Reviews for Terranea Resort
First of all, I have to say that this hotel is excellent overall. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurants have tasty food. The amenities are excellent. The rooms are very nice. And of course, the views are superb. However, there are some negatives that need to be addressed. There is a lot of disorganization at check-in. Guests are repeatedly told that check-in is only allowed at a certain time because the rooms are not ready by then. Guests are told that they will be notified if the rooms are ready. However, guests are not notified. After not being notified that my room was ready, and waiting past the guaranteed check-in time, I had to complain that I've been waiting past the designated guaranteed check-in time. The front desk staff rudely provided me my key and sent me on my way. The other major issue is that grounds work gets started very early in the morning, 7 AM. Therefore, you will be woken up by the sounds of lawnmowers. That is extremely frustrating. Lastly, management has not instructed their employees to be courteous when they park their cars. Employees have to drive past the Casitas in order to access the parking lot. There are multiple employees who drove past early in the morning with loud music blasting out of their cars as they drove past guestrooms. So obnoxious. Aside from these few issues, the hotel is excellent. However, management needs to do a better job instructing their employees on etiquette and when gardening should utilize their power equipment.

What a golf course ! Although just a par 3 course with only 2-3 holes more than 175 yrds from the tee, it is still a challenge with the wind and fast greens . Conditions were pristine and the views of the golf course is second to none !!! The best part of it is that anyone can play this golf course !!! Come try it out !!
Attended a business conference here. The attention to detail for both the rooms and the meeting space were excellent. I never had a bad meal or bad cocktail. I would love to come back for a couples get away!

I stayed here on a business trip, and while Terranea is a lovely property with some impressive amenities and luxurious lodging options, I found it to be a massive and lonely place. My room had a lot of minor problems - if I had paid to stay there with my own money for a relaxing vacation I would have been really upset. Things got off to an awkward start when I pulled down the driveway and was asked if I wanted to self-park or valet. Surprise! They're the same price! That just makes no sense and I don't understand why they even give you a choice... Check-in staff was certainly polite and I don't want anyone to get in trouble but everyone just seemed kinda dead behind the eyes. You get you the scripted, "Please let me know if I can do anything to enhance your stay" type of lines while they're staring down at their computer screens like airport baggage claim agents - they have the enthusiasm you'd expect from someone who has said these things 10,000 times. I was excited to find out I had an ocean view room. When I told the bellman room number he goes, "Hope you're ready for a walk." 6237 is really at the far end of the main building. I think I zig-zagged down a maze of 5 hallways before getting there. The room looked like it was going to be quite comfortable (and the king bed was very comfy) but lots of minor nuisances kept me from really enjoying it: 1) The dresser drawer handle was broken (I called someone to come fix it and they came right away) 2) There was a weird stain on the fabric of the bed frame. 3) The dimmable LED lights in the bathroom kept flickering faintly and the dimmer switch was loose so it would slowly sink down and change the strength of the lighting. 4) There's a Keurig machine in the room, which is great, but the pods leaked coffee grounds into every cup I made. 5) The huge TV is SO awesome but the remote responds really slowly - argh! 6) The shower drain clogged up and by the end of every shower I was standing in 3 inches of water. 7) Every time I ran the hot water in the bathroom sink I smelled something funky. It went away after 10 seconds but... yuck. 8) There are 2 alarm clocks in the room and they have all the charging cords you could ever hope far but the stupid LED display is annoyingly bright and I couldn't figure out how to make it dimmer. It sucks to stay in a luxury hotel and have to cover the clock with a dirty sock. The views from the property out into the ocean are really remarkable and the banquet staff was quite nice, but I don't think I would ever choose to stay here for a vacation (I certainly couldn't afford it, either).

We had a great stay a Terranea. The property is set on bluffs which offer amazing ocean and golf course views. The grounds are beautifully cleaned and cared for. The restaurants, bars and pools are also great. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and business clients.
