A Step Back in Time – A Colonial Experience Like No Other at Hacienda Jurica

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We just returned from an unforgettable stay at Hacienda Jurica in Querétaro, and I couldn’t recommend it more. This place is so much more than a hotel—it’s a beautifully preserved colonial estate filled with charm, history, and tranquility. From the moment we entered the gates, we were blown away by the architecture and atmosphere. The property is full of stunning details: stone archways, hand-carved wooden doors, colorful tiles, peaceful courtyards, and even a collection of vintage 19th-century stagecoaches. You can feel the history in every step you take—yet the comfort and service are completely modern. We stayed in the Executive Area, and our room was quiet, spacious, and tastefully decorated with traditional touches. Each morning, we woke up to birds singing and soft sunlight coming through the windows—it was the perfect escape from the usual city noise and stress. The service is where Hacienda Jurica truly shines. Every member of the staff was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. They made us feel at home right away. The on-site restaurant was another standout. The food was delicious—locally inspired with a modern twist. We especially loved the breakfast buffet which included made to order eggs, quesadillas and a variety of local delicacies like "quitlacoche" and "flor de calabaza"It was a perfect blend of authentic flavors and thoughtful presentation There’s so much to enjoy on the property: the peaceful gardens, a beautiful pool area, quiet walking paths, and plenty of cozy corners to relax and take it all in. It’s a perfect spot for couples, families, or anyone looking to slow down and enjoy a more authentic side of Mexico. We left feeling relaxed, recharged, and already talking about when we can return. Hacienda Jurica is a truly special place, and if you’re heading to Querétaro, I can’t recommend it enough. Room Tip: If you can, book in the Executive Area—it’s quiet, spacious, and feels extra private. Would we return? Absolutely—can’t wait

Disappointing... we will not be back.

This was our third stay at Hacienda Jurica, and unfortunately, it will be our last. Some of the problems we encountered follow. Note that any one of them wouldn't be an issue, but all-told they added up. - a plastic cover had been put over the shower drain, which we didn't see (we don't wear our eyeglasses when we're showering), and which then caused water to flood into the bedroom. - the bathroom only included one washcloth and one hand towel, even though we were in a king room for two. Thankfully, there were three bath towels, one of which we used to begin to clean up the flooding from the shower. - the pillows were so thick we couldn't sleep on them. And there were five pillows available, so it would have been great if two had been thinner. - even though we were told a bellhop was on his way after our call to the front desk, the bellhop still hadn't come to our room after 10 minutes. We were departing early at a time when there was no one else leaving, and since we had to depart to catch an airplane, we carried our luggage ourselves. which relates to: - our room was on the second floor, and there's no elevator, making access challenging (and one of us is somewhat mobility impaired). In addition, there is no handrail on the staircase, and there was no lighting on the staircase even when still dark (and cloudy) at 6:30am (see photos). There's lighting that seems to be on an automatic timer, but there's no way for customers to turn it on and off. This is potentially dangerous. - we had a business club room, which was supposed to include an afternoon reception, but there was no reception nor additional service. Business club is also supposed to be a larger room, but our room was a regular room size. - the bathroom lighting illuminated the main sleeping area through a see-through mirror, so there was no way to use the bathroom at night without waking up my partner. - service in the dining room was at times painfully slow (even simple things like getting morning coffee, getting ice with water, getting the bill). - the beautiful artwork that adorned the hallways on our last visits had been completed removed, so the hallways were barren. (not a big deal, but strange). All in all, given the relatively remote and tranquil location of the property and that (for us) we had to make a special trip to stay there, we have decided we will not be returning.

Completely unprepared for a power outage.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I was looking forward to three nights at this relaxing non-corporate hotel. We arrived, checked in and then were told there was no power. It was being worked on but with no idea of when it would be fixed. It had been out all day. After a few hours we decided to leave. The hotel made no offer to help find us another hotel. The staff seemed paralyzed and bewildered. Untrained for such an event. It’s one thing to have an outage (even if they did resiliency planning) but the staff should be trained and help their customers. Very disappointing.

Nice Hotel, not for sightseeing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

Nice Hotel, near nothing. Way too many mosquitoes and, although they try to control them, they got into my room. The swimming pool was also not available due to remodelling. If you want to have a relax visit to Queretaro, this is a nice place, but expect taking uber for everything.
