Very disappointing stay. We arrived late - 2AM, but we knew this was going to be the case so we prepared as best as we could. We did the pre-check-in to avoid an unnecessarily long check-in process at 2AM and we pre-ordered 2 foam pillows to the room due to allergies. We knew we were not going to want to wait an extra 30 minutes for their arrival in our room at such a late hour. Further to this, I asked for a quiet room away from noisy activity areas and elevators. I had received 2 confirmation messages from the hotel prior to my arrival that my requests had been actioned and all would be well when I arrived. Well, we arrived at 2AM, and we were faced with a 40 minute check-in process, despite having already checked in online and being the only guests present at the check-in desk. Once we finally arrived at our room, we opened the door to find 4 massive spiders (the size of mice) on our floor and wall. While I understand this is the tropics, it was clear upon further inspection that this room had not been used by guests or serviced by house keeping for quite some time. They should have done an inspection prior to our arrival, but they did not. We killed the spiders and moved on - it was 240AM by this point. We then walked around the corner of our room and noticed that the pillows we had been promised were NOT in our room (we had received 2 confirmation from staff by message prior to our arrival that this request had been actioned). So we had to call down and ask for them; except the phone would not work. It was completely dead. So back to reception we go. By 320AM, we were finally back in our room with our pillows. When we woke 3 hours later to drilling and kids running around, we were not overly happy. Construction was happening right outside our door and directly across the hall from us was the kids club. Another failed promise. Who places a Gold member guest, who asked for a quiet room, in the closest room possible to a kids club? So, at this point, we knew that continued sleep was no longer an option. So we get up, get showered and go for a walk to the beach before our departure (this was only an overnight stay prior to our real vacation beginning). Upon arrival back to our room, we had been locked out. Our card no longer worked as they had accidentally ‘checked us out’ (per the front desk when we arrived there asking for a new key). Back to our room to grab our bags and head back to actually check out. At checkout, we were not asked at all how our stay was - absolutely horrendous service. Won’t be back.

Beautiful experience. The people were friendly and accommodating. The property is well maintained. The beach is amazing.

We stayed at the Westin for four nights during tropical storm Melissa. The hotel staff is great, Ruth who cleaned our room was always smiling. If you want a destination to rest and disconnect, this is the place. The food in all 5 restaurants was great. The only downside was that my husband asked for a cake for my birthday thru emails and staff, and we never got it, and that due to the storm the beach was flooded with sargassum.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Westin Puntacana! The pool area is beautiful, and every member of the staff was so friendly and welcoming. A special thank-you to Rosana at the Anani Restaurant and Jerison at the pool—both went out of their way to make our experience extra special. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, and all three on-site restaurants served delicious food. We also really enjoyed the cigar bar—it was a fun and relaxing spot to visit after dinner a couple of nights. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a super-cozy bed, plenty of bottled water refills, coffee in the room, and nice touches like the robe and slippers. The ocean view from our room was stunning. The only downside was that the ocean had a lot of seaweed during our visit, which we learned was due to a tropical storm that had just passed through. But that just gives us an excuse to come back again when the water is clear—we can’t wait to return!

I was very excited to spend my 53rd birthday at the Westin Punta Cana the 2nd week fo July. When I arrived with my daughters, we were amazed by the calm and relaxing vibe of the hotel, which we were seeking. The staffmember who first greeted us and got us all checked in was kind and enthusiastic. I do feel, though, that a resort of this caliber where families are bound to travel should have a "family room" that sleeps three without charging for breakfast and an additional guest fee. My daughter paid for breakfast daily, and was charged a sizeable amount per day as an "extra guest." This seemed a bit much to me. That being said, the service at breakfast and the breakfast selections were terrific. The biggest glitch in our visit, though, was when I put my earrings down on the dresser to change to go to the pool, and when I came back to the room to freshen up (approx two hours later, after the room had been serviced), they were gone. They were gold, yes, and I should have put them in the safe / remembered to put them back on my ears, but again, at a five-star resort, a guest should feel safely able to leave an item out without fearing it being stolen. I speak Spanish fluently (I am a Spanish teacher) and it pained me greatly to have to "snitch" on housekeeping, but I had to report it. The security folks were gracious and they did take my issue seriously, but as a Marriott resort, this sort of thing really should not happen. The Dominican people are wonderful and hospitable.
