Reviews for Terranea Resort
The beauty of the resort, the scope of services, and the food are wonderful! My husband and I have been there on a regular basis and have happy memories. This past time involved specific arrangements, and there seemed to be communication issues. If there is more to a visit here than eating and walking the trails, be very diligent and involved with the plans to make sure everything is done right. Shouldn't be necessary for this type of resort, but I would take different actions next time.
We had an expensive noisy room by the pool. We couldn't use the balcony after being hit with Nerf football and a basketball. Save your money and go up or down the coast a few miles for a quality stay at a fair price. The hotel survey wouldn't accept my comments so I'm including them here.
The resort is located in a beautiful peaceful location. Felt like we were far away even though we live locally. A wonderful family retreat with plenty of outdoor activities. We will definitely come again,.
please see comments in survey. We’ve been coming to and enjoying Terranea since it’s opening 10 years ago. We’ve been many, many times. We arrived at 12pm on Monday, May 15 and waited until 3:30pm to get into a room. I had requested a ground floor room. Finally at 3:30pm I said that any room would be fine and we were given a room in the same place but on the other side (perfect, all the same to us. We just wanted ground floor, that was the only request.) However, there were two very troubling issues: 1 – We were given a handicap access room. We were not told it was handicap access and thus it DID NOT have a bathtub. We were not asked if that was suitable. Without hesitation I would have said no. The Terranea bathroom/tub is a main amenity we look forward to. I didn’t even use the shower because it felt like a hospital. (I don’t mean any disrespect, of course.) I just didn’t like the feeling of the bathroom and wasn’t comfortable in it. It is my belief, that a staff person should advise if one is being given a handicap access room. I went so far as to let the Concierge know (for constructive feedback) and I asked him if it was part of the training and he said it was not. No apology. 2 – Our room faced the pool, which seemed nice. But, the music was blasting from the time we accessed the room until 7:55pm. We called at 5pm to inquire. Then we called again at 6pm and were told that the manager would take care of it right away. It was another 50 minutes until it was turned off. We told them that NOBODY was even at the pool. After 3 hours of waiting for the room (we realize check in is 4pm, so we weren’t upset, just disappointed) my husband really didn’t feel well and only wanted to rest in the room. But, the music was very disturbing. It takes a lot to rattle him, but he said that he came to Terranea for “quiet enjoyment” and that he didn’t have any of that on this trip. Finally, we got up and prepared for the 10am “Sculpt and Stretch” class on Tuesday, May 16 in the gym. When we arrive we learn that ½ the class is cardio with the step apparatus – and we did not bring our tennis shoes. I inquired with the teacher and she said non-chalantly – “oh, I really need to change the description on the sheet.” There were a confluence of frustrating issues that completely adversely infected our short stay. Honestly, it felt like the hotel training and service had slipped quite a bit.

The resort facilities were well maintained however the hotel appeared over capacity which negatively affected the service. wait times for valet, room service were way too long. The Mar'Sel brunch was absurdly overpriced and food under delivered.
