We came to Hotel Punta Islita for our wedding week and it was the best week of our lives. This was our second time here and we wanted to bring as many people as possible to experience the “world’s best views” (in our opinion). We have traveled all around Costa Rica but nothing beats the experience that Hotel Punta Islita offers. We spent most of our time at the infinity swim up pool bar with bartender, Briner, who was amazing. The entire staff was so welcoming and amazing. They helped plan activities like horseback riding and zip lining for all our wedding guests. We had our wedding on Saturday and it was absolutely perfect. Everyone who traveled from long distances had a great stay and some have already made plans to return to Hotel Punta Islita. We will definitely be returning to this hidden paradise.

We spent a week at this Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel. It is small, intimate with a very friendly staff. The hotel is built into the hillside with individual casitas(some with lunge pools) and secluded rooms. Everything slopes down to the cove containing the beach which is black sand and not especially pretty. There are much prettier beaches outside the grounds. There are two pools: one by the beach which was not clean nor filtered well and the other adjacent to the main patio dining area. The latter pool does not have sufficient lounges - 8 or 10 with umbrella shelter from the sun and an addition small number in full sun. The food - while the prices are cosmopolitan - the food menu is not. It was the single most disappointing part of our stay. They need to up their game. Service and staff ere fine. The included horseback riding and zip lining were fun but only to do once. These two are limited. Spa services were excellent The road from Liberia airport has been repaved and is fine - only last few miles on the approach to Punta Islita are in poor shape and "rugged" If you just want a place to unwind - Punta Islita is fine - if you are seeking more - look further

We just got married at Punta Islita and can not be happier they way everything turned out. We had just shy of 100 people for a three day event and many stayed longer to enjoy the resort and activities. First of all, Marriott’s wedding co-cordinator Paola that I have been dealing with over the past year, have been nothing but super professional, very responsive and service minded (even when she had a baby in the mist of it). Each of the services that Paola helped organise turned out perfectly. The lady who did the hair, the guitarr player, the flower arrangements and the dj. A special mention of the photographer, Juan Carlos who showed up despite a stomach bug was nothing short of phenomenal and so very experienced. Finally the team at Punta Islita that made it all happen... the service at this place is great and it comes down to the people. All from Alonso and Marvin at the top who really took the time to understand our every wish and request, to Louis in reception, Antonio in serving staff... and all others not mentioned here. Its not easy to decide to do a wedding far away. Its a bit of a gamble and you have to trust the people you deal with. Paola and Punta Islita were amazing and we can recommend it whole heartedly. Our guests kept on saying it was like a dream wedding. A big thank you and we look forward to coming back to visit. Pura Vida!

Both this hotel and the individuals it employs are nothing short of spectacular. From the arrival to departure, our visit was amazing. The includes activities were great, but we highly recommend doing the sunset vistas excursion, it is stunning.

Just left Punta Islita ... this is a fabulous resort. Had a beautiful private villa for the 4 of us, with our own golf cart to get to main pool (2 minutes away) and around. We did most of free activities, such as zip lining, horseback riding, monkey walk, mixology class, as well as few extras, kayaking and boat ride. The resort is very private, clean, and the service/staff is always friendly and there to help (including going to the next town to get a cream that my daughter needed from a pharmacy). The food at the restaurants was good, including the pool bar, which has great drinks! We did eat one dinner at one of the restaurants in the small town nearby (the other restaurant was closed the week we stayed) but truly we preferred the restaurants at the resort. I had read other reviews about the food, and had been concerned about it, but we really enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at Pacifico and Cocos. The infinity pool was gorgeous, and we got lounge chairs by the pool every day we were there. We did go to the beach for surfing lessons, but we enjoyed the pool (and swim up bar) the most. I just can’t say enough good things about the resort, and the super friendly staff, and we will definitely go back. It is 2-3 hours away from the airport, but we had arrangements made both ways and we did not have any issues with that.
