Absolute perfection in every sense, the trip of a lifetime. Can't say enough good things about the staff, service, location, beauty. Dominica is truly a gem and Secret Bay makes it truly magical. We can't wait to return for another adventure.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at the Zabuco Honeymoon Villa II and I have nothing but glowing recommendations for this gorgeous and incredible resort. The villa is luxurious and its immersion in the rainforest is magnificent. I wanted to get away from everything for our anniversary, and Secret Bay was so secluded that we barely saw any other guests during our stay. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, we felt Dominica's hospitality. I loved waking up every morning and taking in the scenery on the balcony. We loved lounging by the pool, but also enjoyed our Indian River tour with our guide, Fire--he is the man! We went for a short bike ride, and we kayaked to the secluded beach during one day as they provided us with all the equipment we needed. We also went lion fish hunting, although neither my boyfriend or I caught any. Our guy caught two of them for us and they were prepared for dinner that night--it was so delicious and probably my favorite meal of the trip. The service was impeccable; this place is a true gem!

Traveling to Secret Bay is like time traveling to a period when humans hadn't yet spoiled the earth. It's seriously an eden and, while you need a connecting flight to get there from the U.S., it is so worth it to enter this other "world." Dominica has no stop lights, no movie theaters, just an astonishing blanket of rainforest and an unfathomable treasure trove of natural wonders within. The Secret Bay grounds are stunning and the villas are architecturally significant. I stayed in Ylang Ylang I, one of their two new villas and could not have asked for more. Each villa feels so secluded. Instead of a hotel room, you have your own "grounds" complete with gardens, a plunge pool and, of course, an expansive open-air deck to observe it all, with views of the Caribbean Sea below. Tibay Beach is a short walk away and there was never more than two other people on it. But if that's not secluded enough, Secret Beach (only accessible by sea) is a quick kayak away and you can ask your villa attendant (on your personal guest iPhone no less) to hook it up anytime... um, yes. I swam through this giant school of tiny silver fish off Secret Beach and was totally in awe for the rest of the day. The villa attendants are so attentive. Laundry was left in the morning and done by 11am. Food is served in villa in private seclusion. Makes me wonder why all resorts aren't like this! Lenita manages this operation and she is one of the sweetest people you will meet in your life. You can reach her at any time as well. One of my favorite experiences was speaking with my massage therapist Dafrica. She is so much more than a massage therapist. We talked for some time about spirituality and coming to terms with some things I was dealing with back on "the main land." Trudy is a phenomenal yoga teacher. She has these almost floor-length dread locks and hitch hikes everywhere! In short, the people you meet at Secret Bay are inspiring and sure to leave a deep impression on your soul. Your stay will impact your life well beyond your vacation. The food... I could go on forever. Fresh fish every day and the most amazing green herb salad dressing. At Secret Bay, ordinary does not exist. Definitely go on the Indian River trip with Fire as your guide. He is the real deal. This excursion meanders down an enchanted river (seen in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) and ends at the Bush Bar where you can chat with a few other guests, nom on plantain chips and walk through the gardens. Did I mention you're picked up by boat right from Secret Bay's Tibay Beach? If you want authentic travel experience combined with an other-worldly natural environment, you'll find it at Secret Bay. You'll fall in love and have to come back for more... it's just inevitable.

Secret Bay is a place unlike any other. We stayed in the Zabuco villa, and loved the panoramic views and privacy. We enjoyed gourmet meals served in our villa by kind, smiling staff. It is some of the best food I have ever had, and the homemade granola bars are insane. Paddle boarding and sitting by the beach are some of my favorite vacation activities, and SB is perfect for this. You can walk down to the beach below and then paddle around the point to Secret Beach for even more privacy. SB also coordinated some great adventures for us. Highly recommend the river cruise with Fire, and the boat cruise with Captain Don. These Dominican captains are very different, but both wonderful, and they show you beautiful parts of the island you would not see otherwise. Dominica is a magical place, and Secret Bay is without question the best way to experience it. Also, there are iguanas just cruising around. How cool is that!?

Secret Bay is like someplace you dream about - fantastic food, privacy and gorgeous views. My husband and I stayed there for 5 nights in August and we wish we could have stayed longer! From the moment the driver picked us up at the airport, we knew we were in for something special. The island is natural and beautiful. It still FEELS like a tropical destination full of culture and mystique. It is NOT super built up and touristy. If you are looking for a party vacation, this is not for you. If you are looking for a relaxing, private getaway, please look at Secret Bay, you won't regret it! Lenita was fantastic getting us acquainted with the island on our first morning there and helped us set up several excursions. Our favorite were the adventurous ones - jumping into Chaudiere pool, swimming the gorge and lion fish hunting! All of the people that brought us on our excursions were wonderful as well - particularly Ryan and MJ. We felt like we really saw a lot of the island and their culture with them as our guides. Our villa attendant, Shermima, was attentive and super helpful! She went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and was also super informative about the island. She even decorated our villa for my birthday and brought a cake! The food was delicious - every single dish we tried was divine!! And the fact that you eat in your villa on your own schedule was so convenient! We stayed in Ylang Ylang 1 and it was beautiful. The porch was the perfect place to sit and read books and the pool was nice and refreshing after a morning of excursions. We had them stock breakfast items and it was wonderful to wake up and fix a simple, leisurely breakfast on the porch. I could go on and on about this incredible destination, but it really is something you have to experience to understand. Book this place, you will NOT regret it!!
