Castle Hill Resort & Spa in Proctorsville, Vermont

Hidden away in the heart of Vermont's scenic Green Mountains is the elegant full-service Castle Hill Resort & Spa. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this New England gem, located in lovely Ludlow, recaptures the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era. The estate, built at the turn of the 20th century, offers several styles of accommodations including rooms in the original mansion, as well as state-of-the-art resort-style homes. Guest rooms have varying appointments including decorative fireplaces, soothing whirlpool tubs, period furnishings and more. The freestanding homes are capsules of luxury offering complete privacy, multiple rooms and gourmet kitchens. On winter nights curl up in front of the fire, make a pot of bubbly fondue, or dim the lights and watch as snowflakes fall.

Dining at Castle Hill Resort and Spa is an experience all its own. The menu is a creation of French-influenced American cuisine offered at breakfast and dinner. The inn also boasts the only full-service spa in the region with a focus on fitness, wellness and mental restoration. Drape yourself across a massage table for a treatment that is likened to an out-of-body experience at this Aveda concept spa, where aromatherapy is also part of the philosophy. The region offers plenty of activities including skiing, sledding and snowshoeing during the winter, and golf, tennis, hiking and fly fishing dominating the warmer months. There are also outdoor concerts to enjoy, scenic gondola rides, leisurely drives through covered bridges, and plenty of shopping and gallery hopping too.

My husband and I just returned home from a four day stay. We always stay in the castle. We adore it! I won't tell you our favorite room!!! The staff is fantastic!! Dianne was our server in the castle dining room. Her positive energy is contagious!!! I love her! Paula and Heather are also pretty special. I cannot recall the host for breakfast, but he was excellent. The grounds are an abundance of gardens that are stunning. We enjoyed the heated pool and spa services too! Palmer gives a great deep tissue massage. The chef at the Castle is exquisite. Dining at the Castle is truly a magnificent event, romantic, wonderful staff, and the best chef we have ever experienced. There is also a gym on the property. Just a reminder, if you do bring your children, try to keep them under control at the outside pool. The pool is for relaxation, not your backyard pool. The children this trip were well behaved. Other times we visited, it was bad!!!!!! I believe management has addressed this issue. I cant wait to go again in August. We fell in love with the history, ambiance, and the staff her. Thank you Andy for a wonderful vacation once again. Andy is the manger. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the area. Strawberry picking, hiking , swimming in Quechee Gorge, shopping, bike riding, etc. Thank you again!!!

The staff and service is excellent. The spa was wonderful had massage that was so relaxing I couldn't wait to take a nap. The only thing on the first night the room was for anyone staying with a dog it was very clean.. But if you have dog allergies not good told front desk they quickly move us to a new room the manager was very apologetic and sent a bottle of champagne to the room.

Our wedding at Castle Hill couldn't have gone any better! From the start Lisa, the wedding coordinator, was responsive, gave us advice from previous weddings, and helped us feel prepared for our wedding weekend! We met with her in person at different times before the wedding (including once when I had a broken ankle and needed accommodations to get around!). The staff was also great. Our families and friends felt accommodated for, and spent time at both the Pointe Hotel and received services at the Spa. It was a comfort to know that everyone there made sure we were all taken care of. I also had my makeup and nails done at the Spa, and everything was perfect. From trial runs to the day before couples massage, if you're looking for a beautiful location where everyone can spend time celebrating this is the right spot. We're so happy that we chose Castle Hill for a perfect weekend!

We used Travelzoo vouchers to get decent rates for rooms 4 (best) and 9 (almost as good) for $369/each for two night stay that had to begin on a Friday night. The hotel is historic and the furnishings are grand. We did not use coupons for discounts for massage and dinner, but there are so many enjoyable restaurant choices in the Okemo Valley that we didn't regret not using them. Beds are high and comfortable, linens, toiletries, and pillows superior. We began each day with an excellent continental breakfast with homemade pastries for $9.99 each. There's a gym and a pool. Hard to imagine any better min-vacation!

My wife and I stayed here in the mansion overnight on June 25th, for a mini, one night away. It was a last minute, spur of the moment night away. Very nice place; very comfortable and welcoming. We were in room 11, top floor, king sized room with a king bed, fireplace, love seat, two armchairs and still plenty of room. The room was huge compared to other hotels. We did spend some time at the pool and spa and there's a nice fitness center that wasn't crowded at all. It was bigger than I've seen at other hotels / spas so that was nice. The only negative, which was due to a personal injury, was the three flights of stairs needed to be climbed to get to the top floor. This is not a dig on the facility but it should be a concern if someone has a problem with a leg injury.
