Castle Hill Resort & Spa in Proctorsville, Vermont

Hidden away in the heart of Vermont's scenic Green Mountains is the elegant full-service Castle Hill Resort & Spa. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this New England gem, located in lovely Ludlow, recaptures the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era. The estate, built at the turn of the 20th century, offers several styles of accommodations including rooms in the original mansion, as well as state-of-the-art resort-style homes. Guest rooms have varying appointments including decorative fireplaces, soothing whirlpool tubs, period furnishings and more. The freestanding homes are capsules of luxury offering complete privacy, multiple rooms and gourmet kitchens. On winter nights curl up in front of the fire, make a pot of bubbly fondue, or dim the lights and watch as snowflakes fall.

Dining at Castle Hill Resort and Spa is an experience all its own. The menu is a creation of French-influenced American cuisine offered at breakfast and dinner. The inn also boasts the only full-service spa in the region with a focus on fitness, wellness and mental restoration. Drape yourself across a massage table for a treatment that is likened to an out-of-body experience at this Aveda concept spa, where aromatherapy is also part of the philosophy. The region offers plenty of activities including skiing, sledding and snowshoeing during the winter, and golf, tennis, hiking and fly fishing dominating the warmer months. There are also outdoor concerts to enjoy, scenic gondola rides, leisurely drives through covered bridges, and plenty of shopping and gallery hopping too.

We loved our stay at the castle, the room was perfect. The gardens were absolutely beautiful! We had dinner as well and it was delicious. We loved that the outdoor heated pool. We will definitely be back soon!

We loved the castle! The restaurant at the castle with its romantic ambience and the delectable food as well as the heated pool were our highlights. The garden was very pretty too although we didn't have time for it due to the rain. But we still enjoyed the pool while singing 'rain over me' :) The customer service was excellent, not only in handling our hotel- related requests but actually being a guide for the whole area. We'd love to go back!

I have driven by many times and always wanted to experience this resort. Extremely glad I finally tried it. WOW, the main castle is quaint, the rooms are very clean and spacious. The bathroom needs updating, but that would spoil the era ambiance. Explore the manor to appreciate the decor. The restaurant is wonderful. Grab a bottle of wine and a gourmet meal; it will be a memory!

Yes this house/hotel is from 1913 era but you must love the time period to enjoy this place. The food in the restaurant was very good and we had a romantic evening by the fire eating leisurely. I would return and for me that says it all

The house was beautiful but our room was horrible. While our friends enjoyed a beautiful view of the woods we had a street view. Our room was dark and depressing. The jacuzzi did not work, the lighting was awful, not enough towels for two people, no shower, just a tub that was dangerous to get in and out of (I fell and hurt my elbow), there were ugly pipes in our room, a loud heater, and no place to relax comfortably. The food was overpriced. Our friends had a larger room with working jacuzzi, a bright beautiful bath, a fireplace, a cozy couch, and a beautiful view, yet we both payed the same price . I feel totally ripped off and depressed. I will never visit again despite the great skiing the area has to offer. SUCKS
