Friendly service worth the money

My husband and I spent 3 glorious days at this property. Two weeks before arrival I emailed them that we were there to celebrate our anniversary. I also asked for restaurant recommendations. I immediately received recommendations of several types of restaurants from Sushi to French. We visited 2 of the restaurants they suggested, both turned out to be good. On arrival, we found the hotel teeming with a large corporate group. We couldnt get the upgrade we had requested, however they offered us complimentary late checkout. They also sent complimentary chocolate strawberries to the room. They did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Speaking of, the entire staff is extremely polite; from valet to front desk to the concierge and even the engineering staff. The valet staff will offer cold bottles of water as you step in and out. Thats a nice touch when its 102 degrees outside. Lucia- their engineering manager (?) arranged for us to get cappucinno by the pool at 5:00AM, because we wanted to watch the sunrise. They will literally bend over backwards to accommodate (reasonable) request. They had a lovely spread of candy at the concierge desk everday. I had been sending pics to my kids, teasing them. I thought it would be cute to bring some home. I requested and they created two cute lil bags of candy for us. What a nice touch!!! The property is beautifully located. Great views and awesome hikes close by. They have two pools; one adult only pool and another for families. So why 4 stars? We had asked our luggage to be placed in the car at checkout. We went for breakfast. An hour later as we were about to leave, the luggage was still not in the car. We had to.wait a few minutes. Not a biggie but details are important. Remember the candy packets they put together for my kids? One of them had an empty candy wrapper. Made me wonder if I should let the kids eat the rest of the candy. Not cool. Overall, I would still recommend this property.

Luxurious desert resort near Palm Springs

Lifetime elite member who spends 100+ nights a year as a business and leisure traveler. The property and staff were all absolutely top notch. 5/5 recommend. The staff, location and property itself really makes this an exceptional place to stay! I want to mention and thank a couple staff members by name. Direction of operations Kal Khatteche was kind enough to upgrade our room and deftly resolved an issue for us. Also I cannot forget to thank the staff at the pool and bar. We visited in late April. The staff happily brought us more toiletries, extra towels, etc. Clean lovely suite. The bathroom was exceptional. A great patio view of the desert. The food was superb. We had room service and food poolside. Thank your wonderful staff and we are very grateful. Kudos to the management for running this resort so well!!! We will see you again!

Disappointed and underwhelmed.

Staying at a Ritz has a certain expectation. The property seemed dated and not maintained to what you would expect. The chaise lounge at the main pool was ripped with stuffing coming out. There were food spills on the pool patio that had not been cleaned up and had hardened and baked in the sun. It was disgusting. The scale in the room didn't work. No mini bar in the room. My suggestion is go to a different Ritz Carleton.

Not a 5 star property

I have to agree with a previous post saying this property is similar to a Marriott. It’s definitely not a high end luxury property that we were expecting from Ritz. Fire pit rooms are lovely and on the ground floor however no sound proofing in rooms or halls - can hear every conversation from next door rooms and every door slam and kid running in the halls. Service was frustratingly lacking and slow. Food just ok and very over priced. We chose to eat off property after day one. Pool attendants and housekeeping were lovely. “Kids club” is a games room only open weekends. Not enough pool loungers, pool water cold, hot tub not attached to pool. Not a lot to do at the hotel, and it’s a secluded property. You need a car to explore the nearby area, nothing to see from walking. Unfortunately theres a lot better hotels in the area to choose over this.

Exactly what you’d expect.

Fine. A bit dated. Rooms are nice enough, but overlooked small issues. No bath mat. Toilet paper holder was broken, railing in elevator was also broken laying on floor for 2 days straight. Restaurants not great. Lots of people from OC and SD if you know what I mean. People yapping on cell phone at pool, etc. Right on flight path to PSP expect jet engine noise every 90-180 seconds all day long.
