This place is heaven! Spotlessly clean. Great service from the absolute nicest staff that makes sure you get to your tee time and safely. Kudos to Dionicio(sp) and the bell captain Francis Mercedes. We had room service on 3 evenings simply because we loved the view from our patio. Food was good, but not great. Some reviews complain about lack of umbrellas, but folks the umbrella only went up 2 days during our trip because it was so WINDY anyway. The pool was ice cold and the hot tub tepid, but the beach was clean and the seaweed was not a problem for swimming. I give this place a 5 for the service, cleanliness and location. The beds were very comfortable!

I have traveled extensively and been to many resorts around the world. This was my first time at the Westin Punta Cana Resort. I have been a SPG member for over 20 years. It is supposed to be something special and it is at most SPG properties. This was not the case at this property. It seemed like you were just another number. Here are the pros: The property is beautiful and well maintained. It is easy to walk around the immediate area and the beach is a few minutes away. We had a premium ocean view room and it was very nice. The balcony overlooked the pool and a nice view of the ocean. Some of the staff were very fluent in English. If you are a golfer the golf courses look amazing. It cost $295.00 to play 18 holes. I am not a golfer but I walked along the course and it was simply beautiful. The ecological park is an excellent adventure. We walked thru the park, kind of jungle like with some really natural pools and wildlife. Cons – The Westin workout fitness studio is a joke, an afterthought. Clearly they did not invest any money in this. You will notice no pictures of the fitness studio on their website, so I am posting one. The fitness studio is 10 footsteps wide and 25 footsteps long, I took the steps. There were 8 people in the fitness studio when I got there and it was so cramped it was hard to work out. I had to wait to get on the machines. The Six Senses Spa has a sauna and steam room. The steam room was not working for the entire 9 days I was at the property. The daily excuse was “It will be fixed soon”. This is pathetic. If you enjoy working out this property gets 1 star. The ocean and beach are beautiful however you really can’t swim in the ocean because the current is too turbulent. I am a very good swimmer and I tried swimming, the waves were very strong. Most of the time nobody was in the ocean because of the turbulent water. If you want to go anywhere you are at the mercy of the shuttle. The property is very spread out so you can’t walk away from the hotel property, you have to catch the shuttle. Overall the food is ok, nothing really special. I wish there were some local restaurants we could have gone to. The shuttle went to the property village which had some other restaurants, they were ok, except the Mexican restaurant which was terrible, don’t go there. Bottom line, there are so many good resorts which are much better, I will not go back.

Been here multiple times, love the location, the views, all of the food options. The only two places I’ll stay are here and Casa de Campo. I can’t say enough good things about this place even without the all inclusive option. The food is reasonably priced and you can add breakfast to your package. Now for THE ISSUE: Please stop letting people put towels down and leave for the entire day. This resort isn’t huge and people think it’s Disney World or The Masters. Implement a policy like the SLS or Fontainbleau where if you’re gone for an hour, you lose your seat. More than half the chairs are empty for an hour plus with no people in them. Employees are standing around while the people actually at the pool have nowhere to sit. It’s a simple fix and needs to be done. Other than that, it’s paradise.

It was my first time visiting Punta Cana so I did not fully grasp that Punta Cana was basically created as a tourist destination so everything is well manicured and catered to make you, the tourist, completely comfortable. Knowing that, Punta Cana is nice if you don’t want to interact with local culture. There are many hotels in PC but since I was SPG Platinum 100, it was obvious that I’d patronize a SPG property before others. So when we checked in, I inquired whether my room was upgraded and I was told no but that I’d love the view. The property itself is amazing. Every room in the hotel has a view of the pool and ocean. We were given a standard room where the beds were facing away from the water/pool so if you wanted a view, you’d have to go out on the balcony. Still, the room was lovely with the heavenly beds and a modern decor. We were surprised by the level of noise you could hear from neighbors above you since the floors are tile. We heard furniture being moved for awhile as well as people talking. This is not a big deal as how much time do you want to spend in the room? I was surprised when entering the room to see that there was no welcome letter, no greeting, no nothing. Now, this may sound unimportant to those who have no history with SPG, but for those who have been platinum for years, you expect for a hotel to give a nod towards your loyalty. After all, I can stay anywhere but I prefer SPG and honestly, I have never checked into a hotel and not received even a simple letter. If you opt for the breakfast buffet as a platinum, you are entitled to the complimentary breakfast which consists of the cold food. On a couple of occasions, we tried the hot platters, which cost extra and were disappointed. The eggs were cold and runny and made my friend sick. I went to the front desk to request an upgrade and after much time, we were upgraded to a standard suite. Now, the original receptionist should have said that though there were no upgrades available at the time, they would check since we were staying for 4 nights. I should not have had to return to request an upgrade and quite frankly, i didn’t care about a suite but simply an upgraded room. Case in point, we met a lady who was staying there for a few days who wasn’t even a member of SPG and was upgraded to a corner junior suite in the front of the hotel. The suite is lovely though sterile. THe best part of it was the soaker tub. I do recommend taking time to soak in the tub while looking out at the water and palm trees. We ate on the property a couple of nights and ventured out to PUnta Cana village a couple of nights. If you are looking to get to a local restaurant, it’s not possible unless you rent a car or pay $70 for a taxi. Punta Cana village is still part of the hotel resort property so the money stays with the resort. If you stay at the property during the weekend, you have to get up early to get a beach chair with umbrella. There should be more umbrellas as the afternoon sun is quite harsh. There are plenty of chairs but not so many umbrellas and we saw some umbrellas where people had left their belongings and not returned in hours. I do thin the hotel should do a better job to ensure that the chairs with umbrellas are being actively used or to remove the belongings so others can sit there. My friend had a painful sunburn which resulted from trying to shade herself under a towel since there were no umbrellas. I’d also recommend that there be a family jacuzzi and an adults only jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was already crowded and full of children swimming in it. Lastly, i found it odd that on our last night, the hotel delivered a welcome letter to me thanking me for my loyalty with a plate that contained one apple, one piece of chocolate, and some dried fruit. It was obviously put together in haste. Perhaps this hotel does not leave welcome letters for guests. It will be the first time that I’ve experienced that and I’ve been platinum for years. Again, a little would have gone a long way just to acknowledge a guest’s loyalty and to do your best to accommodate their stay.

Our family of four had a wonderful vacation at the Westin resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping ladies are tremendous but the concierge, Francesca, deserves a special shout out. Her smile lights up the lobby and she always stops what she’s doing to give our daughter hugs and ask her about her day. The ladies at the Kids club are also lovely. It’s great to have the option of leaving your little one with them and have some adult time. The pool is not heated and it can get pretty cold which is why our kids spent most of their time in the heated whirlpool. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast had an assortment of cheeses, pastries, veggies, fruit, cold cuts, cereal, smoked salmon, milk, yogurt, juices and that was good enough for us. The beach is beautiful and clean and it wasn’t too crowded during our visit. However, I am not sure if there would be enough chairs and umbrellas for the guests if the hotel was at it’s full capacity.
