here. It is amazing. A must stay every trip to Costa Rica!
My boyfriend and I stayed here after a few nights in Uvita. It was the off-season so it was quite peaceful. The beach was pretty and serene. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The rooms were colorful and large with an indoor and outdoor shower. We stayed in a garden one which was very private and we loved. The beach view rooms were more open. We had a rental car so we were able to do a little exploring and eat at other places besides the hotel which helped. The food at the hotel was good and decently priced. It's not a typical big resort feel so if that's what you're looking for this is not the place, but if you're looking for a more quiet feel it's perfect! We had a great time and would go back.
