I've been staying at the Nines for a few consecutive weeks, and the hotel is pretty great. Pros: - Really nice big gym with modern equipment - Fluffy bathrobes, - Eco-friendly bath supplies - Clean, big, well-lit rooms - Very quiet/business-centric hotel (no loud partiers, etc) Things to improve: - Concierge lounge breakfast is so-so...would be nice to have something aside from pastries, fruit, & overcooked hard-boiled eggs

I booked the hotel almost three months in advance. We were driving through Portland for a night. Two adjoining rooms bc we are traveling with kids. I call the week of our vacation to conform they are adjoining (which they confirm). I call the day of our arrivals to inform them of a late check in, to confirm (again) the rooms are adjoining and to request the crib be set up already since we are arriving late. We arrive at the hotel close to 11pm, they don't have adjoining rooms, the receptionist is so rude and doesn't offer any solution for us other than "sorry, your option is to stay in one room". Given the time we don't have an option bc we are 5hrs away from our final destination and our kids need to sleep (they have been in the car for over 10hrs). We get to the room, there is no crib; we have to call down twice to get the crib. The bathtub is also icing on the cake; the drain doesn't work, so water keeps leaking (so we couldn't give our kids a bath fast enough). Yet when you are taking a shower and the drain is open, it can't leak fast enough (I was showering in a pool up to my ankles). We ordered milk to the room for the kids and it took 20min to arrive. We order our car the next day and they have to call us back bc they wrote the wrong number, so that takes 20 min (along with waiting for the luggage cart). This hotel is not a luxury hotel. Maybe for people with no class or customer service needs. I travel the world for business and have never had such a poor experience like this before. We will never stay at this brand again.

This hotel went above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome. From visiting the room twice a day to the chocolates at night I couldn't have been happier!!! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

So disappointed with this hotel. We booked a club level room at a price of $440. Arrived at hotel and room was not ready. After an hour it was ready and we walked into a small room with a even smaller window looking outside. We went back down to the front desk and told them we were not satisfied with the room. The rude woman at the desk said she wasn't authorized to help and would have to speak with the room controller. After waiting 10 minutes she came back and said they would give us an ADA room. Booked this with Amex and most hotels will offer an upgrade. While waiting another guest checked in after me and was offered an upgrade to a suite. So, obviously there were rooms available for upgrades. This rude service made us leave the hotel, cancel our reservation, and be happily received at a different hotel around the corner. The small room was in no way worth $440 a night. Stay elsewhere.

This is the last hotel I will ever stay in while visiting Portland. Period. Forget about Marriott, forget about Hilton and forget about other Starwood properties, the Nines is a Ten. Hotel lobby on the 9th floor is a little weird, but it works with the name. We love the rooms and decor which reminds you of a W but more local and boutique. The rooftop bar and restaurant is unbelievable. Rooms have lots of space and are made to have all the amenities. Work out facility has everything you need, and the valet actually hustled to get our car before we got down to the first floor. Bottom line, don't stay anywhere else.
