Reviews for Matakauri Lodge
Our stay at Matakauri Lodge was the highlight of our trip. We appreciated the attention to detail, warm welcome and commitment to customer service. The Lodge, coupled with its setting and the surrounding area, made our stay one that we will remember for many years.
Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Food exceptional. Views of surrounding mountains and overlooking the lake are unbeatable. Service is excellent. Good selection of local wines and menu will fit anyone's desires...seafood, lamb, vegetarian or I was told, anything on request. Would go again if it wasn't so far.

We stayed here for three nights and it was heavenly. We had a superior suite, with breath taking views, which comprised of a large well furnished sitting area, fantastic bathroom and open planned bedroom. Most of this was floor to ceiling glass. The main house has a small indoor sitting area and dining room. The food was of a good quality. Plenty of good walks nearby and we were fortunate to have clear sunny weather for a helicopter trip to Milford Sound, which was extraordinary. There is a small pool, well equipped small gym and spa.

Matakauri Resort is part of 3 outstanding and world best resorts. Charming and luxurious rooms but need major renovation. The quality of the furniture is not comparable to its 2 sisters resorts, the Kauri Cliffs and the Farm at Cape Kidnappers. Food and service outstanding and great view. You feel to be in a private club. A must for all golfers. I greatly recommend to go to the 2 others.

If any lodge can be rated for its view then this one will come out 11 upon 10. Absolutely breathtaking awesome gorgeous views from your living room area where you can rest and relax with a book sipping wines from New Zealand. An outdoor patio is also available to take in the fresh NZ air. Dining is of high standards with choice canapés and drinks to start. Will be back
