The good: the location is amazing, you are set up in a mountain and I do mean up in a mountain. You are basically staying in a jungle, but in luxury. We upgraded to a suite so we could have a balcony with a Jacuzzi and it was worth it. The service is also impeccable. The staff goes above and beyond in treating their guests with the upmost respect. The food on property is pretty limited, but what they do have is exceptional. The bad: without our knowledge when we booked, there was a group at the hotel having a wedding. These people were rude, obnoxious, loud as hell, acted like they owed the place bringing loud speakers down to the public pool area, smoking in non smoking areas, bringing entire bottles of Fireball down to the pool to drink, one of the older men approached us and started making comments about our bathing suits, completely out of line. The group was above our suite and every single night they made noise until 3-4 AM, sounded like they were moving furniture. I understand it's vacation/wedding and everyone wants to have fun, but this group of people were way over the top. We upgraded to have privacy, there is a private pool for the suites, but every single day the wedding party would bring all of their friends over to the private pool and take that over too. So not only did they take over the public pool but also the private pool. Overall: If you can confirm this hotel isn't having an event the time of your trip, i would recommend it. Otherwise, I would look for other options as 52 rooms isn't big enough to allow you to avoid rude guests. Misc: Light in bathroom didn't work, called down and was told a new one would be sent in 30 mins, never came. Called for an iron to press clothes, was told the other guests were using it and it would be sent, never came. Fridge didn't work in room so we had to call for ice every few hours to keep drinks cold. Water in bathroom is warm, not hot. The rooms are very dark, not many lights. The rooms need some updating in a bad way. If I had the chance to do this all over again, with the same experience and the same people there, i would go somewhere else.

From the moment we got on the transport that took us from the airport to the Hotel, the driver already made us feel special and welcome. All the staff was always very cordial and friendly, with a fabulous attention and willingness to satisfy any need we had. The dependencies are wonderful, with fabulous natural surroundings. We were able to see many species of animals and birds free in their environment, thunderstorms from the comfort of our room and the view is simply spectacular. The restaurant "Anfiteatro" has a delicious menu and fantastic service, not to mention the wonderful atmosphere and view it enjoys. The goal of resting on this trip, was fully satisfied. Choosing Villa Caletas as a destination was one of the best decisions we made on our wonderful honeymoon. We would go back without hesitation.

As you start to drive up to the main entrance you already know you are in for a treat. There are so many different lookouts, pools and restaurants in this hotel it almost feels like a private mini village. I attended a wedding here and it was absolutely beautiful and the staff was wonderful. It's about 1.5hrs from the airport so make sure you keep in mind transportation! Uber does work believe it or not and it's about a $65 ride. Once you are here thought you won't feel the need to go anywhere else!

we first stayed here over twenty years ago when the hotel was new. The landscaping has grown up to maturity and the views peering through the trees on private pool patios are excellent. The public views around the bar and restaurant are spectacular. great sunsets and excellent ceviche. good service and above average food. We booked the king suite with private patio and pool - very nice. Saw toucans, tourquise browed mot mot, brown jays, red legged blue honeycreeper, green honeycreeper, scarlet macaws, and the great crested guan from the restauraunt and sunset decks. at 1000 foot elevation, the property is cooled by pacific breezes. This would be a great honeymoon spot!
