I have stayed at Millbrook on a number of occasions in the past 15 years. It is considered one of NZ's better resort properties, giving itself a 5 star rating. However, on my visit this past weekend - and despite my having raised the issue with them on previous visits - I found that the guest courtesy shuttle bus operating between the resort property and Queenstown township continues to serve as both a guest facility and the staff transportation bus, with the staff being given priority in terms of drop-offs. It does occur to me that when the management of a 5 star resort can not see the issue of combining guest transportation with staff transportation, they, either, are not aware of the standards required to justify a 5 star rating - or they do not care.

Such a gorgeous environment. Excellent service, delicious food and warm, cozy, luxurious accommodation. I'll definately be back. We had our children there this time and the staff were more than accommodating for them as well.

This charming golfing resort, about 20 minutes outside of Queenstown, has a variety of hotel rooms, suites, cottages and villas. The check-in was efficient and we were shown to our 3 bedroom cottage. As the cottages may be individually owned, the interior decor in each one is different. We found our cottage to be a little dark and somber and it was next to another cottage that was being remodeled. Thankfully we were not disturbed by construction noise as we stayed over the Easter weekend. Our cottage, like most others, gave onto the fairway and it was a rather pleasant view. Our villa was quite nicely decorated as I had gone online and saw some rather garish designs (one had a bright blue kitchen counter top and cheap-looking cabinets.) While there was nothing fancy with the decor, the cottage was quite comfortable. We , however, didn't like the extremely small second and third bathrooms (a tiny sink, shower and toilet all cramped in.) While our master bathroom had a bathtub and a separate shower, it was a small bathroom with the toilet plonked right next to the sink. Finally the service in this resort was attentive and prompt. We were offered complimentary rides to nearby Arrowtown and all around the resort. While we didn't take them up on the ride to Arrowtown, we were shuttled to an on-site restaurant. However we ended up waiting over an hour for our food at the cafe and when we complained about this, we got lots of excuses rather than an apology. If you accept customers, you need to be able to serve them in a timely manner. This was unfortunately not the case and it did mar our experience with them. In addition, all their in-house restaurants were completely full so much so that they could not even take their resort guests.

This is our 2nd visit to Millbrook - and it won't be our last! Exceptional service from the pro shop, the cleaning staff, the cafe & the most beautiful acommodation. The golf course was of world class standard & the staff most friendly & acommodating. The scenery was beautiful - plenty of autumn reds & yellows & we could see ice on the mountains. A very relaxing holiday!

We came here to attend a wedding and loved this place. The grounds were sprawling and well kept. Staff was helpful and the buggy service was great to get from the reception to our cottage. Loved walking the grounds to enjoy the good views all around and fresh air. Our room was luxurious and comfortable. The only thing was the toilet was separate from the main bathroom. The main bathroom floor was warm and heated but the toilet floor wasn't. It was really cold to use when nightfall came. Breakfast area was cosy and we had a delicious buffet. One thing we noticed was with there were quite a few asian tourists as well and wondered if the breakfast selection could be diversified a bit to include some asian choices in addition to the current western spread. Overall, a lovely and picturesque stay.
