Aquiles (Tour the Emperor)was a wonderful tour guide. It was set up through the hotel. He was very knowledgeable about area. Pointed out wildlife and uses of plants. He even helped me with my mosquito bites by providing a rainforest remedy of cacao fruit... and got us organic cacao butter for the rest of our trip. Kayaking and hiking was so fun on the beautiful P. Uvo Beach. He even went or of his way to show us downtown Puerto Viejo. He and his family were very personable. Highly recommend 😊

Had our wedding at the NOA beach club. It was perfect and breathtaking. However my stay at the hotel left much to be desired. It is absolutely gorgeous but my room was not very clean. Tried to shower but water took forever to get warm and when it did the water pressure was too low to get the soap out of my hair. So I had to take a cold shower. The room AC didn't work and my hair dresser had a very hard time doing my hair due to humidity and heat. Hotel worker looked at it but never got someone to address the issue. The room fan did not work either. Room phone did not work. Got a new room phone neither of which worked. Couldn't get room service because woke up to a not working phone. Very disappointed in the overall hotel room and accommodation. But again wedding of my dreams. Can't complain about that.

It took us 7 1/2 hour to get there (horrible traffic) but it was all worth it. The hotel is bedded inside a jungle and is well designed with French influence. The name of the hotel, Le Chameleon, was reflected by every day color changes: staff uniforms, room pillows, art pieces on the walls, and lights in the pool. The room was beautiful, with a jungle view outside of our balcony and very clean. We saw multiple exotic birds while resting there. The staff from a reception area to a restaurant was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good with variety of food, and we tried every day a different dish. Be aware of flies and bugs getting to feast on the food, but it's a tropical area after all. Lauren and Jessica answered our curious question about Costa Rican culture and lifestyle. Get to know staff personally, they are very kind and welcoming. A private beach and a bar was across the street with plenty of lounges and food/drinks. We didn't like that music was too loud, starting around 10:20am, but to each its own. It took away from the beauty and peacefulness of this place. Also, I would not advise to swim there as the undercurrent and waves are too powerful. Ironically, on my birthday, there was a 5 hours power outage, so it was tricky to use a bathroom. Luckily for us it was fixed, and we enjoyed out scheduled dinner in a nearby Italian restaurant. I gave this review 4 stars because we had a couple of issues, Our key to the room didn't work well, we had to recharge it almost daily even though it was not near our cell phones. In addition, the shower water was too cool for a coupe of days and it was not that pleasant to take a shower since we're used to have hot water back home. Overall, the hotel and the beautiful area around it was a magical place and we would stay there again. I highly recommend to stay in this paradise.

This chic hotel provides about everything you could ask for! We even had a chance to meet The owner and he is super nice and very knowledgeable about the area! They have fantastic servers and chef andres is the best!! Food is delicious! Melissa is also very knowledgeable about the area and what's good and what's not!! She speaks very well English , also gets with andres too! ( I apologize, but it was very nice to talk to them since I know very very little spanish😳) I would recommend to anyone! Best in the area hands down! I would definitely stay here again!

So when we arrived at Le Cameleon our first impressions were less than great. Noone helped us with our luggage and when someone finally turned up at the front desk, it was hardly the warmest of welcomes. We were however given a welcome drink and shown to our room. When we walked into the room the smell of damp hit us, however there was no damp marks anywhere and yes the rooms are in need of a bit of TLC, i.e. peeling paint and scuff marks on the floor, however I suppose in a completely white hotel this is to be expected. However it was clean and comfortable We had a ground floor room and the balcony felt really gloomy, but as my husband pointed out, it was effectively in a forest so I soon stopped complaining. My first impression was that is was trying a little bit too hard, almost wanting to be the Delano in Miami but on a travelodge budget. However over the next 4 days my opinion of this place completely changed. So breakfast, was pretty basic but had everything you needed, there was fresh fruit and Juice. Also bread, cheese and salad and then you could choose off of a menu for your main event. The breakfasts are predominantly aimed at the american market, which makes sense as most guests when we were staying were american. We went for eggs most days which were fine. We also ate at the hotel restaurant on one occasion, which was a little bit disastrous as they had run out of Rum, the beer fridge had also broken and there was no vegetarian option. However they did rectify the beer situation by putting it on ice and the chef made us some delicious vegetarian pasta so it worked out in the end. Most days we ate lunch at the beach bar Noa and this was great, lovely choice of food and really friendly staff as well as a great view. However the music is quite loud if you are anywhere near the speakers!! The pool area at the hotel itself is really nice, and never seemed that busy - we used this most days. However the absolutely best thing about this hotel is the wildlife and it really changed the whole way I felt about this place. Most mornings I would be up before 6am, taking photos of the beautiful birds, lizards and Agoutis around the grounds. So when the gardener came across a sloth very low down in a tree, he came to get me so I could see it, which was so lovely. The hotel itself is a 5 minute walk from the local supermarket for water etc and very near the Jaguar rescue centre, which is a must for wildlife lovers. So after not the best of starts, I realised I actually quite liked this place and felt really relaxed after my stay here.
