Reviews for The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club

Another excellent trip!

We first came to this hotel over Christmas 2023. We liked it so much, we returned. We are seasoned travelers, and have visited the DR several times, including a stay at Casa de Campo. So we have some ability to compare. The property, surrounded by nature, is very lush. The decor is a soothing mix of natural and contemporary— including the large, renovated rooms. The pool is huge and the beach is simply gorgeous. But the warm staff is among the top reasons we returned. On arrival, we were greeted by Vincent, who actually remembered us and offered a warm, “Welcome back Family!” Miguel at the front desk was another welcome face. Jenda and other front desk staff were kind and helpful. Big shout out to the Room Service team. Emanuel, Gustavo, Yuly, Mike, Miguel, Daria Julia. So kind and eager to serve. We loved dining at The Grill. Kudos to Chef Jahvre! (Sp?) The whole grilled snapper, the flatbreads, the arancini, the fresh salads were all terrific, with a lovely ocean view. Thank you Felix, Gustavo and Emile for your warm service. While they work invisibly, the housekeeping staff kept our room impeccably clean! And lastly, we want to express our appreciation for Issa. Every day he worked HARD raking the beach of what weeds had washed ashore to keep it as pristine as you will ever see! Thank you Issa!! This place does feel like home away from home to us, which is high on our list of what makes a hotel feel special to us. We certainly hope to be back!

WARNING: THEFT @ WESTIN PUNTA CANA, DR

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

A lovely vacation spoilt by theft of some money from our backpack in our room. Further disappointment was the condescending attitude of one of the service agents there (Moya Martinez) when trying to get an update on the investigation. Beach was lovely, bar had good selection of liquor, food was reasonably good and majority of staff very attentive. However someone there is a THIEF.

Expensive for Average

Here is everything you need to know about the Westin Punta Cana Resort in a 20 second read. The good: Well maintained and clean property spacious rooms, great beach with drink service and access to amenities off property. The “know before you go”: Concerned about security? One has to pass a total of three security check points. One to get into the resort area of Punta Cana and another two to get into the Westin grounds. The downside of this is that if you want to take a cab anywhere, “they” control the transportation selection so you’re in for a $30-$40 cab ride to anywhere off property. There are some free shuttles that run at infrequent and odd times. The pool area is very basic and sterile looking; no real shade or trees. “El Presidente” beer will run you $8. Restaurants on property served high quality food but that said – dinner for two and a few drinks averaged over $230. On one occasion our party of 6 chalked up over $70, yes, not a typo, for water. Really?? We are Marriott Platinum status so we were offered points or free breakfast buffet. At ~$28 pp is was an obvious choice to forgo the points for the buffet. The front desk person removed the changes at check out from our bill only to have a subsequent charge placed on our credit card a day later that we now have to take the time and effort to dispute…..not good. All in given that it’s impractical to travel off property for meals, I’d select one of the many all inclusive resorts next time. One and done.

Never again

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I give this a 2 only because the beach is supreme. But they are trying to squeeze every extra dollar they can out of you. The food on the premises was way overpriced. Like offensively so. And while the tip is included in the bill the sever would verbally request we add more tip. We had a car and was able to go the grocery store to get a few things and try restaurants in the village. We did not have good experiences off premises either. While the prices were slightly less offensive, the bills were often incorrect. Wrong prices and added items. We never really relaxed knowing we were constantly being swindled. It's too bad, because it coastline was absolutely stunning. ALSO, there is no actual door to the bathroom. Just a swinging glass shower door so everyone in the room shares in your bathroom time. And the TP is the kind that keeps proctologists in business. It's a "never again" for us......

The Westin Punta Cana resort and Club is a GEM

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My husband and I recently spent 10 days at the Westin Punta Cana. This is our fourth visit to the Resort and we are never disappointed. Their level of service is top notch Their entire staff is amazing. The pool and beach staff were awesome and attentive. There were always plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas at the beach and the pool. The bars and restaurants are staffed by friendly caring associates. Yorkary from guest services is EXCEPTIONAL. We didn’t run into one employee that was not friendly and helpful. The Resort is clean and well cared for. This is a well-run resort!
