Reviews for The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Portland

A wonderful stay at The Nines...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

We booked The Nines for a weekend away in Portland with the family. We had two adjoining rooms that were large and on the 8th floor with the restaurant and bar. This was the same weekend the Club America soccer team was staying at the hotel while they played the Portland Timbers. It was a bit surreal wading through the fans and security to get into the elevator lobby but the hotel staff handled the crowds very well. The location of the hotel cannot be beat. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to and even was able to listen to the live music coming from across the street in Pioneer Square. For those worried about homeless people in the area, there were some but we never felt threatened or overwhelmed by them. In fact, I found downtown to be clean and nice to walk in. Our room had a wonderfully comfortable king bed in addition to a couch with a chaise lounge. It made for a nice place to relax when taking a break from sightseeing in the area. In addition, there was a separate refrigerator and minibar in the room. Although there was live music outside, we never really could hear it from within the room. Occasionally we could hear outside noise but for the most part it was very quiet. The lobby restaurant Urban Farmer was ok. We had breakfast credit and it was fine to have food in the morning but like most hotels, I found the restaurant to be ok but not necessarily worth the price. The bar had a fantastic, albeit expensive, selection of liquors. The rooftop bar was very cool but always crowded. We found a seat one night but it was after the bar closed and it was still busy. On Saturday night, it was hard to even move with all of the people there. It's a small space with a great view so lots of people want to be up there. Where the hotel shines is the staff. They could not have been more friendly. The Concierge, Sheryl, talked with us about our experience with local attractions and restaurants and helped direct us towards the proper train lines. The front desk staff, Ashley, was incredibly helpful with answering questions about in-room charges and making sure we were able to use them before closing out the bill. Overall, we could not have been happier with our choice and will definitely stay at The Nines again.

Can’t Reco the Nines Enough!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Oh my!! We just spent three days in PDX and can say wholeheartedly the Nines got every. single. thing. RIGHT! Matthew & the valet team were swift and helpful! Cruz & Patrick helped me plan out our time at the Falls & zoo. Jenessa made sure we got our quiet room, roll away and delivered sweet balloons for my boys birthday. And the whole Urban Farmer team is out of this world. Specially Andi who is so on the ball, warm, and cool. And also shout out to Kyle, Javier, and Malachi who were wonderful, as well. I’m as particular as they come and literally would book again in a heartbeat again and again and again!

Outside noise is terrible

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The hotel is beautiful. Lobby, conference rooms etc. the hotel rooms are dated. I stayed here 15 years ago several times and it’s the exact same. The negatives: the outside house was HORRIBLE. The max track going by sounded like a dumpster rolling down the floor above my head. It was SO LOUD! It kept me awake until after 1am. Then woke me up again at 5:30am every morning. You need to sound proof your windows! My room was also right off the lobby which didn’t feel very secure.
