Reviews for Terranea Resort

Not worth it, don't waste your money!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I stayed here 3 nights (03/20-23) in 2026 and this is my honest review. This place is gorgeous and perfectly located, this is the only positive thing I can say about Terranea Hotel, and I am not sure if I can call this place a resort, this is definitely not a resort. 1) I specifically asked the receptionist at check in time to give me a room so that I don't face parking lot. I don't understand why she ignored my request and gave me the room with the view of parking lot. This is terrible and disappointing, paying over $600 per night and looking at cars all day is not my ideal relaxation especially when the hotel is half empty, why assigning room that I specifically asked NOT TO. 2) This hotel is not gated with no security, anyone can come in and roam around enjoying the view, eat in the restaurant without even being a guest here, it is so odd. Anyone can go up to any floor use the elevator that the guests are using, the outsiders can enter any room just by knocking their door. I don't feel safe here. 3) no private beach here, outside people have access to the beach, to the lobby, to beautiful grounds and etc. What is the point of paying such high prices per night when it is not even private. Don't get me wrong this place is gorgeous but why pay high price for stay if it is free and available to everyone and anybody. 4) The housekeeping is not good at this place. I left the room at 8 am and came back 4 pm and the room still was not cleaned by housekeepers. They had 8 hours to do it and they did not. 5) The check out time is not good, I asked if they could allow me to do late check out, they said no, check out is 11 am -11;30 am. You must be a little flexible if you charge luxury fees. 6) Fox news Chanel is missing; you only have local and fake news Chanels. I felt like I was cut off and isolated from the world without knowing what is happening outside of this place. 7) and the final surprise was during my check out when I saw the bill. They automatically charge $9 tip for the housekeeping per night. I paid $27 for housekeeping even-though I was not happy with their service. Tipping is no longer optional here, it is MANDATORY, WOW. The management must change the policy, lower the prices this way you will have more people staying here. I spoke to many clients at the pool, and they all complained about the pricing. I just wonder how this place still in business. I would not recommend it

Make shift AC unit leak

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

There is a make shift AC unit in our casita leaking water everywhere. The hotel acted confused on why it was there. Very bizarre considering I obviously did not install it. Not a 5 star experience. Horrible communication from the front desk.

Mid-level Corporate Hotel Charging Luxury Prices

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful location, very corporate hotel. Sent four emails and made one phone call before my pre-arrival questions about transportation were answered. Noise from the bar necessitated my moving rooms the first night. Staff moved me willingly. First morning breakfast omelette at Nelson’s was mediocre, second morning visited three onsite restaurants looking for yogurt to discover at 9 am they had run out. Rooms are big but plain. This is not a luxury hotel. Expected more for the price.

Terranea resort is an oasis on the coast of Southern California!

My husband and I came to Los Angeles to visit family and stayed at Terranea for a long weekend. We had stayed before 2 years ago and returned as it is so beautiful and we loved our experience for that visit. Upon entering the property we first stopped at Valet desk where we were greeted by a friendly and attentive gentleman. He welcome us and we proceeded to the Porte Cochere for check in. As we drove up to the circle we were greeted by Isaac and another Bellman who welcomed us back. "Welcome back Mr and Mrs Grandsire!" Wow! We checked in with Dalia who was so friendly and thorough and then escorted to our room. The room was so clean, fresh and bright with a stunning view of the bluffs and ocean. It was magical. The lobby lounge was super busy and alive with entertainment both nights we were there - people dancing, talking, laughing. Very friendly and attentive, Lauren was our server bottle evenings. She welcomed us back and remembered our names the second night. Again, wow! The room was beautifully turned down both nights we were there. There was a bookmark left near where I kept my book at bedside, my charging cables were neatly rolled and tied. A linen spray was provided as well as a sachet of lavender seeds as a keepsake reminder of the natural landscape on property. We were able to get to the coffee shop one morning. Friendly staff! Great service and delicious coffee 😉 I love the atmosphere outside at the tables which are situated underneath a large tree which provides shade. Very comfortable and cozy. We popped into the boutique just next to the cafe which has a great selection of almost everything and I was pleasantly surprised that the pricing was in line with those outside the property. They feature everything from the signature oil scents found on property to great swimwear, activewear, dresses, etc. Some very unique items! Our last night included dinner at Baschi - it was crowded and lively. Our server was so lovely, friendly and made suggestions when we needed them. The chef, Dennis, came out to greet us. The food did not take long at all and was delicious. Great experience! And finally, Robert, at the front desk was extremely polite and engaging young checking out. Such a beautiful resort, amazing staff and beautiful landscape. We walked everywhere to explore the grounds and property - the coastline pathways are well maintained with people walking their dogs and talking. We will be back soon I hope!

My wife and I just returned from a 3-night stay at Terranea Resort. We bid and won the package on Luxury Link. The resort was spectacular and the service was second to none. From the moment we pulled our car up to the beautiful entrance we knew we were in for a treat. We arrived around noon and were a little concerned that we were too early to check in, but it was not a problem and we flew through the check-in. The view from our balcony was incredible. There was nothing between us and the blue Pacific Ocean. If we had to choose the best thing about the resort (which is hard to do), we would have to say the massages at the spa were the best we have ever had. This resort is all about service. The staff always had a smile on their faces and went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed and you were having a good time. The resort is luxury without being pretentious. I don't have a single complaint or suggestion for improving my stay. Thanks for an incredible vacation.

My husband and I just returned from an absolutely fabulous weekend at Terranea. Our 2 night package from Luxury Link included a beautiful ocean view suite, fabulous massages and outstanding breakfasts. The grounds are amazing and we never even left the resort. On Friday and Saturday they have a jazz band that plays in the lobby that was world-class entertainment. Every one of their wonderful employees went out of their way to make our anniversary weekend special. I am so happy that I took the risk of bidding on my first Luxury Link package, as it exceeded all my expectations - and I got a fabulous deal! I will definitely use this site again!

My husband and I returned from a two night stay and we fell in love with this special place. We will definitely go back again, and maybe even bring the kids next time. The service was terrific, the food amazing, and the spa fantastic!

We just returned from fantastic weekend birthday stay at Terranea in an ocean-view suite. Service was top-notch and the grounds are terrific. We watched the sun set into the ocean both nights. They even have a falconer that brings his birds out on a golf cart to deter sea gulls, including an enormous Northern European owl with orange eyes. There were great spa treatments and excellent restaurants, including the stand-out Mar'sel. We will be back.

My wife and I just stayed at the resort for 3 nights and it was fabulous. We received extraordinary service! Our meals, the room and the grounds are well worth the price we paid. We will go again and again. We can't say enough about the whole time we spent there.

When my husband and I booked our Terranea package, it seemed too good to be true. Connecting ocean view rooms, 2 massages, breakfast and parking included on a popular August weekend for $1,000? Turns out it was better than anything we could have imagined. The rooms are absolutely 5-star, and the property is breathtaking. The best part, however, was the staff - who really went out of their way to accommodate our every request. At the end of the weekend, the kids were well rested, we were well rested and we couldn't believe we never knew about this resort which is only 2 hours from San Diego. Fantastic. Perfect. Thank You.
