Spent over two weeks in Portugal and this was the most disappointing hotel. Standard rooms face an alley and our room had construction scaffolding right outside. We booked months ago and were not a late night check in as room should have been given out as last resort. We paid to be upgraded to river view. Not hotel issue but very crowded and loud outside as many people eating and partying by the river so lots of noise if you keep windows open. Breakfast was not very good and first day a large group must have come through and eaten almost everything. I had made reservations for three rooms and two of the couples skipped the breakfast. Housekeeping has to 5:30 to clean so if unlucky as we were when we took a break from being out all day to get ready for dinner was a little difficult. All 6 of us agreed not the best rooms or experience of all the places we stayed

Exceptional experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel itself is awesome but the front desk staff, particularly Goncarlo Barbosa, went above and beyond in his role, to help give us an exceptional experience. From restaurant recommendations, to booking tours to simply being friendly and helpful it has been an outstanding experience.

A hotel worth a visit

A really special stay at the Pestana Vintage Porto. Large comfortable room with superbly restful bed and excellent bathroom. Breakfast was full of options, fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, prunes granola, dried fruits and yoghurt. Variety of fruit Juice. Healthy options. Cold meats and cheeses. Portuguese choices. Bread and pastries, choice of cooked foods. The staff were always exceptionally helpful and charming (particularly on the reception desk). We would highly recommend this Hotel. It is in a terrific position in Porto near the river and many cafes, restaurants and bars.

Highly recommended, perfect location

This is a fantastic hotel, so glad we stayed here. The location is perfect, step outside the door and you are in the heart of the old town and right by the river with so many bars and eating places. All main attractions are in walking distance. The old buildings are very attractive. We didn't have a river view but the room was very clean (maid came in twice a day) and the huge bed was comfortable. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and even port and champagne!! My only criticism was that staff were not always immediately on hand to order hot drinks and you really need to learn to make a pot of tea for English guests! Please - proper teabags in a teapot (not the flavourless ones available) and with BOILING water poured straight on before it is served. This would raise you to supreme heights for all of us tea drinkers!

Hotel with beautiful view!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed for 4 nights at Pestana Vintage Porto. It is located a convenient area and hotel offers beautiful view of the Luis I Bridge! There are many great restaurants, shops and bars nearby. We walked to the attractions from the hotel. The staff and concierge were courteous and helpful! The only negatives are the breakfast selection and service from staff can be slow when it gets busy in the morning. The rooms, carpet and furniture need to be renovated in near future.
