The opulence and beauty of Italy's storied past is told within the walls of Sicily's Antica Badia Relais Hotel. Borrowing its name from the Italian phrase meaning "ancient abbey", Antica Badia pays homage to the region's history in eloquent detail, from the soaring Roman arches over entryways to the perfectly preserved 18th century ceramic flooring. Masterfully redesigned and recently reopened, historians and international jet-setters alike will find the perfect vacation destination in the richness and classic style of Antica Badia Relais Hotel. Boasting just twelve expansive rooms and suites, each space is uniquely designed and thoughtfully appointed, offering every guest a piece of history. The finest Italian textiles drape the arched windows that draw abundant natural light into the airy, spacious rooms. Simple and sophisticated in design, plush custom furnishings and elegant details like vaulted ceilings add character to the traditional beauty of each room, while an attentive, yet unobtrusive staff exceeds your every expectation with turndown service, in-room dining, and 24-hour concierge service.

A seriously good hotel. Great location. Impeccable service. Rooms are individual and spacious. Room 304 has its own balcony and is well appointed. Overlooks the cathederal and a short walk to the old city. Breakfast is good but best of all in a wonderful space

WOW... Relais Antica is the sort of property you take pictures of BEFORE you unpack your suitcase! We have stayed here 3 separate times and twice with a group we were responsible for so feel well qualified to review this hotel. The rooms are uniquely decorated with rich Italian fabrics and color each presenting windows with a different "slice" of Ragusa. It is centrally located to facilitate easy access to memorable restaurants and historic locations in this very old city of many layers. I highly appreciated their gracious and every helpful staff ( so wishing I had written down each individual name) from the front desk, room service and breakfast personnel. Each and every individual was proud of their city and anxious to assist us in any way. Thank you Relais Antica Badia for impressing our clients with your commitment, knowledge and enthusiasm. We would not hesitate to return.

This little palace is a treat to stay in for its unique decor in each of its palatial rooms. There’s a rooftop patio with nice views of Ragusa where we enjoyed wine that we had brought with us. The location is on a hill close to restaurants. A breakfast buffet ended our stay in high style.

This is a nice hotel, but lacked a few of the little extra things to make it feel like a luxury boutique. We booked 2 junior suites for our family of 4 - space was adequate, but the suites themselves were quite different sizes (but the same price). Pros: Good location in the upper part of Ragusa. Easy walk to restaurants, and about a 15 minute walk to the old part of town (though it is a steep walk down to get to the old town and then many many steps to get back up). Front desk staff is friendly. Beds are good quality. Windows seem to keep the noise out well enough. Bathrooms have everything you need and are clean. No parking, but there is a paid garage a couple blocks away that makes it easy to use your car. Cons: Not really cons, but given the price point, we hoped for some more of the small touches. For example: a/c doesn't work this time of the year (understandable), but the rooms got quite stuffy. Would have been nice to have a fan available for circulation. We did keep windows open when we could, but closed them at night to keep noise out and the room got hot. Breakfast was good, but they charged us 8 euros pp extra to order eggs. This was the only hotel we stayed at in Sicily (out of 6 hotels) that charged for that. They even ended up over-charging us (charging us for 5 orders of eggs instead of 4 one of the days) - I'm sure they would have fixed it, but I didn't notice until after we had checked out and by that point, I didn't bother to circle back. Would have been nice if they would just include hot items, as other hotels do. The hotel doesn't have any sort of bar or lounge area - there is a roof-top terrace, but it was very wind-blown and dusty, so not really nice for hanging out. The lobby itself is clean, but very sparse (just a reception desk really). Rooms were also a little sparse feeling - maybe add a rug or two in the rooms to make them feel more welcoming/cozy. No turn down service.

Lovely restored hotel in a former palace. Room was spacious and had all the modern amenities. Customer service was excellent and location was walkable to Ibla area if you do not mind lots of steps. Breakfast was very good.
