The Heathman Hotel, Portland in Portland, Oregon

The Heathman Hotel Portland is one of only 30 hotels in the world to enjoy a four-diamond rating for 27 consecutive years. And that’s not the only reason why a stay here is memorable. Bright, eclectic rooms compliment an art collection that includes Henk Pender and Andy Warhol, and a cozy lending library stocks signed editions by authors who have stayed there – more than 2,500 titles to date, all available to be delivered to your bedside. A recent landfill-free “green” renovation makes this pet-friendly hotel one of the best environmental options in Portland.

Explore the Pearl District, stopping to shop in local boutiques and bookstores. Take a midday yoga class. Unwind further with a craft microbrew. Back at the hotel, listen to live jazz next to the fireplace in the hotel’s original eucalyptus-paneled Tea Court Lounge. Sample Kumamoto oysters followed by a leg of bacon-wrapped venison, or opt for a creative vegan tasting menu.

For a luxury hotel, I expect luxury. You pull up, are greeted by a bellhop in a red get up. When you check in, you are asked whether you'd like beer or wine which was awesome. Everything I expect from luxury and then I entered my room. I have literally stayed in bigger rooms in downtown Tokyo. Everything was cramped. The bed felt old. The bathrooom felt like it belonged on a submarine. I stayed there for a night and quite frankly will never stay again. There are a lot better options in PDX, especially for the price.

We had a very nice stay at this attractive, well located hotel. Extreme coldness of the public areas was a problem. It was particularly cold in the restaurant, to the point where we finally went elsewhere for breakfast.

The Heathman is a historic hotel located downtown. Lots restaurants within walking distance and Nordstroms. Upon check in my husband was offered an IPA. WOW, what a way to start our vacation. The room was very nice and the mini-bar was really well stocked. Small bathroom, typical with older hotels.

This hotel provides some old fashioned service and brings back an elegance to traveling. Complimentary wine or beer at check-in is an added bonus. The service is quite good. At check-in one Taryn was especially helpful in providing directions and providing recommendations for places to visit and eat. Throughout our brief stay, staff always proved to be congenial. Room was attractive although somewhat dimly lit. The tv is enormous and seems to overpower the room, but that may be a draw for some travelers.

Rooms look old, smelly. Definitely it's not a luxury hotel. My room was dirty when we arrived, it smelled terrible, the previous guest had left food inside the mini bar. Comfortable bed however the bed sheets were all wrinkled, the hotels main iron was down since 2 months.
