Flooded room, hard beds, 2-star hotel for 5-star prices.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Just do yourself a favor and don’t make the mistake of staying in this two star hotel that pretends to be five stars. Where do I start? Night one: a junior suite where the AC was blowing hard directly on our faces all night. We think they had to put the bed by the door because the window was right next to the screaming kids in the pool. Night two they moved us to a room with two full beds and we are a couple so that didn’t work. Several broken things in this room but night three was the worst when they moved us to an Oceanside suite and the room literally flooded because the AC was broken and no one fixed it despite us reporting it the night before. We had several damaged items and after repeatedly messaging with no response, we showed up to request a refund (after moving to the Aguas Clara which is wonderful) and they gave us a measly 70 bucks (our flooded room was 500 a night). The beds were rock hard and the sheets were scratchy. I doubt this place will exist in another few years. On a happy note the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were there during a busy week and they did their best with the crappy facilities they have. The place is very lucky to have a nice staff because it’s their only saving grace.

Wonderful spot right on Playa Carmen

Beautiful spot right on Playa Carmen. Our second time visiting. The food was delicious, we had the burger and the fish sandwich with fries. Service was excellent, thank you to Darren and crew for taking care of us and being so sweet with our baby! Plenty of parking, which is rare in Santa Teresa, very convenient.

Chic beachside boutique hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The are a variety of rooms at this resort. Some very new and nice, some older and not as nice, hence the 4 star review for one of the older rooms. The grounds, pools and restaurant are first class. Included breakfast was good on the four nights we stayed here. There are two super Mercados 10 minutes away by walking. The best restaurant we ate at in Puerto Vieja, Spicy Cocunt, is a short walk away. There is a place to rent bikes, motor bikes and ATVs next door. This resort is too far away to walk to town of Puerto Vieja. I’d stay here again.

What a great hotel!

We had a wonderful stay at Le Cameleon in one of the rooms with a private pool on the beach side of the hotel. The room was very large with a separate living room and an exta half bath. It was very clean, and the cleaning staff did a great job keeping it that way during our stay. There was a furnished, covered patio right outside the room, with an additional lounge area and outdoor shower by the pool, which looked directly onto the Caribbean Sea. It was very private, and a nice break from mingling with others in the resort pools, all of which were very nice and well kept. Evrey single staff person we encountered were very nice and very helpful. The massages were amazing, the restaurant and bar were great, the service was wonderful in all aspects - at the bar, the restaurant, the beach cabanas, etc. The grounds are being constantly cleaned and maintained, and there are lots of places to relax whether you want to be with other people or prefer solitude. There are a couple of really good restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel, and the hotel arranged a taxi for us to Puerto Viejo, just a few miles away. The hotel was very safe, family friendly, and we had an amazing time. I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful resort with friendly, helpful staff

We booked this hotel in a hurry after a flood in our nearby rented villa meant we had to immediately vacate. So it turned out to be a wonderful surprise for our family - not having had any preview of this hotel and its offerings. My wife and I had a huge beachfront suite which was very luxurious and had the largest TV I've ever seen! Plus very comfortable beds and electric curtains/shutters onto a balcony. Our late-teen children had a room each near the pool on the Reception side of the complex, across the road. We found all the staff incredibly helpful and friendly, especially due to our awful villa experience which threatened to ruin our holiday. The restaurant meals and cocktails were so good that we didn't even bother to look elsewhere to eat! The beach furniture was kept clean and the gardens tidy. We were also treated to exceptional wildlife encounters: howler monkeys in the trees, lizards and colourful frogs, plus the most adorable sloths - one came down from a tree near Reception to wander about just a few feet away from us! Even the nearby sanctuary (which is well worth going to) didn't let us get that near! We felt very relaxed in this beautiful hotel resort and would highly recommend staying here - on the beachfront if you can.
