We did a 4 night stay via a Groupon we bought. Everything went smoothly and well worth the money! We stayed in a suite with a private infinity pool with a partial ocean view. The room and pool/patio area were amazing and so was the view. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The concierge was helpful for setting up tours and activities through local businesses. I would definitely revisit this place again and have recommended it to several friends. A couple of things caught us off-guard that I want to mention, but this is in absolute no-way a criticism of the hotel. The hotel and staff were absolutely amazing. These are just tips that others may find helpful in their trip. First, we went in June, which is the rainy season and the pools were pretty chilly and I had a difficult time acclimating to them. I didn't expect that so just be aware depending on the time of year you go. Also the hotel is wonderfully secluded up a mountain surrounded by rain forest. Unless you have a car or procure transportation, you will have to eat at the restaurant there in the hotel (There are two but only one was open). The food, while absolutely delicious, is a bit pricey at the restaurant, so just be prepared. The private beach is beautiful, but it is more of a rocky beach. Again these are not criticisms, but rather some helpful hint for those lucky enough to find themselves staying at this wonderful place!

Traveled to Costa Rica (Jaco) for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was recommended that we have dinner at Villa Caletas for our special day. We decided to make a day of it and had a variety of spa treatments, lunch and a private terrace dinner. To say this will be a day we will never forget would be an understatement. The spa treatments were fantastic, thanks to Tatiana and Alexandria. The massage was tremendous, facial fantastic, and mani/pedi wonderful. Fish tacos for lunch were great and some spectacular views from the pool area topped the afternoon. The day ended perfectly with a private dinner and a view without description. The food was amazing and the service was over the top. Thank you Jackson and Christopher for making our anniversary dinner so memorable.

The pictures don't do it justice! The scenery and views are beautiful!!! This is a very peaceful and serene place. I stayed here for a week with my wife. It is pretty isolated though so I would recommend if you stay here to have a rental car. We did not have a rental car so a lot of times we felt like we were stuck here because it was about $25 each way to get to Jaco. Since we were stuck on the resort most of the time we ate the majority of our meals here. The food was great but the one suggestion I have is that they could expand the menu a bit. If you eat every meal there for a week you end up eating the same things often. The Caletas Breakfast is delicious though! I ate that almost every morning and did not tire of it. One other suggestion was that maybe sometimes they could pump up the energy or music a little bit. This place is perfect if you are looking for a very peaceful and serene retreat. That is fine for a couple of days but it is so quiet there that after a while we were hoping for some more action. After about 9 PM the whole place shuts down and there is nothing to do. Overall this place is amazing though and I would recommend it for the scenery alone.

I was so in love with this place! I planned this trip at the last minute and found this amazing deal for the hotel on Groupon. I did my research and thought it looked fairly nice online. Little did I know it would blow my expectations. It is simply beautiful. When you drive in, you enter a long driveway that takes you to your retreat in the hills. The service and general appearance of the grounds were superb. Everyone was super nice and I fell in LOVE with the scenery. It was extremely quiet too. Just the way a retreat in the mountains should be! The infinity pool and the view of the ocean from it is simply breathtaking. I couldn't believe it was real. The food and service at the restaurants were really good. I don't have really anything bad to say about this place. Costa Rica in general is pricey when you compare it to other central America countries so this place was right in line with local prices. Our room was a junior suite with an ocean view. It was clean, updated and came with an oversized balcony and jacuzzi. The flies/insects are apart of Costa Rica but it wasn't too bad in our room. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing retreat. I did the half day spa on one of the days that was beyond relaxing. Overall I was extremely pleased!!

We stayed at this beautiful hideaway for 4days in late May and the views are just amazing. The sunsets from the infinity pool are wonderful, or you can have dinner at the mountain's edge Restaurant to also enjoy the view that way. Pros: Amazing view, secluded location, friendly and helpful staff, good food, close to Jaco(15 min) without being right in town, suite comes with private infinity pool, wonderful accommodations, and my wife really loved the daily towel-art left on the bed. Includes a decent mini-bar, and not too far from the SJO airport.(1.5 hrs) Cons: Nice to have a gym but limited and outdated equipment, water pressure was low, hot water was nonexistent, pool is not heated, and if you have a fear of heights the drive up the mountain can be daunting. Our stay at Hotel Villa Caletas was fantastic. The drive up the mountain for me was amazing, with outstanding views, and the entire grounds were beautiful. We did not use the on-site pool since our Suite came with its own. We expected a small plunge pool but we were greeted with a nice sized infinity pool that helped cool us off after long days of activities. The bed was a little firm for my wife's liking, but suited me just fine. This property also has its own beach (Playa Caletas), if you dont have a 4x4, then take the shuttle down, the drive to the beach can be a little challenging. It was private, you can order food and drinks there, and includes towels, chairs, and cabanas. Visiting during the off season will offer lower prices, we used a Groupon, but we did face daily showers, and some places were closed. The hotel did not appear to be full during our stay so it offered some welcomed privacy, and the private Suites are definitely the way to go, you can have as much or as little interaction with the staff as you like. We didn't have any surprise charges, and the room service was delivered in the 20-minutes promised consistently even during the Costa Rica downpours. We enjoyed our stay and would encourage anyone looking for a retreat in the hills, near a great town (Jaco), and a relaxing getaway to consider this property for their vacation choice.
