About the Hotel
Occupying a serene spot on America's only tropical fiord along the Golfo Dulce, the boutique hotel of Playa Cativo is enveloped in the snug embrace of the Piedras Blancas National Park and set on 1000 acres of lush private rainforest. A tranquil beach overlooks the crystalline waters off the Southern Costa Rican coast and guests set up lounge chairs on the meticulously groomed lawn to gaze across the expanse. All quarters, designed in contemporary eco-luxe style, are kitted out with polished reclaimed hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings, and large picture windows for stellar ocean views. Accommodations are within steps of the sand and offer all modern comforts such as wireless Internet access, ceiling fans, in-room safes and coffee makers. Bathrooms provide soothing rainfall showers, biodegradable toiletries and plush cotton robes.

Amazing experience
We had a really wonderful time at this resort! We stayed three nights but could’ve stayed longer. Our experience with the hotel itself was lovely, it’s beautiful and clean. The spa is very peaceful. The staff were so accommodating and kind, Alfonso took care of us at each meal and remembered our preferences and names. The concierge staff was very responsive and checked in regularly about how our day went. The food was very fresh and good, they had vegetarian accommodations for us. Bird watching here is unreal and we did two excursions, both with Cindy as our guide, and had a fantastic time. We did the mangrove kayak and the night walk, Cindy knew so much about the insects, birds, history of the land, and the conservation efforts. We loved this hotel and this trip and hope to come back!

Unforgettable
This was the most amazing experience with the family. In the middle of the Costa Rican tropical jungle, as if on a secluded island only surrounded by nature and the sounds of wildlife. The Rooms are decorated beautifully and kept so tidy and clean. The service of the entire team is exceptional and they are extremely passionate our hosts Mark, Alessandro and Alonso made our stay extra special. The cuisine is extraordinary and we even had the opportunity to do a cooking class with Pablo which was unforgettable. Thank you to all of the Playa Cativo Lodge team, we will be back for sure! Playa Cativo lodge, the absolute top on all levels!
It does not get any better than this. The location is stunning, surrounded by nature. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable about the nature that surrounded us. Unbelievable also to get food of this quality in such a remote place. All home grown, caught and made.

Had the time of my life
The location was amazing and we were completely surrounded by nature. The atmosphere was amazing and all in the theme of the jungle. The rooms were great and an amazing view at the sea and every night we saw the beautiful sunset.
