An Exceptional Luxury Getaway in Puerto Vallarta

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

I recently stayed at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The resort’s beautiful location between the Pacific Ocean and the lush mountains creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while still being conveniently close to downtown Puerto Vallarta. The rooms were spacious, modern, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with stunning views that made the stay even more enjoyable. The staff consistently provided outstanding service, always friendly, attentive, and eager to help. The amenities were excellent, including beautiful pools, great dining options, a lovely beach, and plenty of activities to enjoy. Despite being a popular resort, the noise level remained low, making it easy to relax and unwind. Overall, Garza Blanca offers outstanding value for a luxury vacation, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Puerto Vallarta.

May 23-29,2026 trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 hours ago

Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta Review – May 23–29, 2026 I take a yearly trip to Puerto Vallarta every May. The last two years I stayed at the Hilton, and before that at Secrets. My sister has stayed at Mousai every October for the past three years and highly recommended Garza Blanca, so I booked my stay back in September 2025 and was looking forward to experiencing the property. Upon arrival, the reception experience was good, and Ariana was very helpful. However, we were never informed that Room 4061B was a remodeled room. The room looked quite different from the photos shown when booking, although I will say the remodeled room was attractive and updated. There were several communication issues throughout the stay. The safe did not include instructions on how to reset it, and our toilet clogged on the first night. It was only after maintenance came that we learned we were staying in a remodeled room. We were also never given instructions on how to access the internet, which resulted in more than $100 in internet charges by the end of the trip, even though my reservation included Premium Wi-Fi. We also received no guidance on how to operate the room's curtains. Unfortunately, where my experience really went downhill was with the concierge team. After check-in, I was referred to the concierge staff, and my interactions—especially with Lorena—were extremely disappointing. She was rude, unprofessional, and seemed upset because I had no interest in attending a sales presentation. I was on vacation to relax, not to be pressured into meetings. Her approach felt aggressive and uncomfortable. She even questioned why I didn't stay at Secrets if I had family members involved with a timeshare there. In addition, she told us we were not allowed to use any of the Sanctuary amenities, which turned out to be completely untrue. On a positive note, the staff throughout the resort were excellent. The Sanctuary pool staff, especially Lorena, Carlos, and the entire team, provided outstanding service. Gonzalo at the beach pool was also exceptional. The ceviche class was one of the highlights of the trip. Marcos at the Mousai Bar made excellent drinks, and Sergio and Miguel Angel at Hiroshi provided fantastic service and delicious food. Edson at the Sports Bar was friendly, attentive, and made great drinks as well. The food overall was very good. We enjoyed Dao, Noi, Hiroshi, and Bocados tremendously. The only disappointment was the Mexican restaurant, which did not feel authentic. In comparison, I found the Mexican restaurant at the Hilton to be much better. One additional concern was the handling of restaurant reservations. Guests should receive much more advance notice when reservations are canceled. We had three dinner reservations canceled due to low occupancy and were not notified until the same day. We also had reservations at Karuma that had been booked since February, only to learn three days before our visit that they had been canceled for a private event. Would I return? Possibly. The property itself is beautiful, the majority of the staff were excellent, and the dining experience was enjoyable. However, I would only consider returning if I did not have to deal with the concierge sales team, as they added no value to my vacation experience. In fact, my daughter handled all of our reservations herself. Garza Blanca has a wonderful property and many outstanding employees. With better communication, improved guest orientation upon arrival, and a less aggressive concierge sales approach, the guest experience would improve significantly.

Genuine hospitality, harmonious balance of local and global cuisine, fine decor, posh feature facilities with a thoughtful gesture… El PARAISO Mexicano es… SANCTUARY.
