About the Hotel

Built as a private residence in 1756, La Casa de la Marquesa is a colonial gem in the ancient town of Queretaro, two hours north of Mexico City. This member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World offers just 25 suites richly adorned with fine antiques in the main house and in the neighboring La Casa Azul. Among the delights awaiting you at this family-owned hotel are wall frescoes, tapestries and Mexican specialties such as ants' eggs (as well as traditional cuisine) at Comedor de la Marquesa and more casual fare at the bistro-style cafe in La Casa Azul.

Beautiful place. Worst service in Queretaro

Beautiful place. No service at all. We arrived to have a desert there. Since the entrance it seemed that we were bothering them.We did not fell Welcome at all. We asked if we could have a coffee and desert. Even they say yea, the waiter disappear and never returned. After some time we decided to go. They did not looked surprised but relief. Go there see the place and go away. It is not worth to stay.

Do not go. It was good before new owner and administration. Sad.

Terrible experience since our arrival. The front desk man did not care if we arrive and it took long to send the valet parking. I stayed in this hotel when it was the best attraction in Queretaro. Now is miserable dusty. I know they want to maintain the original peaces which it makes a place valuable, however there are certain important updates that a Small luxury hotel needs to have, oh oh, looking for to find it in SLH, they don’t belong anymore, but they advertise it as if is part of this group. The new owner don’t care and on top of that they have the worse front desk representatives. Sofia Rodríguez said that I could leave my luggage because we needed to go out on time, OK, but she also said they would not be responsable for the same luggage, hilarious! The place is not worthy anymore. Hopefully there is a new owner that cares about it.

Lovely historic hotel in the heart of Querétaro

Beautiful and historic hotel perfectly located in the city center. The staff is exceptional and attentive. A lovely restaurant serving a delicious breakfast and a piano bar in the lobby complete the experience.

Amazing hotel

It was such a pleasure to stay in this beautiful historical treasure. The staff was so attentive and kind. Jesus at the front door and Benjamin the host were very friendly. There’s a wonderful piano player that gives the whole atmosphere a sense of timeless class! My wife and I look forward to another visit in the heart of the historic Centro of Queretero , a very pedestrian friendly area with wonderful cathedrals all around!

First time the Queretaro

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

When you walk up to this place, you feel like you are transported back in time. And then you walk into the hotel and are treated as if you were the Marquis or Marquess. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Jesus, the Bell Man was quick to get our luggage and direct us to the check-in area. Keep in mind that La Casa de La Marquise was built in 1756. It is a historical building that is part of the UNESCO Heritage. Be stoked that it is still standing and that you are able to stay and dine in such a historical establishment. Rooms might not be what one is used to, but this was luxury back in its time. Some lights and power sockets not working. It is what it is. If you are more used to modern luxury, this hotel may not be for you. But if you would like to experience a historical luxury house that was built by a powerful and rich Basque nobleman, then this is the boutique hotel for you. The food here is also exceptional and fairly priced. Benjamin, Maitre De, recommended dishes for both my wife and I, and we were not disappointed. I had the Mole Enchilada, and she has the Molcajeta de la Marquesa. Delicious. All the bread here is also baked in house. The chef, thank you for cooking such delicious and well prepared dishes. Cannot wait to come back to stay and dine here in the future. Thank you to the staff at La Casa de La Marquise for making our first experience to Queretaro so memorable and making us feel as if we were the Marquis and Marquess. Muchos gracias !
