This hotel is situated in the very heart of Ragusa. We could park our car on the courtyard of the hotel. As we were the only guests on an Autumn day, the hotel felt a bit empty and cold, but on a busy Summer day it must be warm and cozy. The hotel is situated in a historic building. The interior tries to imitate this history, but is not really from those times, and this unfortunately shows - honestly the interior looks a little bit weird. We had the royal suite, which should be the best room. The room is large (and you enter the room immediately, no hallway). There is limited furniture in the room, which makes it feel somewhat empty and cold. In general you expect a sitting area and a sleeping area in a suite, but here you only have one room (and a separate bathroom). In the bathroom is only a sink and a bath with jacuzzi, no separate shower. To use the shower you have to sit in bath and hold the shower head in your hands above your head. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A bottle of Prosecco was waiting upon arrival. Staff showed us directions to a nearby excellent tratoria (Da Luigi) - go there one evening! Breakfast was well. A second time, I would try the junior suite.

It is far from perfect but it is charming. Rooms are incredible. We stayed for two nights with two small kids and people were very accommodating and patient with us. As some might have hinted here, breakfast is a disappointment, but you adapt. You could probably get a better breakfast anywhere else but then you will not get the beautiful hotel. Ragusa is pretty depressing right now, economical and otherwise so being in that opulent hotel makes you forget about that. Despite everything, it is still, one of my favourite hotels in Sicily. Great staff as well.

Elegant old hotel. The service on reception was extremely helpful and even when we returned after midnight they provided hot drinks to our room on request. Room we had was adequate but perhaps a little "tired". The Hotel is in the upper town part of Ragusa whereas the beautiful part of the city is the lower Ragusa Ibla and whilst it is a relatively short walk to Ibla there are a lot of steps to go down (and on return up!). However there is a twice hourly bus service from Ibla to the area outside the hotel or a taxi at a fixed 10euro

I decided to treat my husband for his 60th birthday and opted for this hotel on the basis of its 5 star rating. We have done a lot of travelling and have extensive experience of hotels of all stars but were a little disappointed with our experience. The location (in the centre of the main town) is excellent and you could not fault the super friendly and helpful staff but the accommodation itself, whilst charming, lacked some of the basics you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The hotel is a converted old palazzo and the conversion has been done extremely sympathetically but getting to our room involved ducking our heads to get through archways cut into the metre thick walls. The bedroom (we had a junior suite) was comfortable enough, especially the bed, but we had no shower in the bathroom (only a handheld attachment which involved squatting in the bath every morning), no shower curtain so water ended up all over the floor and no overhead light (only a lamp on the floor) so no reading in the bath! No coffee making facilities either. The top floor has a series of exquisite grand rooms, decorated in a highly ornate grand style. This is where the (average) breakfast was served (though the coffee was great). what we wondered was, why, with such beautiful rooms and space, do they not have a guest bar or communal area or just somewhere to while away some time rather than being confined to the bedrooms? I would say this is more a very charming boutique hotel but, if you want the comforts of a 5 star, you may well be disappointed.

Delightful centrally located hotel with Car Parking facilities, perfect for visiting the city of Ragusa and near by Ibla. Our room was spacious & comfortable with a large modern bathroom and walk-in jacuzi shower. We received a very warm welcome from Ignazio at reception who also advised us on the best tourist sites in the area. We would gladly return to Antica Badia Relais Hotel.
