Reviews for Terranea Resort

Great place with a wonderful staff.

To whomever it concerns; Had to order some flowers to leave in my spouse’s room for her birthday. Well, the hotel concierge desk was more than helpful. From just a phone call they left flowers, two hats and a stuffed animal for her, which she loved. A special thanks to Gigi for putting all this together for me. You were more than helpful and I appreciate your kindness very much. I am told the hotel is beautiful and we plan to make it out there, together, in the near future. If you are planning a stay near Los Angeles, you should look into this place.

A Disastrous Holiday Weekend Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our recent stay at this hotel was a huge disappointment. While we expected a relaxing and upscale experience, we instead encountered a series of frustrating issues that made the stay feel completely not worth the high price tag. We made the effort to fill out the pre-arrival questionnaire and disclosed we were celebrating our anniversary, which was not acknowledged once during our stay, but instead received an unripe peach on a plate and a note thanking us for staying with Amex's FHR rate, the note also referenced the 'heartful hospitality' of the resort and the undeniable irony of this was a theme of the weekend. The fees were outrageous — $72 per night for valet and another $72 for a “resort fee” that didn’t seem to cover much of anything. The valet itself was chaotic, with wait times regularly exceeding 45 minutes, whether we were trying to retrieve our car and the hotel shuttle service always seemed to be whizzing by to pick up someone much more important than us. The room was a disappointment as well. The phone and TV didn’t work, and despite reporting the issues, no one ever followed up. The room was also incredibly noisy, with carts rattling by every 3 minutes, making it difficult to relax or sleep. The pools were completely overrun — overcrowded, loud, and lacking basic cleanliness. Poolside cocktails were inexplicably served in paper coffee cups, which added to the general feeling of disorganization. As for poolside service? Basically nonexistent. We ended up standing in lines at the bar ourselves, only to be handed overpriced drinks in disposable cups. Even basic services were stretched to the limit. The front desk was constantly overwhelmed, with long lines and staff who seemed too busy to offer anything but rushed responses. Overall, the hotel was far too crowded to deliver the kind of service or atmosphere you'd expect for the cost. Save your money and book elsewhere. This hotel is not delivering on its promises.

Two exceptional servers.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

For my birthday my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to this resort, Terranea. Mariah and Veronica were the most outstanding servers in the entire place. 1. Attentive! Greeted us immediately with smiles. 2. Knowledgeable about the menu and timing. 3. Genuinely hospitable personalties. We had scoured the resort on Sunday to find eggs @11am. Long story, but these ladies were a breath of fresh air in a sea of servers. Maybe they’ll be promoted and train the rest!

Dangerous swimming pool , overcrowded NO LIFEGUARD. Beware! Rip off , old and tatty needs complete refurb

We went for the Labour Day weekend, The last time we were here was 10 years ago, well then , it was fabulous but now the place looks shabby and dated . The furniture in the room is bashed after years of wear . Breakfast took forever and staff incompetent. The worst though was that there were literally a very overcrowded swimming pool and NO LIFEGUARD. I feel this is totally irresponsible and frankly scary . I found myself very stressed watching all little kids on the overcrowded pool bumping into each other. There weren’t enough chairs round the pool for the amount of guests and they ran out of food round the pool . Overall for the huge amount of money we’re paying for 3 nights and three rooms this is an abysmal experience and I’m afraid not one I would recommend. I will not be returning

My husband and I returned from a two night stay and we fell in love with this special place. We will definitely go back again, and maybe even bring the kids next time. The service was terrific, the food amazing, and the spa fantastic!

My wife and I just returned from a 3-night stay at Terranea Resort. We bid and won the package on Luxury Link. The resort was spectacular and the service was second to none. From the moment we pulled our car up to the beautiful entrance we knew we were in for a treat. We arrived around noon and were a little concerned that we were too early to check in, but it was not a problem and we flew through the check-in. The view from our balcony was incredible. There was nothing between us and the blue Pacific Ocean. If we had to choose the best thing about the resort (which is hard to do), we would have to say the massages at the spa were the best we have ever had. This resort is all about service. The staff always had a smile on their faces and went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed and you were having a good time. The resort is luxury without being pretentious. I don't have a single complaint or suggestion for improving my stay. Thanks for an incredible vacation.

My husband and I just returned from an absolutely fabulous weekend at Terranea. Our 2 night package from Luxury Link included a beautiful ocean view suite, fabulous massages and outstanding breakfasts. The grounds are amazing and we never even left the resort. On Friday and Saturday they have a jazz band that plays in the lobby that was world-class entertainment. Every one of their wonderful employees went out of their way to make our anniversary weekend special. I am so happy that I took the risk of bidding on my first Luxury Link package, as it exceeded all my expectations - and I got a fabulous deal! I will definitely use this site again!

We just returned from fantastic weekend birthday stay at Terranea in an ocean-view suite. Service was top-notch and the grounds are terrific. We watched the sun set into the ocean both nights. They even have a falconer that brings his birds out on a golf cart to deter sea gulls, including an enormous Northern European owl with orange eyes. There were great spa treatments and excellent restaurants, including the stand-out Mar'sel. We will be back.

My wife and I just stayed at the resort for 3 nights and it was fabulous. We received extraordinary service! Our meals, the room and the grounds are well worth the price we paid. We will go again and again. We can't say enough about the whole time we spent there.

When my husband and I booked our Terranea package, it seemed too good to be true. Connecting ocean view rooms, 2 massages, breakfast and parking included on a popular August weekend for $1,000? Turns out it was better than anything we could have imagined. The rooms are absolutely 5-star, and the property is breathtaking. The best part, however, was the staff - who really went out of their way to accommodate our every request. At the end of the weekend, the kids were well rested, we were well rested and we couldn't believe we never knew about this resort which is only 2 hours from San Diego. Fantastic. Perfect. Thank You.
