Villa Caletas is a beautiful hotel with a lot to offer. Stop for a sunset dinner (amazing) at a minimum. But we stayed here for several nights 4 months ago and are still talking about it. Breakfast with Norman was great. We had the beach almost to ourselves. The massage at the spa was among the best we've ever had. And drinks by the infinity pool are always good. If you are a normal person (not uber rich), this is an amazing place to spend a few days.

You would never know this amazingly suave villa has been around for 25 years! Okay, maybe the incredibly attentive staff and smooth operations may give it away, but otherwise, every detail, the upkeep, the property, the rooms, the restaurant look brand new. Not only are you in the best of best locations, right outside of Jacó (1.5 hours from SJO), but you are also in the hands of the best of the best. You can spend a week here, alone, easily - from spa services; to adventure offerings, like hiking (they have their own path down to their private beach!); to poolside lounging; to devouring the hefty menu (fresh fish, local herbs and greens); to yoga practices, concerts and even taking a day - or days - to just enjoying the tranquility of your room. I'd go out of my way to return soon on any Central American trip, so it's simply a MUST for any Costa Rica trip!!!

I went here on the second week of my honeymoon. Right away we were greeted with a cold, scented towelette and ice teas. The staff was very friendly and helpful and most spoke English. The private beach was great with lots of wildlife to observe on the shuttle ride there. The shuttle drivers would always stop and point out the monkeys (which are difficult to spot) to the passengers. The beach was rocky more than sandy, so be sure to wear swim shoes to protect your feet. We went in the off-season and had lots of privacy with great views to enjoy the weather and colorful indigenous animals with delicious cocktails. Such a beautiful view of the ocean from the pool and amphitheater, too. We stayed in a Junior Suite overlooking the peninsula. The room was very spacious and clean. It was stunning. We had a jacuzzi on the deck that fit two people comfortably. The bathroom was stocked with lemon grass scented shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion specially made for Villa Caletas. I hope to someday go back and try out the food from their restaurant and room service. It was just an amazing experience with the gorgeous Hellenistic and Victorian architecture and artwork. I highly recommend exploring the grounds.

This was an amazing weekend with one of my best friends! Truly relaxing, service amazing, views breathtaking and food outrageous! I am concerned about the maintenance and upkeep though. There is a lot of work in the gardens and property being overlooked that over time will lead a beautiful property to a run down property. I still would return to this location over and over again though. AND THE SPA is off the hook! Super cool and different and totally relaxing!

We had two rooms in the main building. Specious rooms with very good beds. A selection of pillows is available. The shower has sufficient water and the AC is working properly. Going to Jacco is not far. Provided you have a car.
