This stay was like a fairytale from the first moment we set the foot into this overwhelming, charming hotel. The furniture was fantastic; brocade, gold and sparkling chandeliers set the right frame for this exceptional experience. The room held the same grand standard and the bathroom was clean and appealing. We were happy to accept the offer of the afternoon fairytale-SPA and could enjoy a relaxing hour with fresh fruit and sparkling wine followed by a very comfortable massage. The tree course dinner offered in the same package was delicious as well as the wines accompanying. Every afternoon, 17-18, there was a wine tasting served with free wines and cheeses, all products from the Czech Republic, very tasty and of high quality. The staff was very service minded and including, making you feeling warmly welcomed, a really good example to be followed everywhere. If you want to stay close to/walking distance to the surroundings of the old town square, Karl bridge, the Castle and interesting museums, you will find it all by staying at this hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The decor is Old European, complete with frescoes, crystal chandeliers and gold. It is cozy and charming with a very good restaurant which serves a complete buffet breakfast which is included, and has excellent fine dining for dinner, as well. The staff was very friendly and the service was 5 star. They met us at the airport with a car and driver, even though, our flight was 2 hours delayed. They sent us with a box breakfast when we departed at 5 am, since it was before the buffet. The spa was delightful and reasonable for a hotel spa. We had massages. The hotel is next to the US embassy, so the cars have to be stopped to be checked before advancing down the street. It is also across the bridge from the historic core, but really only a 10 minute walk to all you need to see.

Unique hotel within walking distance to many tourist attractions in Prague. The hotel is located next the the American Embassy Which means you have little to worry about security wise. The outside is protected 24 hours a day by Prague and American police and inside by Marines. The street up to the hotel requires a search of all cars and trucks. The hotel itself is a bit of a maze at first as it is several houses built together. We had a Jr. Suite which was a nice size room king size bed, sitting area and nice bathroom. The included breakfast includes both a buffet and order off the menu. Nice sweets shop outside front desk. They have wind and cheese tasting at 5pm each day. The Charles Bridge is 1/2 a mile from the hotel and easy walk.

We arrived one hour late at the Prague airport. We had arranged a one-way transfer through the hotel to be picked up after retrieving our luggage. Our driver had tracked our flight so no worries! We were quickly transported to our hotel and were soon welcomed into the beautiful courtyard and the lovely registration room where we were given a glass of bubbly while we were checked in. My first impression of this hotel was "WOW!" Over the top in the baroque and the architecture. It sure worked! THis place has luxury and charm. I am normally a Four Seasons' gal, but for this trip, I wanted to explore more intimate hotels. The Alychymist Grand was amazing. Check-in: Warm reception staff with a general explanation of hotel and amenities. Great! Room: We were in 201. Great location. Beautiful appointments. My only criticism is the mattress, pillows and bed linens- just Okay. The hotel could bring this up a notch to make the sleep experience in the luxurious category. But hey, this is my one and only criticism of this hotel. Aquarius Restaurant: We dined here the first evening and it was okay to good. Service was excellent, food was fine not great. I was expecting more from a Michelin star restaurant. We had an included breakfast the next few mornings. Very good choices and service. I should mention that the dining room is absolutely beautiful and romantic. Spa: OMG! Probably one of the best that our well-travelled group have ever been to around the world. If anything.....just go to this hotel for the SPA!!! Location: Mala Strana. Great address. Much quieter in the evening that the Old Town which is across the Charles Bridge. Easy walking to everything. But beware! The city of Prague has the most uneven cobblestones of any city that I have visited in Europe. Watch your step! And I must mention that this hotel is also across the street from the US Embassy. Good or not so good? You decide with what is happening around the world. I will mention that I was very surprised that the only security coming up the street to the hotel and the embassy were some Czech police officers stopping and surveying cars. There were no pillars or barricades to slow a speeding vehicle as I have seen around other US embassies around the world. Strange and left me a bit unnerved. Special Amenities: I have to give a standing ovation to the Alchymist for providing an informal wine and cheese every evening from 5-6pm in the salon. This room was over the top beautiful in a heavy baroque way, but it worked! We met so many lovely people from all over the world and were excited to meet with them every evening for a glass of wine and some conversation. My TA readers, this is an area where the small gracious boutique hotels such as the Alchymist will trump the big luxury chain hotels. It is called intimacy and this hotel delivers. Conclusion: I would absolutely stay at this hotel again! We enjoyed our four nights at this hotel and really loved the city of Prague and her people! Happy and Safe Travels!

It is centrally located near many of the key attractions and within walking distance from shopping. It sits across the street from the US Embassy and so local security is at its best. The cobblestone streets, perfectly maintained homes and shops with the backdrop of the Prague Castle above it make this location one of the best in Prague. The hotel is a beautiful property that offers rooms of generous size and top quality amenities. Attention to detail is noted in every piece selected for the rooms and throughout the hotel. The hotel has interior fountains and gardens that are spectacular. The indoor pool and spa are a must see. The service is excellent and so is the quality of everything you will find at this hotel. The front door staff are very friendly and helpful. The staff within the hotel match their highly rated service. This hotel is definitely a 5 star property in an amazing city. Enjoy!!!
