Waves crash near the lanais of Koa Kea Hotel & Resort's oceanfront guestrooms, a collection of low-profile buildings that blend with the nature around them. Inside, fresh flowers accent simple, modern island décor and art prints of coral. Koa Kea means "white coral," a tribute to the life-giving power of the reefs. According to Hawaiian mythology, coral is the goddess granddaughter of the world’s creator. From November to May, Koa Kea’s slice of the Pacific hosts a migration of humpback whales, so keep an eye to the horizon.

The staff was amazing. The hotel was smaller then the ones which surrounded it, but that is something I enjoy. Gives you more of a personal experience.

Koa Kea was absolutely wonderful. At arrival we were greeted and felt welcomes. Roy and Joseph were so kind and helpful. The breakfast at Red Salt was delicious and our waiter wonderful. Room was clean and comfortable, the grounds of the hotel absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend Koa Kea!

This place was just as advertised: professional, warm, friendly, great food, beautiful views right on the beach, nice rooms and amenities, and unlike their bigger competitors very intimate and romantic and personal. From the friendly pool bar to the fire pit with s'mores, it was a dream honeymoon.

We had a great stay! This is a great resort in a prime location on the beach. On the beach you will see turtles and monk seals. Becky, the concierge, was amazing. She was very personable and caring and gave good recommendations. The on-site valet was great. They were super professional and kind, especially Kaimana. The various amenities were not disappointing. The yoga instructor was great, the fitness center was great (and has a peloton and dumbbells/cables among other things), the pool was nice, and the restaurant has delicious food and nice staff.

You won’t regret staying at the Ko'a Kea. If you’re seeking a tranquil, intimate, top-notch luxury resort away from the crowds, this is the perfect choice! My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon here in 2017 and returned for our wedding anniversary. The resort offers easy beach access with rental equipment for snorkeling, surfing, and beach lounging, along with plenty of lounge chairs and pool/lawn space for relaxation. It's just a short stroll to Poipu Beach and nearby hotels. We absolutely adore this place. The staff is exceptionally friendly too! Red Salt restaurant serves excellent cuisine, albeit at a high price—it's definitely worth the splurge!
