Reviews for Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana

A wonderful All-Inclusive in the DR for a family with young children!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

We just returned from a five-day stay here as a family of four: two adults and two elementary-aged children. We loved it! This was our children's first all-inclusive resort experience, though my husband and I have been to many other all-inclusives around the Caribbean over the years. My kids are experienced travelers and used to high-energy activities (mega ships, theme parks, etc.), so I wasn't sure how they'd do with just pools and a beach, particularly considering we live in Central Florida. They had an amazing time and are already begging to go back! Here's what we loved: - The location was wonderful - a very quick shuttle from PUJ. We used Amstar for private transfer and they worked out great. The resort has a beach side, and a Preferred side that is further from the beach - a 10 minute walk through a nature preserve or a two minute golf cart ride. We stayed in a Preferred Club Premium Suite Garden View on the Preferred side. These rooms have a bedroom, a living space with a door separating the two, and two full bathrooms, and they all seemed to be on the 3rd (top) floor. The 2nd floor was regular garden view rooms, and the ground floor were swim-out rooms. The room was clean and fresh and decently appointed. It wasn't the most luxurious resort room I've ever stayed in, but it definitely wasn't the worst. For the little time we spent in the room it was perfect. - There were multiple pools, a splash pad, and a mini water park. The big main pool on the "everybody" side of the resort was closest to the beach with multiple lazy river arms (they call it a lazy river but there's no current) had a hopping DJ, water sports, and a swim-up bar. We avoided that bar as that seemed geared more for the party type folks. Closer to the lobby / theater in the middle of the "everybody" side of the resort was a stunning infinity pool with swim-up bar, and a shallow pool. We spent a lot of time of time here - gorgeous vegetation, great service, and not too crowded. Behind that off the main lobby was the splash pad with two small water slides, a water dumping bucket, and a few water features that the kids loved. My five year old was there daily. Right next to that is another large pool with four water slides: a four-across straight-down racing slide, a steeper open racing slide, an open corkscrew slide, and a closed-top corkscrew slide. Everyone's favorites seemed to be the racing slides. We never had a line, though there were always people. There are chairs and umbrellas back there, and there's a large sunbathing shelf for the parents to sit in and watch their kids (or adult friends) go down the slides. Be forewarned the slide height for these slides is about 54", so make sure your child is tall enough to avoid disappointment. We liked the Preferred pool area the best, exclusively on the Preferred side. The swim-up bar was better (Luis was amazing!), with a larger variety and better drinks, and it was much quieter, even though there were kids around (like ours!). There was also a shallow pool in this area, as well. We never had a problem getting a chair, umbrella, or usually one of the many open-to-all beach beds. For reference they said the resort was only about 50% full. - The food was REALLY good - far better than most of the Caribbean all-inclusives we've stayed at. The Preferred side pizza was freshly made and superb - breakfast and lunch both at Seaside Grill (Preferred only) were fantastic. Tres Colores - the Mexican restaurant - was some of the best Mexican we've had. The main buffet was very nice for lunch, as was the Preferred buffet for breakfast. Room service was decent. Portofino's the Italian restaurant was meh and the hibachi was definitely sub-par compared to hibachis on say Royal Caribbean ships and in the States, but it was still okay. If you can't get a reservation to the Hibachi restaurant, and just eat off the regular menu or skip it entirely, you won't miss much. - The beach was very clean and well-maintained, with plenty of preferred chairs and umbrellas available. We also paid for a beach cabana one day and it was 100% worth it. Yes, there was sargassum, but the resorts there all had netting set up that caught 95% of it, and beach sweepers picking it up every half hour or so from the beach. One day we waded through it a little bit to get to the sand bars, and there were some errant clumps in the water, but the day we got the cabana there was practically no sargassum in the water. I think it's luck of the draw, but the resorts here were doing everything they could do stop the invasion. We really enjoyed the beach as a result of their efforts. - The service was wonderful! Our butler, Junior C., was 100/10 amazing! I can't say enough good things about him. We're used to having butler service with maybe 10 rooms or fewer per butler, and these butlers have up to 50 families as we understand it, but we never would have noticed. Junior always came to find us and say hello and make sure we were okay, checking in on What's App frequently. He got us towels when we couldn't find them one day, fixed a dining hiccup we had, made sure I had wine delivered to the room, and just overall made sure that we didn't hit any frustration points during our stay. The last day, as we were leaving before he arrived at work (the butlers are 9am - 5pm), I realized I had left my kindle at the beach cabana the day before. My husband ran all over the resort looking for it before 7:30am, but no luck. We had an 8am airport shuttle, so I texted Junior explaining the situation, that I knew he wasn't at work yet and didn't expect a response, but if he found my kindle in the next day, I'd like to see about having it shipped home. He was on it immediately, even though he wasn't on the clock yet, and within minutes had tracked it down and had a concierge bring it to us and meet us at the shuttle van with it. Not only am I impressed that nobody stole it, but that they were able to find it, hustle, and get it back to me before my flight, all thanks to Junior. We'd like to return, and we'll definitely be requesting Junior when we do! Other notable staff were Issac at the Preferred Lounge bar, and Luis at the Preferred pool swim-up bar. They were friendly and great to chat with, and made great drinks! Other tidbits: - We didn't even have time to go to the kids club, but we did a couple of the activities as we saw them around the resort, and the kids enjoyed them. We stumbled on a glow dance party one night at the theater, for example. Next time we'll have the kids do more kids club activities. - There are sunscreen and paperback book stations around the resort - I thought this was a very nice extra touch! - The shows were cute, and about what you'd expect from a Caribbean resort. Fun to watch, interactive, and a great end to the day. - Most of the kids were well-behaved, but some parents let their kids free-roam the resort, and not all of those kids had manners. More than once we had to tell 10-ish year olds to stop splashing at the bar because nobody wants a chlorinated drink. The employees were usually on it, however, and reprimanded kids who weren't acting right. - Smoking and playing music on speakers was highly regulated and policed per local laws, which was great for this family who wants to enjoy calm tropical sounds and who doesn't smoke. - There are beach vendors on the beach - lots of them. Most were pretty chill. Blankets, beach jewelry, carved pieces, sunglasses, bathing suits, cover ups, hats, etc. Also multiple ladies offering massages. A polite "no, gracias" once or twice and they went elsewhere. The tour guys were the most persistent, but once I told them we had a small child and a flight the next day, they backed off quickly understanding we weren't just a hard sell, we were a definitive no. - In the main lobby, specific staff will offer you a $200 resort discount coupon for a 4-hour timeshare sell (they claim it's an hour - it's never an hour). Do what you will with that information. - We felt that Preferred was VERY much worth it for the benefit of Junior and his excellent services, as well as the better location, restaurants, and total ease of the vacation. When we return, it will definitely be Preferred again, likewise at any other Dreams we may visit.

