The Nines is in a great location in downtown Portland. It is close to many restaurants and shopping. We had 4 rooms on the 14th floor. The hotel is very nice, the staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating, the rooms are a little small. The restaurants live up to Portland's reputation for supporting locally sourced goods.

We had a reservation for the club level and check-in was advertised as 3 PM. When we arrived at noon, we understood why no room was available and when we returned at 3 PM we were told someone was making up our room. At 3:45 we were told the same thing and that we should wait in the lobby. We eventually got our room at 4:30 after insisting that we visit the room to see if it was made up. The rest of the stay was okay but when the final bill arrived we were charged for overnight parking. The check-out clerk assured me that this would be deducted ($47 per night) but when we received our final bill by email, they had only reversed $9 per night. We will see how many contacts it takes to get our due.

We stayed at The Nines for a bachelor weekend with 13 people and our experience was outstanding. The convention services manager we worked with was super-responsive, even to some last minute and non-standard requests. Lovely spaces and staff, and two excellent dining and cocktail spaces. Wonderful. The room was extremely nice as well.

This was our second time to the nines and our first visit was great. This time the room had a weird smell, and the bathroom floor was dirty. The room service was good and prompt but the fact that there were "no upgrades" available was frustrating and most likely we will not be returning to the nines. I expect better service for the price of the rooms.

Overall we had a lovely stay. All of the staff were very nice. It was lovely to have ice in our bucket when we returned from a long day! There were just a few nit picky items about the room that I noted under the room tip.
