The Heathman Hotel, Portland in Portland, Oregon

The Heathman Hotel Portland is one of only 30 hotels in the world to enjoy a four-diamond rating for 27 consecutive years. And that’s not the only reason why a stay here is memorable. Bright, eclectic rooms compliment an art collection that includes Henk Pender and Andy Warhol, and a cozy lending library stocks signed editions by authors who have stayed there – more than 2,500 titles to date, all available to be delivered to your bedside. A recent landfill-free “green” renovation makes this pet-friendly hotel one of the best environmental options in Portland.

Explore the Pearl District, stopping to shop in local boutiques and bookstores. Take a midday yoga class. Unwind further with a craft microbrew. Back at the hotel, listen to live jazz next to the fireplace in the hotel’s original eucalyptus-paneled Tea Court Lounge. Sample Kumamoto oysters followed by a leg of bacon-wrapped venison, or opt for a creative vegan tasting menu.

We like restored classic hotels and this is one of the best we have stayed at. Being an old building, the room was a little smaller than many modern hotels, but it had all the modern amenities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurant in hotel. Good location near museums. Being an urban hotel, some street noise was noticeable at night. Watch out for cost growth: Oregon has no sales tax but plenty of taxes on hotel rooms. Then hotel has mysterious $24/day "facility charge". Valet parking is $42/day - typical for NYC. The parking fee is clearly market where you drop off the car. A public garage is around the corner.

Perfect, especially when pairing with a night at the theater. The room fantastic. It was quiet and comfortable. The service of all employees that we encountered was excellent. Many of them went over and beyond expectations to make sure that we were properly taken care of.

This hotel is beautiful and has a great atmosphere with great rooms! I was slightly taken aback by the amount of taxes and fees that were added onto the bill , making our room close to $300 for a night. They did upgrade us and the customer service was great! I would love to stay again, but will make sure to expect the extra $60-70 in fees.

We travelled to Portland with our 2 sons for a few days and stayed 3 nights at the Heathman. We arrived late in the day and checked in. I had made some prior arrangements via email with staff to have the certain things arranged for our arrival. Upon entering the room I found to my great disappointment that none of my requests had been carried out. I went down and spoke with Jennifer N, who totally took care of everything immediately and made things right. You get to see the real meaning of customer service in how things are rectified when things go wrong. In this case Jennifer saved the day. She also followed up with us each day to make sure our stay was enjoyable.

Lovely room! We were upgraded to a Renaissance King and it had a comfortable seating area and two bathrooms. Was a great place to relax and watch the NCAA final four. The bed was very comfortable and the curtains blocked out all the light which made for a good nights rest.
