Reviews for Terranea Resort
Improve your cleanliness of guest rooms before check in. Hire quality wait staff. Increase experience for adults in adult pools. Keep cielo point pool open longer. Enforce 13 and over at upper pool - young kids swimming and in hot tub.
The hotel was outrageously priced in terms of food/beverage for the quality. We got sick after eating at Nelson's. The adult pool is gross abs like a night club experience. Super cheesy. Location was great.

The spa was fantastic! Chis, Jesse, and Dwayne from the spa were fabulous, friendly, and went the extra mile to make sure we enjoined our stay. Unfortunately, our room was not so great! The patio was not cleaned; there were cigarette ashes left on the patio furniture and empty cigarette boxes left ( I have pictures if needed). One of the window treatments was broken so we were unable to close the window blind, and the drain for the bathtub was broken so the tub did not hold bath water properly nor drain the bath water properly. It took about 2 hours to drain the tub; which we had to listed to while trying to fall asleep. Upon checking out I did let Patricia know about our concerns. She asked if we had called the front desk to take care of these issues but I did tell her that we didn't get to our room until 10ish and didn't want to be further inconvenienced by having hotel personnel up to our room nor were we prepared to need to relocate. Other than offering a general and rather unsninsear apology, no other efforts were made to rectify the situation. Furthermore, I made reservations at Catalina Kitchen for two, we were not notified that it was buffet night! Due to the fact that we we're not notified prior to our stay we were unable to make other arrangements as most restaurants on the premise were booked. I'm 6 months pregnant and have become a rather picky eater during my pregnancy. I specifically choose this restaurant as it had food that appealed to me. My husband and I ended up spending $140 dollars to eat salad at and all you can eat buffet as we had minimal choices left at that time. At the end of the day a $1200 stay at a resort for 1 night should not include such occurrences.
Continues to exceed all our expectations. Definitely a "must see" resort. It is more crowded as time goes on. Staff are Incredible. Resort is spacious. Location is phenomenal. I will continue to come to Terranea twice a year.

Terranea is situated on the rocky Southern California coast line in well manicured grounds with terrific views. A sprawling site with the main hotel as a center piece. We booked a two bed villa (5 min uphill walk to the hotel) which is actually a one bed with adjoining room. It's big let's start with that but the ground floor lounge is very dark, I would suggest asking for a 2nd floor unit which have better views and lighter as they they have an open terrace. I think it's a California thing but the obsession with cheap energy saving light fixtures does nothing for the atmosphere, cold and grim. Washer / Dryer included in the main suite, powder but no conditioner though. Biggest gripe with the room was the aircon did not work, we arrived late so did not realise it was on just blowing warm air. Reported next day to reception nothing happened, later reported to the cleaner who seemed more concerned. A man came to fix it but it was never resolved, so spent 3 days without aircon. Reception never followed up on it that was poor. The view from the room was also somewhat blighted by a portable toilet block that was parked outside Nelson's, and if live music is your thing Neilson's served it up by the bucket load over the weekend we were there, if you went for a quiet retreat avoid rooms near that restaurant. The main pool was very busy lots of young children, the spa pool is 18+ so if you are 15 your choice seems a bit limited. We tried a few restaurants and overall the food was good if a bit expensive but it's an expensive place anyway so you should not be surprised. You would have to eat for hours to get value for money from the Sunday brunch which was particularly expensive. Overall this is a pretty upmarket resort and some of the main hotel rooms clearly have spectacular views, leave the kids behind spend the day in the Spa complex (extra of course) but far away from the madding crowd. Enjoy....
