The Excelsior Palace in Rapallo is divine. The location is spectacular - near Santa Margharita and Portofino, but just enough distance away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is gorgeous with beautiful rooms and amazing views from each room. There are 2 pools and many terraced areas to soak in the sun. All these spots have bar service as well. We were 2 couples enjoying a night in the area, but families are equally represented. The whole experience was a delight.

It was a great pleasure to stay in this fantastic hotel and feel highest possible level of hospitality provided by real Team of Professionals. There is no need to name what was good, because everything starting from arrival and finishing with so pleasant touch of attention as meal box for our way to Milano was done on the level which my family and me even could not imagine in our dreams. Llovely dinners both in Eden Rock and Lord Byron restaurants will stay in our hearts foever! Yes, the Hotel is not cheap. But our life is so short that we can not allow to waste it for chip stuff. Here you see and feel for what you are paying and belive me it cost its rates. Thank you Excelsior Palace! Thank You Aldo for managing the Team! Thank you Marco for your advises regarding dishes and wine!

We stayed a week at this hotel. Room was nice & spacious with a lovely sea view. Staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them. For example, we did not like the orange juice at breakfast, so they brought us freshly squeezed every day at no extra cost. A small gesture maybe, but these things make a difference. The restaurant food was very good if rather expensive! However the Thursday evening buffet was great value & not to be missed. We found the restaurants in Rapallo expensive & very average so ended up dining in the hotel most nights. Lovely beach club, infinity pool was great, & had easy access for swimming in the sea. Hotel is well positioned, only 10 minute walk to centre of town. It is without doubt the best hotel in Rapallo, well done to all the staff!

This hotel has all of the credentials to be a first rate hotel, however it falls down on a number of factors: - The rooms are small, tired and very traditional. The air con is noisy, the furniture falling apart and in this age, to only have one power point in the room which is barely accessible is unforgivable. The Wi-Fi is pretty ropey as well. - The hotel staff couldn't satisfy a fairly simple request to reserve a table at breakfast to celebrate a special occasion. - The pools are lovely, but why is there no bar service at the poolside? - Is it really necessary to make guests wait while all of the passport details are taken at check-in? Couldn't they be photocopied then the details keyed in separately at a later time? - Why wasn't the main restaurant open everyday for lunch and dinner? Seems odd that a five star hotel doesn't have it's main restaurant open on a Thursday night.... - Live music being played until midnight, right below rooms with inadequate sound-proofing is not reasonable. The location of the hotel is on the outskirts of Rapallo, so beware it's a good 10-15 minute walk (or an expensive taxi journey) into town. The views from the restaurant (at breakfast at least) are lovely and breakfast itself is comprehensive and the service is efficient. This was a disappointingly average experience at a hotel that promised much.
