First rate property. View of Positano from room was fabulous. Enjoyed restaurant and workout room and other amenities. The staff was very gracious and helpful. Heads up: you don't want to stay in a room in the corridor connected with Room 14, where we stayed and where every morning beginning at around 7 we were awakened by doors shutting/slamming along the corridor. I don't know if this problem exists throughout the hotel, but it was constant and disruptive for us. (To the hotel's credit, we were given a comp on extras to compensate, but I would rather have slept past 7 each day. I reluctantly write this piece as the staff and hotel were first rate, but feel obliged to inform fellow traveladvisor readers who might rely on me as I've relied on them.)

This is our second visit to this amazing hotel and it was even better than before which we didn't think was possible! The hotel is so beautiful and the views are amazing. They grow all their own herbs, vegetables and flowers. We love the beach and patio which allows you to swim in the sea. The daily boat rides are fun, informative and a nice perspective for viewing the coastline. The hotel and rooms are beautifully laid out and furnished. It is not walking distance to town, however, they have a shuttle to transport you on demand so there is little, if any, inconvenience. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. They serve breakfast daily and offer, cheeses, meats, eggs, fruit, yogart, breads, pastries and cereals. They have an exceptional pastry chef; best croissants I have enjoyed in years, so flakey! We will be visiting Il San Pietro di Positano again.

This is luxury at its best, with beautiful rooms, public spaces, and grounds, and a staff whose attention to detail is among the best in the world. Just know that Positano is a very vertical town, and there are many, many stairs you must navigate both inside the hotel, as well as in the town itself. But this vertical place adds to the extreme charm, and the Il San Pietro is the jewel in the crown of this breathtaking spot on the Amalfi Coast...

We arrived at this hotel after a long flight from the US...when we came down to the lobby to check in the beauty of the entire hotel literally took my breathe away I almost started to cry and then all of a sudden a small little dog came running up to greet us. The hotel dogs name is Mila she is a rescue and from that point on after meeting Mila I knew I was in hotel heaven.....We were given room 34 which does not face the town of Positano but was so private and special and had the most amazing view to the South. It was the MOST BEAUTIFUL SUITE. It had its own private entrance and felt more like an apartment separate from the whole hotel. I deliberated for a little while as to which hotel to book in Positano and was so glad we choose Il San Pietro for various reasons. At the end of September there were still tons of tourists in Positano so it was so nice at the end of the day or night to come back to this gorgeous and private property with the piano music playing in the background the amazing Bellini's made by the bartenders and the stunning outdoor deck lit up with candles in the evening. Also a WONDERFUL reason to stay at this hotel is that after we dined at Le Sireneuse and Chez Black in Positano we did not have to walk up the hill in Positano we just hopped on a water taxi and for 20 euros for two people a little boat took us back to our hotel even super late at night and we would come into the dock and somehow the hotel staff knew we were coming back and would be there to great us on the rocks and then we would just take the elevator up....fabulous!!!! The car shuttle was available all the time and was wonderful. Because the hotel was a mile out of town it did not have tons of tourists walking into the lobby to look at the hotel which was very nice. Breakfast was amazing. The front desk staff and concierge were amazing. Vito the general manager was on site and visible at all times. Maria Luisa gave me and my husband one of the best massages of our lives. Finally can I just say that Pasquale at the Pool MADE our stay magic. Enough to say go spend sometime with Pasquale at the pool...and of course Mila the dog will probably be there as well. Lovely lunch by the pool and they sent us such thoughtful and beautiful surprises to our room. A true gem, classic hotel that will stay in my mind for a long time. I will be back and would only book this hotel when visiting Positano in the future. Grazie to the staff at Il Pietro San Positano....and to Mila as well for making my husbands birthday so special. I so wish we had more hotels like this in the US.

My wife and I were visiting Italy with 6 other relatives. My sister-in-law selected this hotel, and it was an excellent choice. Our shuttle drove on the crowded road along the Amalfi Coast from Sorrento above the town of Positano and came to a conveniently located car park for the hotel at the edge of town. We were anxious after the shuttle ride, and Il San Pietro di Positano was the perfect antidote. We stayed for 3 nights, too short in hindsight. We learned to navigate the various elevators and get to the various rooms, the lobby and restaurants, the pool, and the beach. In the lobby, we were greeted by one of the friendly, resident dogs. We were greeted by another smaller, also friendly dog in the pool area. We love that the Italians seem to be so welcoming of dogs in hotels, shops, and restaurants. My room (number 14) faced the town of Positano. It was one floor below the Lobby. The room and bathroom were spacious and relaxing. There was a small sun room with sofa and table between the bedroom and the outdoor balcony. The balcony gave me the opportunity to relax and enjoy the picturesque vista of houses, shops, restaurants, and other buildings cascading down the mountainside toward the Tyrrhenian Sea. The bed was comfortable. The amenities were first-rate. The staff was friendly and helpful. They spoke excellent English. My only complaint would be the Wi-Fi service. The signal was weak (compared to other hotels I stayed out during my trip) and not very robust for running a Virtual Private Network and downloading email. I liked the beach area at the bottom of the property. There was a large area for beach chairs on an elevated platform with bar service. There was an area for swimming, although the wave action was a little rough during my stay in early September. Thus, I could not take advantage of the kayaks and stand-up paddleboards that were available. There was a restaurant on the lower level with an outdoor patio, as well as a tennis court. The breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant was extensive, with lots to choose from. You could order hot food as well. The servers were friendly and always had a smile for you. Arrive early to get a table overlooking the sea. Expect to be pampered at the swimming pool. Staff will set up a padded chair with towels and an umbrella for you. They will take drink and snack orders as well. The pool is of medium size. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from Positano. You just have to call when you are ready to be picked up at the designated location.
