Welina Terrace no longer serves full menu - what happened?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We've eaten dinner at the Welina Terrace a total of 3 times since the hotel opened. However this 3rd time, we were stunned to find out the Welina Terrace, the main bar with seated tables overlooking the view, no longer has a full dinner menu. Our prior 2 other times we enjoyed the multitude of Japanese inspired food, hot and cold, at the Terrace. They even had mini Hibachi grills for the guests to cook their meat and veggies. - However when we arrived last week, we were stunned that they whittled down the prior full menu of items to 4 Sushi related times. (not including the edamame, shishito peppers or sunomono salad), a wagyu sandwhich (shareable?) and veggie nigiri flight. Just Four Japanese seafood related items. What happened? - your earlier reply in April to someone who was told your hot kitchen at Welina was broken, was: " We - regret to learn about the shortcomings you experience at Welina Terrace .....This is not reflective of our usual standard of service..." - but it seems it is, as it seems permanent. - By comparison, the Seaview Terrace at Grand Hyatt Poipu has a huge dinner menu, and that's not even the main restaurant they have for dinner. - Maybe you are trying to direct people to your 1 Kitchen downstairs for the evening meal, though no dinner menu is shown on the website yet. (too recent a change?) However the waiter that we had at the Welina Terrace was incredibly nice and professional. (I think we had him at least one other time months ago.) I hope this drastic menu change is temporary. And please post your dinner menu on your website for the 1 Kitchen. Thank you.

Valet is horrible.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We are staying in Princeville and decided to head over for the breakfast buffet today. View was magical and the food was good. It would have been a 5 star review if not for the fact that it took 25 min to get our car from the valet. They must have lost/misplaced the ticket. We asked four times where the heck our car was and it was always “it’s coming”. It took us almost as long to get our car as it did to eat. 20 people who came out after us waited minutes to get their cars. So aggravating when you have somewhere to go. After the second time we asked about it, something should have been done instead of brushing us off. Really, for such a top notch hotel, such a poorly run unprofessional valet stand. Ruined the whole experience for us.

Not a five star hotel.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Positives: rooms have incredible views. Listening to the waves every morning and nught is incredible. Gym is a benchmark. Best gym in a hotel by far. Negatives: rooms are small. Food is shameful for a 5 star hotel. Not many choices in Princeville, so you might get stuck eating here. Quality of burger is similar to something akin to a cafeteria at your local city zoo. We had several issues with the service. The personnel is very nice and helpful, but unreliable. There is not a front desk. Makes it very difficult to find someone to get help or simply ask a question. Simple tasks that should take a couple minutes, end up taking over 15-20. Good luck if you have a boat tour and need to leave very early. Hotel is far away from rest of the island. Takes near an hour to get anywhere. Rains a lot in this part as well. Hotel is small, run out of things to do quickly. In summary: spend your money elsewhere. In comparison to other 5 stars we’ve stayed at, this one has a long way to go.

My new husband and I purchased a Luxury Link package to stay at the St. Regis Princeville Resort and we LOVED it! We have a spectacular ocean view and champagne upon arrival. Our breakfasts and a dinner were included with the package, and everything was delivered with the utmost grace and kindness. The food, the rooms, the service... everything was impeccable. What an incredible package! We highly recommend it to anyone!
