Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana

We really wanted to like this resort. Having been to many AIs in Mexico, we had many expectations that would have been easily met at most resorts of this caliber in Mexico. Unfortunately, the experience at this resort in the DR was very different. The hotel grounds are nice. The Preferred Club Suite King was a very nice suite although some preferred buildings are in a separate part of the resot that are not close to the main lobby area or the beach (reachable by foot over a bridge or using the resort golf cart). The biggest problem for us was the food quality. Breakfast was definitely not a highlight. While there was a lot of variety, the quality was just not the greatest. We had lunch once in the main buffet but chose not to return our entire stay just because it felt overwhelming and chaotic. We had most of our meals at the Preferred Restaurant where they had buffet for breakfast, a la carte menu for lunch (portofino) and nice dinner buffet spread (and a la carte) in the evenings. You never felt anyone was in charge. Waiters seldom came to your table to check on how things were going. Coffee at breakfast was filled once and the coffee cart never returned a single time every single time. Biggest surprise was lack of towel service on the beach or at the pool. In fact, most of the time during the day, there were no towels to be found.

We recently stayed at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana and overall had a fantastic holiday. The resort itself is beautiful, very well maintained, and offers a great range of facilities. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We genuinely felt welcomed throughout and really appreciated the level of service provided. However, there is one aspect of the experience that we feel needs improvement, the restaurant system. While we understand the concept of not requiring reservations, in practice this caused significant frustration during our stay. On several occasions, we arrived at restaurants that appeared nearly empty, only to be told there was a wait time of up to an hour. Unfortunately, these wait times were often extended further once we were already waiting. Travelling with children made this particularly challenging, as long and unpredictable waits for dinner are not ideal and, at times, really detracted from what was otherwise a wonderful experience. It was disappointing given how much we enjoyed every other aspect of the resort. We would strongly recommend introducing a reservation or time-slot booking system, similar to what is offered at other Dreams resorts. Allowing guests to book a dining time, with unclaimed reservations being released would help manage expectations, reduce waiting times, and significantly improve the overall guest experience. We also noticed the ‘preferred club’ members being treated differently in the restaurants which did make you feel a slightly lower class if not paying the extra for this (even though the holiday was a very large expense, especially coming from the UK). Despite this issue, we did have a great holiday and would still recommend the resort. With a more efficient restaurant system in place, and to be treated at a similar level to the preferred club members, the experience would be even better.

Great family hotel. The hotel is spotless and the staff extremely welcoming and helpful. The beach is cleaned of sargassum very day unlike some neighbouring hotels. The kids loved the pools and lazy river. Food was a bit of a mix, with some very good experiences and some not so. The entertainment repeats every week so if you stay for longer you get the same shows. However, this would not stop us going back again.

What a great experience! This was probably the best all inclusive I have ever been to. We stayed in the prferred area and it was defintely worth it.We loved our swim out room, the lines were shorter, it was less crowded. Special props to our concierge, Marcelo, was fantastic. What a great, friendly, helpful guy! Alfredo and Nelson at Portofino were so welcoming; they learned our names once and didn't forget! The grounds here are pristine and the pools are stunning. The beach is well maintained and the cabanas are worth the price. We had great service at every bar and at our cabana (shout out to Delvi, Leonardo, and JD) and even Sandy, the bell man, made things more plesant. It was a clean resort and worth every penny. Just like every other all inclusive, you get sort of sick of the food by the end, but everything was good. Let's be honest - you don't go to an all inclusive for haute cuisine. You go for a stress free experience and relaxation we got it!

We had a great time at Dreams. The atmosphere is welcoming, the pools are nice, and the entertainment staff is amazing. The cleanliness is just ok. The beach is wonderful! Always easy to find a chair or cabana. It did not seem crowded. Not too impressed with the food. I am usually easy to please with food, very simple and plain. Just was not all that great. The grounds are beautiful! We had a large group and we were all pleased with our vacation.
