Where do I even start. OK, maybe with the resort itself. As you drive in, you hold your breath. At vast vistas of gardens, and the beautiful pink limestone fort walls which greet you, giving you a glimpse of the royal experience that awaits. Rose petals drop from the fort ramparts as you walk in, and you are given the traditional Indian welcome. The resort itself is a sea of tranquility - the only sound being the screeching of peacocks, which roam the gardens in abundance. You see them every day, yet never get enough of them, getting your camera out to click every time one opens its tail to dance, or just scurries across your path, or when you catch one on your roof top or on a tree. The resort is vast, and very well maintained. The rooms are as expected - suitably grand, furnished tastefully, and with a sunken marble bathtub and open concept shower. If you want a quiet, peaceful holiday, away from it all, you will get it here. July is not a popular time to visit, but you get off peak rates, and the monsoon clouds and occasional rain are a treat, so it is something worth considering. The location is a bit out of the way - so do bear in mind that it's a half hour taxi ride to most sights in Jaipur (if you ever want to leave the resort anyway!) The thing that sets the place apart though, is the service. Initially you are a little taken aback, as it seems very much "in your face". My hotel experiences are mostly in other countries (as we stay with family in India), so it is unexpected. However, as you get used to it, you cannot but help succumb to the warmth and extreme hospitality. Nothing is too much trouble. After a while, you know the staff by name, and of course, they know you. There are too many people to thank to name them here, but I will say thank you to Abhishek, the GM, who helms the team. "Atithi deva bhavo" meaning "the guest is God" is an old Indian saying, and the Rajvilas takes it seriously. So many little personal touches, which left us all floored. The visit to Naila fort - the personal residence of the Oberoi family - was so special, with dark monsoon clouds in the sky, and the sunset (and a rainbow!) peeping through, beautiful views of Jaipur down below, and piping hot tea and small bites. An absolute must do if you get the chance. We were kings and queens for a week. Sadly back at home now, but the memories will stay for a very long time. Thank you for everything!

A beautiful lobby welcomes you to the pretty main building, but the highlight is your room which is set in separate buildings and tents. The grounds are full of peacocks, so the mornings can be quite loud. It's a pleasure to explore the resort to find the picturesque angles present all over.

We had an amazing stay at the Oberoi Rajvilas with my Family. From check in to check out the staff cannot do enough for you & are so lovely. The restaurants are charming too, really delicious food. Mostly I enjoyed the grounds of the hotel, the swiming pool and of course the spectacular gardens and architecture of this palace hotel. As always, the Oberoi Butler service is perfect: Always available for helping you with anything you need. Summarizing, perfect management, delightful personnel, professional service and the best quality. I fully recommended this Hotel!

We spent 3 fabulous nights at Rajvilas. We will be coming back!! The staff and service is incompatible to any other hotel in the world, maybe with the exception of the other Oberoi hotels. We totally enjoyed the relationships we built with the staff, and were so impressed with their professionalism. Again, well done Mr Oberoi.
