Only got the hotel because its RIGHT on the beach. The local surf breaks weren't in season for good surf, but still had a good time. Being Mexico, the locals with charge you every little bit for every little thing but the board rental with the boat ride down the beach to a better surf break was well worth the time and money... the guy just hung out in the boat while my gf and I did our thing until we were ready to go back to the hotel. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept, and our room was amazing (3 br, top floor with long balcony and wide common area). Only got the room to be close to the beach and the "presidential suite", as I call it, was like $500/night but only room left... definitely could have saved some dineros by doing more research but it was a 2 second decision, havnt looked back. The staff are hit and miss. As long as I spoke with the main guy that was at the desk (also my point of contact in email), I was taken care of. The area is safe, and the front desk can help you book tours (like ziplining or horseback riding) and they'll pick up directly from the front of the hotel via a van. I also had the hotel arrange airport pickup and dropoff... a lot more pricey than expected, like $250 roundtrip, but was paying for peace of mind. However, they DID pass out free beers during the SUV ride : ) All in all, for a weekend getaway with a new girlfriend and some money to burn,

My son and I went surfing to Punta Mita June 10, 2017 Did research and stayed at Hotel Cinco which is a condo hotel directly on the beach in the town of Punta Mita. Vallarta is 30 miles South, Four Seasons and St Regis are on the point next to town. Hotel caters to surfers. There are at least 10 breaks within a 10 minute drive of the hotel, and if the surf is up there are 5 within walking/paddling distance including ElAncote directly out front. The main resort part of town is right along the beach for several blocks with Cinco right in the middle. Lots of bars, grills, hotels, gringos, euros, etc. I did not take my laptop but my son said the web was slow. Otherwise a great place if you surf. I noticed a number of people in the water who were staying in Sayulita but driving 40 minutes South to surf Mita--more spots so less crowded. By the way the condo itself was extremely nice--new, modern, full kitchen, 2 bed, 2 bath, 2 TV's, deck right on ocean. Good place

Based on the review below from Joshy1979... we got concerned with our reservation. We are supposed to arrive tomorrow and have been super excited since we booked months ago with booking.com. We have tried to call the hotel multiple times, and email. The only response we have received via email is that the lobby is under construction and they are unable to answer any calls, but they gave us some mobile number, which was fake and didn't work. We have reached out to booking.com multiple times in the past few days and they are unable to reach Hotel Cinco as well. We also just recently learned that the pool, the restaurant AND the lobby are all closed, which has not been disclosed to us once since booking. Booking.com was finally able to cancel our reservation for this hotel today. BEWARE of this hotel!!

We had looked forward to our stay at Cinco for months. When we arrived in Punta de Mita we were taken to an apartment complex across the street and met by the very nice manager Horacio, who informed us that as a result of an ownership dispute, the hotel suites would not be available. Instead, we were taken to an apartment which we were told was owned by one of the 2 disputing owners. This was very scary to us and we decided we weren't going to take the risk of staying somewhere off site in the middle of a management dispute. Where it really broke down is when we found out that Cinco wouldn't be able to help us because we booked through Expedia, who still had the money from the reservation. And of course Expedia or any other competing site doesn't offer refunds for any reason, so we were re-booked by Expedia at a downgraded hotel with no compensation from anyone. In the end though it was Cinco's fault that this happened and that they neglected to inform us of this at all before our arrival at the apartment complex. You need to now that you're taking a huge risk booking with Cinco and you need to know that you can't reasonably expect your booking to be honored by them. This hugely altered our long-awaited vacation plans and we won't soon forget this.

Our family of 4 traveled with 2 other families; each of us had our own suite. We couldn't have been happier. A beautiful boutique hotel that was just casual enough for our crew. Horacio and Claudia at front desk were extremely helpful (and tolerant of our changing whims) and arranged for us paddleboarding, boat trips, restaurant reservations, and taxis to Sayulita. We could walk to a huge variety of restaurants where we sipped margaritas and ate fresh fish with our toes in the sand. We will definitely be back.
