This was our second stop on our Italy journey, and man was it a good choice! It is very close to the train station and the drive up the winding driveway to get to the top to the hotel was the first piece of the beautiful grounds. This hotel is seriously gorgeous with tons of white marble, a huge lobby, and an extra big patio with a view to kill!! The bar was decorated in a yachting theme with dark wood and very friendly staff. The front desk staff were very friendly as well, recommending great restaurants and answering any questions we had. We walked to all the restaurants we ate in, so the row of restaurants on the water were nice and close. Our room was beautiful, mostly in white, with again, a nice sized patio with the most gorgeous view of the water. We even had curtains that opened and closed electronically! I felt pretty fancy needless to say šŸ˜¬ The breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious, with both hot and cold choices, and you could get a great seat with sea view if you don't arrive too late. I certainly recommend this beautiful hotel. It had everything we were looking for, and then some!!

When you visit the Italian coast you dream of some romantic place at a beach with palm trees and nice food. Exactly this you can expect when you enter this magnificent hotel. On top of a hill overlooking the sea and the village of Rapallo this hotel offers you all that you need. Friendly staff, great service and clean and beautiful rooms. The pools and entrance to the private beach make this hotel a great spot to spend some relaxing days at the italian coast.

Simply put, this is one of the best hotels i have visited in my life. I am 55 year old and travel a lot both for business and pleasure. I have been at the Plaza in New York and at the Negresco in Nice. All to say: i have seen things. The Excelsior Palace in Rapallo is in numerous ways one of the very best places ever. Why? It has the elegance and historical flair of a Grand Hotel of the Belle Epoque but a modern and warmhearted service of highest contemporary standards. We were upgraded to a small but sea-facing room (without balcony). The view was wonderful. We had drinks in the beautiful bar, decorated with great taste with maritime elements and reference to the history of the hotel. With your drinks you get tasty snacks. If you want you can order exquisite additional small things to go with your drinks- a whole dinner altogether. The history of the hotel is indeed long and glorious, with numerous international actors and politicians and people of culture counting among the guests. The breakfast was wonderful. We sat on the beautiful terrace overlooking both the bay of Rapallo and the the coast towards Portofino. The breakfast had EVERYTHING you may desire. The personnel was professional, friendly, in elegant liveries and almost as many as one per table attended. Fresh bakery, fresh mozzarella, great coffee. Unbeatable combination. There is a wonderful pool overseeing the sea, with chaise-lounges to sun bath. The Excelsior towers on a rock in the best possible position. Our car was valet-parked and kept within eyesight the entire stay. All services are performed with a natural and easy manner- no stress no complications. Everybody is treated like a king. The reception desk is wonderful and embodies all best cliches of a true grand hotel reception. The concierge is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and gave us great pieces of advice. We have finally found a hotel were friendliness and professional service is in the DNA of the place. Currently our favorite hotel in Europe. We cannot wait to go back.

We had a very enjoyable stay in this beautiful hotel and appreciated the old-school Italian decor and style very much. The staff were all lovely and could not do enough for us. Highly recommended - and it is well worth booking an Exclusive room with a balcony and sea view.

My older daughter and I shared a lovely double room on the second floor with balcony opening directly onto the Mediterranean Sea. The room was spacious, well appointed and with excellent wifi service.
