This is a clothing optional resort. That is one of the reasons we like it. We have been here several times and we keep coming back. The staff are wonderful. The rooms are clean. The food is pretty good.

Just returned from 4 days at Desire Pearl which was designed as a check on the property for a longer stay in the future. The results were generally very, very impressive. The staff were all helpful, polite, willing and professional (Sinue in Aphrodite was outstanding). The room was delightful. The food far exceeded our expectations and was definitely a highlight of the stay. The garden & grounds are beautiful and well maintained And now the BUT...my wife has long suffered from "prickly heat" brought on by too much direct sunlight. A little sun is fine but then shade is required. A bit difficult if there is a scarcity of umbrellas!. As with the previous review, this was a real problem and one which will prevent us from returning unless we can be sure that management have taken note and provided more cover. Unlike the previous review, we are happy to tip for good service but not for providing items that should be considered necessary. How can a resort in such a climate not provide adequate shade for those not used to the heat? We will monitor trip advisor for further information on this issue and hope for a resolution so that we can return.

Would give it 5 stars, but no available umbrellas was inexcusable. The quiet side of the pool had only one umbrella and the activity side had umbrellas for only half of the chairs. To ensure that we had an umbrella on the activity side we had to tip (or bribe) the pool boy (G) $ 20 US a day. It was impossible to get an umbrella on the quiet side. I blame management for not providing an adequate number of umbrellas. We were there March 12 to 19 2017. This complaint was common amongst non members. This issue was quite a downer! Other than that one issue, everything was top notch and we will be giving the Pearl another visit next year. Management has to recify this issue!

We love this place! The food is excellent. The drinks have alcohol. The physical plant is well maintained. The rooms are very nice. The beach is well maintained, which is not easy given the seaweed that’s plagued the entire coastline. But… It’s the staff that really makes the place a desirable destination. (Warning, this is a long list, but they’re all too wonderful to not be mentioned.) Starting with arrival, Esteban is there to greet you warmly, unload your bags from the shuttle, and take care of them while you check in. The front desk staff is among the best we’ve ever experienced at any Caribbean resort. In particular, Gabriel and Josephina feel like family, but without the baggage. They will bend over backwards to help make your stay a pleasant one. The new front-desk manager, Mimi is also warm and accommodating. She’s a wonderful addition also. Members of the resort also have personal butlers who help smooth out any rough edges or personal needs. Carlos and Hector are always helpful in our experience. The rooms are well cleaned and appointed. Once the check-in is completed and the bags are in the room, clothes are dropped and you’re in the care of the entertainment and pool staffs. There has been some turnover in the entertainment staff, but the core of Kia and Charlie is still strong. Despite the turnover, the new staff is also wonderful and talented. Mia and Edu (from Colombia) are fantastically friendly and fun. Kayla (from South Africa) is also wonderful. The poolside servers go out of their way to make sure your every need is covered, particularly the servers (Jesus is a standout here) and, for members again, Graciliano and Victor and Irving make sure your preferred location is reserved as long as you’re staying and move umbrellas in order to either maximize or minimize your sun exposure. The staff at Aphrodite, from the hostess to the wait staff is universally wonderful, but deserving mention are Dayane, the hostess, who makes you feel so incredibly welcome at every meal, and servers (Antonio is incredible, as are Fabriola and Marquez). Gerry, who makes smoothies outside Aphrodite in the mornings is cheerful and helpful and makes great smoothies. Erayder, the manager at Pearl (the more formal restaurant) is very helpful and accommodating and the wait staff, again, without exception is exemplary. The daytime entertainment staff moonlights (literally) as the evening entertainment staff, with a couple of additions: B (Bea?) is reputed to be one of the best pole dancers in the world, and nothing we’ve seen her do will in any way dispute that honor. A new dancer, Alyse from Russia via Cirque de Soleil in Macau is also spectacular. Kia’s aerial act is not to be missed, also. Any time you stay at a small resort like this one the quality of the visit is, to some extent, determined by who else is staying there when you are. That’s just the luck of the draw, BUT, because of the quality of the staff, and the carefully curated ambience, almost everyone seems to have a great time. We’ve been there 3 times in about a year, most recently for 9 days, which sums up our feelings, but even as the folks come and go the quality of the experience remains high. Again, we love this place.

The grounds, staff, and rooms, we stayed in a master suite were exceptional, food was good but sometimes inconsistent. Found room service food delivered on time and can be pre scheduled. Pool chairs and beach papalas can be chosen the day before. Priority does go to members and it does benefit greatly to join.
