Hotel Le Maquis
20166 Porticcio Corsica
Porticcio, France
20166
Exterior: The property itself sits on beautiful land with a very nice sea view. The gardens are manicured. The swimming pool could use less chlorine. Interior: The common areas retain an old-style Corsica feel. However, that is where the appreciation for the memories of times past should end. Rooms are basic and permeated with a musty smell. They need to be renovated. They clash with the renovated bathrooms. The mattress is extremely hard, the pillows very small. The property is an attempt to luxury but something is amiss. Staff: Front desk: arrogant and pretentious. Not impressed to say the least. Lacks the friendliness and not welcoming feel, keys to a luxury small boutique property as the Le Maquis pretends to be. They all have a Corsica attitude , not in the good sense. Housekeeping: good and attentive. Breakfast service: Could use some improvements, more staff, but overall is acceptable.

Watched one of the best sunsets of my life from my beach side window in this quirky but luxurious hotel.Fun decor makes wandering the hallways to your room a joy. Outstanding service at dinner augmented the tasty meal. Langoustines were the best choice among the seafood.

A charming family run hotel build directly on a nice fine sand beach. An outdoor and another indoor pool makes your stay relaxed and beach resort like. The restaurant serves gourmet dishes prepared in a way French know how to do. Excellent. Breakfast is in continental style but you can ad a la carte anything you might like. I prefer buffet breakfast which is the norm at 5 star hotels, because of the choices, but this way is acceptable too. What they serve is very good. We had a junior suite of good size, a very nice bathroom and terrace overlooking the garden and sea. Furniture is a mix of provenzal and some old/antique type pieces I guess the owners bought along the way. It makes a good impression away from the standardization some hotels have chosen. Internet is very bad, erratic and when you get connected it’s mostly useless. I consider this a huge unacceptable problem for a hotel in this class.

We spent a couple of days at this exquisite hotel and restaurant. Our room was lovely with fantastic sea views and balcony. The hotel is old French style which we loved. The restaurant is wonderful with great gourmet food. This is a real haven of peace. Unfortunately it rained one of the days but they have an inside pool which was lovely. But the most memorable thing for us was the service - both in the restaurant and the hotel was quite exceptional.

This hotel is done up like a private home furnished with antiques. The rooms are large, as are the bathrooms which have been completely redone. There are two stand-out features: the private hotel beach and the fantastic restaurant with its terrace overlooking the sea. We had an evening meal here which was excellent. The service was good, the food was good and the atmosphere was outstanding. It's obviously a bit of a go-to place for locals looking to celebrate a special event. It's not cheap but worth it.