The best Dreams Royal Punta Cana Experience

Our family of 20 had an absolutely amazing stay at Dreams Royale Punta Cana. Every staff member made us feel welcomed and cared for. A special thank-you to Martin, our exceptional Preferred Club concierge, for going above and beyond throughout our stay. Noel and Albert at the Preferred Pool Bar provided outstanding service and always made us feel like family. Luis, Franco, and Pedro at the Lobby Bar were incredible, with special recognition to Luis for personally checking on us and bringing drinks to our swim-up suite. Thank you for making our vacation unforgettable—we cannot wait to return!

Amazing

Amazing experience, our 2nd trip to same hotel. Staff, food, cleanliness, sites were all amazing! Only issue was the construction as it was loud and wasn’t pleasant. Really frustrating because travel agency confirmed in an email that we would not notice as the work would be away from where we would be during our stay which was completely false

I went with my family of 5 to the Dreams Royal hotel. It was nothing short of amazing. The amenities, the ambience, the pools, hospitality, rooms, atmosphere… the weather is perfect and every single worker was happy to help in any way they could. I would definitely recommend

I enjoyed the stay at this resort. I went for my birthday and I thought the stay was fantastic. I enjoyed the food a lot, the bartending was great, the pools were awesome and even enjoyed the waterslides. I'm 35+ as well.
