Terranea is an expensive resort, so my wife and I arrived with pretty high expectations. The food was fine, but the restaurants are spread out. The parking is fine, but unless you're in your own bungalow or paying for valet, getting to your car is a hike. The room was great, but the bungalows and villas are way spread out, and since they are, they attract loud late night parties for which inconvenience the staff will comp you day passes at the spa. You will need after a sleepless night. On the other hand, the male spa pool security types jealously guard the pool for guests who have booked spa services, so having a comped wrist band day pass didn't spare my wife and her friends from repeated interrogation and disbelief that they were legitimately comped for the rowdy late night party. The views and trails are spectacular, and there are plenty of stars at night. We loved seeing the birds and bunnies on the property, and the falconer demonstration was a highlight. So Terranea was mostly great, but there are other coastal resorts we prefer.

The views of Catalina and the Pacific Ocean a breathtaking. There's so much to do at the property and so many venues to enjoy. The staff is very wanting and willing to please and friendly. The food is wonderful. I was there for a association strategic planning which was facilitated by the staff to be a wonderful event. You can see how this would be a great place to bring your family for a wonderful vacation. The views are spectacular. The rooms are quiet and easy to rest and relax. I am a stickler for nice beds or sleep and these have them. He will not be disappointed. It is certainly away from the hustle and bustle of the City of Los Angeles. It must've been a hell Los Angeles was in the 20s and 30s! A great destination for business or for family.

My favorite part of this resort was taking my daily walks along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It was breathtaking. Our chalet was quaint and very private. It was a short walk to the hotel lobby. The pool was lovely and a short walk down the cliff took me to a private beach. The health club and spa was lovely and I loved doing the open air yoga class overlooking the ocean. The restaurants we experiences were delicious. Loved sitting outside the coffee shop and talking to other travelers. This is a five star resort!
