My husband and I just returned from a five day vacation at the St Regis Punta Mita. We wanted to share the positive and some negatives about the resort. The hotel is spread out and spacious. Even when the hotel is full, you don’t feel that there are a lot of guests there. We had an ocean view room that was large and spacious with both an outdoor and indoor shower with a nice patio. The bed was very cozy and there are terrific bath products. One night we did not get turn down service and did not have the list of activities for the following day. Also, we had a little Salamander visit our bathroom which was yucky but my husband dealt with quickly. Another thing was that our room key didn’t work for the first few days. We were locked out two times. Each time we texted our butler and he brought us a new set of keys. The second time we texted him when we were on our way to the fitness center and he brought the new keys to us there. The butler service was wonderful and a nice touch. We had two terrific attentive butlers -Guillermo and Julio). A simple text to our butler and complimentary morning coffee was brought to our room within a few minutes. The butler also assisted with restaurant recommendations and handled issues that we had questions about. There are three main pools and one is a family pool. We used the hotel bikes one morning and enjoyed the six mile round trip bike trail to the main gate and back. The trail is shaded and also great for joggers. There are several restaurants to choose from for dinner. They all required reservations (except for one Altamira) so one has to plan ahead and the butler makes the reservation. We stayed away from the fancy restaurant (Caroline’s). We went to a super casual (flip flops and bathing suits) restaurant on the beach called Mita Mary. Great service and delicious Mexican cuisine. We also enjoyed Sea Breeze-Humberto was our waiter and he was terrific! Sashimi was wonderful. The second night we returned, (we had a different waiter) I was served a Mahi taco instead of a tofu taco. They fixed the order quickly. Note that all of the restaurants have a vegan menu. The spa was wonderful. We enjoyed a couples massage and then a pedicure. The massage was certainly one of the best I have ever had. The mani pedis were set in the middle of the trees with water surrounding us. A small walkway took us to our pedicure chairs. The fitness center was good. Had the equipment that we needed for a good morning workout while it was raining. The tv didn’t work on both of our machines. We were surprised how limited the fitness schedule was. Before our stay I had called the hotel for the fitness schedule and both times they did not email it to me after telling me they would. The beach was lovely. Attentive service and always refilling our buckets with fresh cold water bottles. The beach chairs were comfortable, gorgeous views, and very spread out so there was a lot of privacy. The kids tended to be close to the kids pool so it was very quiet. We went to the pool one afternoon and was offered good pool service. It isn’t like Four seasons where there are snacks or ice pops offered hourly. One time we were offered a ice pop. I was surprised to see that there were areas around the pool with chipped tiles and openings where ones foot could have easily slipped in. It looked like the tiles were covering the drain area but it was not what one would expect to see at a St Regis. All in all, we had a very nice stay. Great getaway. We will definitely stay here over the FourSeasons when we return.

Our family just returned from this resort. We occupied three separate rooms.Staying at this resort was such a memorable experience. Everything is 5 star. The staff is incredible-it is very evident that they are proud and happy to work here. They make you feel so welcome and they are always smiling. The grounds of the resort are amazing--acres and acres of lush grass, beautiful flowers and gorgeous trees. There are paths that wind through the resort which are beautifully lit at night. Just magical! The food is outstanding. We had breakfast each morning and enjoyed food brought to us at the pool. We had a private butler who attended to our every need. The rooms are big, clean and extremely comfortable. There are several fabulous swimming pools and a wonderful beach. They have many special activities that we took advantage of--just an amazing family vacation, We can't wait to return.

It was difficult to decide between the Four Season and St. Regis for a long weekend, but after choosing the St. Regis and spending three days at the glorious property, I am convinced I made the right choice (they were priced the same, so price was not a factor). I already want to return for another long-weekend! Like many readers on this site, we have been fortunate to experience top hotels around the world, and yet, the St. Regis Punta Mita now tops the list. The grounds are gorgeous. The design of the property fantastic (bungalow/villa style, providing a unique sense of privacy). The service is A+++. The desire and ability to accommodate guests' needs without 'hovering' sets a new standard for high-end hospitality. Hands down, this was the best resort experience my wife and I have ever had. It is not inexpensive (we also booked last minute which didn't help), but you get incredible intangibles from the highly-trained staff combined with a magnificent property adorned with gorgeous landscaping. On top of every other positive, the resort was allegedly 100% occupied our first night/day, and yet, because of the brilliant design, the report did not feel crowded, there was no need to 'claim' a lounge chair early in the morning, and service levels remained top notch. I would love to meet the person responsible for staff training at this property (and hire them!).

I’ve never been more depressed leaving a vacation. We loved every minute of our stay!! The great: - the rooms!! The view!! We were in 6204 and had the best view from our balcony. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. Loved the outdoor shower!! - the staff: victor was our daytime butler and Luis our nighttime butler but we loved everyone that we encountered. Everyone seems to be loving their job! I also personally loved the text service - so useful! - the prices of food: I’ve stayed at a handful of nice resorts (including St Regis Bahía in PR) and the pricing here was the most affordable of a resort I’ve seen. Sure, you could get food for cheaper in PV but this is the only price I’ll splurge for room service at. Speaking of, order breakfast in the room versus going to Sea Breeze buffet- much more affordable. - happy hour: 5-6 PM 2 for 1 beer margaritas and champagne. The only time I can afford veuve ever. - the bikes: beautiful bike rides on property - it was definitely a workout! Helmets needed! - daily coffee: have them bring a carafe to your room with sweet treats! Such a nice way to wake up. - mixology class: we loved the sweet man who made drinks for us and walked away with a free full drink - oyster bar: spicy tuna allll the way!!! the tuna melts in your mouth and you can have it while sitting on the beach staring at the ocean. Ceviche was delicious too. Too skimpy on salmon portion but also not native to the area so I get it! - sunsets: the most beautiful I’ve seen The meh: - tequila tasting (12/11/17): we took this and it ended up being more of a tequila class than a tasting. We tasted .25 oz of one tequila, thought we would have had more, but did learn a lot about tequila (go añejo or go home) and ended up getting tequila at dinner that night. - that you have to pay additional $ for SUP and kayaks - come on now! Even the guy that I talked to for the SUP “clinic” said that the clinic was for beginners and we wouldn’t be going out far so essentially no free water sports. St Regis Bahía includes this in the resort Fee, so maybe I’m tainted. For next time (or tips for you stranger who is reading this): - rent a car! Not sure who wrote in here earlier that the drive was perilous but it was absolutely not. Could save the $100USD airport transfer fee for sure. - stop at a liquor store! We brought beers and champagne and no one said boo to us when we brought the beer to the beach. Any red wine drinkers? I’d highly recommend grabbing a bottle as prices are fairly steep on site. - if you are still adverse to pricing despite my comment above, grab some fruit and granola bars for breakfast too (they have pears and apples and plums that they put in our room) - figure out how to stay for more than 2 days. Make friends with someone with lots of SPG points and tell boss I’m not feeling well 😜 We will, no doubt, be back. ¡Hasta luego Punta de Mita!

This has everything you could ever want for a Mexico getaway. The rooms are spacious, complete w/ your own butler, amazing smelling sheets and an outdoor shower! The spa service is impeccable. But the best part is the restaurant on the beach! Amazing grilled lobster tacos, with sand at your toes, and a beautiful beach as your backdrop. Go in the water, as it is one of the few places you can in Punta Mita. Better yet, host a wedding here - it was amazing! The backdrop is the sunset over the ocean, warm night, and a truly spectacular experience, which will exceed your expectations
