Castle Hill Resort & Spa in Proctorsville, Vermont

Hidden away in the heart of Vermont's scenic Green Mountains is the elegant full-service Castle Hill Resort & Spa. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this New England gem, located in lovely Ludlow, recaptures the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era. The estate, built at the turn of the 20th century, offers several styles of accommodations including rooms in the original mansion, as well as state-of-the-art resort-style homes. Guest rooms have varying appointments including decorative fireplaces, soothing whirlpool tubs, period furnishings and more. The freestanding homes are capsules of luxury offering complete privacy, multiple rooms and gourmet kitchens. On winter nights curl up in front of the fire, make a pot of bubbly fondue, or dim the lights and watch as snowflakes fall.

Dining at Castle Hill Resort and Spa is an experience all its own. The menu is a creation of French-influenced American cuisine offered at breakfast and dinner. The inn also boasts the only full-service spa in the region with a focus on fitness, wellness and mental restoration. Drape yourself across a massage table for a treatment that is likened to an out-of-body experience at this Aveda concept spa, where aromatherapy is also part of the philosophy. The region offers plenty of activities including skiing, sledding and snowshoeing during the winter, and golf, tennis, hiking and fly fishing dominating the warmer months. There are also outdoor concerts to enjoy, scenic gondola rides, leisurely drives through covered bridges, and plenty of shopping and gallery hopping too.

I travel a lot on my own for business so I am very accustom to the "glamour" of hotel life. I spent a couple of nights by myself at the Pointe Hotel, but this time was for leisure...I needed a quick relaxing- "charge your batteries" time. This was my first time in this area and let me tell you: IT WAS PERFECT! I spent most of my time at the pool at the spa and the sister propriety- The Beautiful Castle. My first night there I ventured up the hill to see the beautiful mansion. I was greeted by the very friendly concierge, Braca. He offered to show me around and then introduced me to Carmen, the hostess or perhaps restaurant manager..i am not sure. Carmen's outstanding customer service, professionalism, knowledge and attention to detail was mind blowing. She quickly offered me a drink in the charming library lounge while she talked to me about the area and recommended me some of her favorite area attractions to visit. Everything she told me fit my taste perfectly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick getaway or a romantic escapade. Honestly, the high level customer service blended with a charming and welcoming friendliness is hard to find. Outstanding job Castle hill Staff and Carmen- hats off to her! Thank you Carmen and Castle hill for being great ambassadors of this charming area in Vermont.

We grabbed a couptopia for this weekend stay. The Castle is nice with its old charm and interesting history. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for. We enjoyed the outdoor salt water pool and hot tub. Ludlow is a cute little town with some good restaurants and places to grab a cocktail. We took a trek about 45 mins away to go hiking and check out a brewery so the location of the hotel is pretty good.

The grounds, spa, accomodations and staff were fabulous; they could not have been more attentive and courteous. Dinner was beyond disappointing. Castle Hill should consider hiring a new chef to keep the cuisine up to par with the rest of the resort. Using canned beets in a $60 prix fixe course? Overly salted entrees, heavy sauces with offensive flavors, over-cooked lobster and WAY undercooked steak. It's hard to screw up scallops, but somehow they did that too. Dinner at the Village Grocer nearby was a far better dining experience.

We spent a wonderful 5 days at Castle Hill Resort and Spa. The leaves were just beginning to turn. Everything was perfect. It is so convenient to many attractions in a beautiful area in central Vermont.

Just a cute, quaint, very clean hotel. Very close to all kinds of activities!! Hotel staff is A+. The 2 pools are great, Our grandson loved them. Hot fresh "good" coffee is always available in the lobby.
