We had a great experience at The Darling Hotel. It is a top-notch hotel! The rooms are very nice but a bit strange in the layout. The bed area is lovely! There is no privacy from the bed area to the bathroom area. The shower is only accessible from the open sink area. In other words, you have no privacy at all. The toilet does have it’s own little room. So, if one person is asleep, you have no choice but to turn the lights on in order to use the sink area or shower stall. Everyone at the hotel was very nice - the concierge helped us a lot. Personally, I would have preferred to be in a location closer to the Opera House, but we were able to take a ferry to the area very easily. Our expensive room rate did not include the breakfast buffet and when I investigated, it was around $35 per person! That’s too expensive, in my opinion! There is a food court right outside of the hotel so we were able to grab coffee and a croissant before we headed out for our day. The bellmen and concierge were amazingly helpful and friendly!

I’ve loved The Darling previously but was so disappointed this trip, the standards seem to be dropping. The shower was full of mould and the bench in the bathroom was stained and tired. Even the hooks were in disarray.Refused to upgrade despite other rooms being available. Was moved to another room on the same floor that was marginally better, bathroom was still tired and worn. Lifts were playing up. Had multiple issues with room keys not working. No morning paper. On the plus side, housekeeping and concierge staff were still great and friendly, and the second reception person I dealt with was fabulous and efficient. Being Sydney’s first Forbes rated 5 Star Hotel, I really expected better than dirty tired rooms.

Straight from purchasing the spa date package, 'just the two of us', to entering The Darling you are treated like royalty, the staff are so helpful, and the grounds are tranquil and elegant. No words can describe how beautiful this spa is – there is an abundance of candles, flowers, marble. (LUXE) You are given access to amenities before or after treatments, so we went to the moroccan hamman room and the jacuzzi spa. The bathrooms are amazing, more marble, gold details, la prairie products. There is a tea room and lounge area where you are asked to fill a consultation page. I thought it was a great idea, they ask how you would like your massage (soft, hard), the level of communication, any concern areas etc. With our package, we were sent to a secret “couples” room, this room was breathtaking. We had a 30-minute private bath, they had put bubbles and rose petals in the bath and provided glasses of champagne. We then had a 60-minute full body massage and facial side by side. The products they used were very luxurious. After our treatment, we were allowed back to the tea room and lounge, and were given more champagne and little cakes, strawberries dipped in chocolate. Although quite pricey, the experience of being there is wonderful. Every detail, they have covered.

Love this hotel. Staff super helpful and friendly. Great entry level room this time. Love the mauve coloured sheets and having 4 towels in the bathroom. Great location. 5 mins walk to Darling Harbour and fun pubs in Pyrmont. Plenty of great cafes close for breakfast and good coffee. Great valet parking where you can get your car out whenever at no extra charge. I'll be back soon.

Absolutely amazing hotel and service. We were celebrating our anniversary and received an upgrade to a suite. Definitely one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in. Staff were great especially Daisee at reception who organised our upgrade after hearing it was our anniversary. Value for money and will definitely be coming back!
