Start your day by taking advantage of Secret Bay's selection of recreation equipment, including snorkeling gear, mountain bikes, paddle boards, and yoga mats. Protect the marine environment in Secret Bay's signature sustainable Lionfish hunting and cooking education program. Swim through the enchanting sea cave grotto, or take to the powdery sands of the resort's swimming beach. Another separate beach offers calm waters as well, and perfect chances to snorkel and explore. Wade up the river into the forest's mangroves, and take in the sights of the ancient Bwa Mang trees that stretch their roots into the cool waters. Then taste the island first-hand by arranging a personal cooking class, where you will learn to create some of the resort's signature dishes. Only the freshest, locally grown will do; Secret Bay, and the island itself, is home to many fruit trees ranging from guava to pineapple. Fish pulled from the ocean compliments the delightful flavors of the produce, and Secret Bay's staff of cooks know just how to make the absolute most of every favor. From the food to the forest, the beach to the bungalows, Secret Bay is a paradise only Dominica can produce.

My wife and I spent our 10 year anniversary at this resort at the recommendation of a friend that had been here several years ago. And we were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we landed, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We are fairly active people but wanted a trip that was more laid back. This met all our expectations. We even got in a great hike in the rain Forrest. Most of our time was spent at the resort relaxing and enjoying the views of the ocean views that were seen from our balcony. I always try to leave honest reviews about the places we visit. If there was anything i would recommend improving, i would ask the resort trim back some of the vegetation that partially blocked the views from the pool level of our villa. That issue is very minor and more a matter of preference. It would certainly not ever keep us from a return trip. Everything else about the trip was perfect including the chef that came into our villa one night to cook us dinner. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and residents of the island as they all work to recover from the devastation earlier this year.

The accommodations were outstanding however I wouldn't call this a traditional resort. Not much interaction with anyone else and totally secluded. The resort offers bicycles however there isn't anywhere safe to ride them. I would not advise anyone to venture outside the resort without a guide the resort set up. Good place to go if someone wants to disconnect from the world!

Absolute perfection in every sense, the trip of a lifetime. Can't say enough good things about the staff, service, location, beauty. Dominica is truly a gem and Secret Bay makes it truly magical. We can't wait to return for another adventure.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at the Zabuco Honeymoon Villa II and I have nothing but glowing recommendations for this gorgeous and incredible resort. The villa is luxurious and its immersion in the rainforest is magnificent. I wanted to get away from everything for our anniversary, and Secret Bay was so secluded that we barely saw any other guests during our stay. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, we felt Dominica's hospitality. I loved waking up every morning and taking in the scenery on the balcony. We loved lounging by the pool, but also enjoyed our Indian River tour with our guide, Fire--he is the man! We went for a short bike ride, and we kayaked to the secluded beach during one day as they provided us with all the equipment we needed. We also went lion fish hunting, although neither my boyfriend or I caught any. Our guy caught two of them for us and they were prepared for dinner that night--it was so delicious and probably my favorite meal of the trip. The service was impeccable; this place is a true gem!

Traveling to Secret Bay is like time traveling to a period when humans hadn't yet spoiled the earth. It's seriously an eden and, while you need a connecting flight to get there from the U.S., it is so worth it to enter this other "world." Dominica has no stop lights, no movie theaters, just an astonishing blanket of rainforest and an unfathomable treasure trove of natural wonders within. The Secret Bay grounds are stunning and the villas are architecturally significant. I stayed in Ylang Ylang I, one of their two new villas and could not have asked for more. Each villa feels so secluded. Instead of a hotel room, you have your own "grounds" complete with gardens, a plunge pool and, of course, an expansive open-air deck to observe it all, with views of the Caribbean Sea below. Tibay Beach is a short walk away and there was never more than two other people on it. But if that's not secluded enough, Secret Beach (only accessible by sea) is a quick kayak away and you can ask your villa attendant (on your personal guest iPhone no less) to hook it up anytime... um, yes. I swam through this giant school of tiny silver fish off Secret Beach and was totally in awe for the rest of the day. The villa attendants are so attentive. Laundry was left in the morning and done by 11am. Food is served in villa in private seclusion. Makes me wonder why all resorts aren't like this! Lenita manages this operation and she is one of the sweetest people you will meet in your life. You can reach her at any time as well. One of my favorite experiences was speaking with my massage therapist Dafrica. She is so much more than a massage therapist. We talked for some time about spirituality and coming to terms with some things I was dealing with back on "the main land." Trudy is a phenomenal yoga teacher. She has these almost floor-length dread locks and hitch hikes everywhere! In short, the people you meet at Secret Bay are inspiring and sure to leave a deep impression on your soul. Your stay will impact your life well beyond your vacation. The food... I could go on forever. Fresh fish every day and the most amazing green herb salad dressing. At Secret Bay, ordinary does not exist. Definitely go on the Indian River trip with Fire as your guide. He is the real deal. This excursion meanders down an enchanted river (seen in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) and ends at the Bush Bar where you can chat with a few other guests, nom on plantain chips and walk through the gardens. Did I mention you're picked up by boat right from Secret Bay's Tibay Beach? If you want authentic travel experience combined with an other-worldly natural environment, you'll find it at Secret Bay. You'll fall in love and have to come back for more... it's just inevitable.
