Beautiful and luxurious hotel with wonderful views of the Ligurian Sea from our room. We enjoyed our stay in a suite with lots of amenities plus a free massage! The staff was very helpful and the hotel was in a great location. We ate in the hotel restaurant which had the best pesto pasta and very nice local wines. The only problem with going in the off season is that the tour boats are not operating. We did take the local bus to Portofino which takes about 15 minutes and Santa Margarita Liguria is within walking distance. This is a nice place to visit without all the tourists.

My cousin and I wanted to get over our broken hearts and also after watching Master of None we wanted to trip around Italy and say ALLORA to everyone we met. We got a soft top car and saved up for an unstoppable trip along the coast which finished at the former casino and now hotel called Excelsior Palace on the Rappalo coastline. Everything about this hotel is just as you imagined, it is steeped in history and all the waiters carry themselves in full three piece garb. The views are to be seen to be believed and other cliches. Honestly, when you're swimming in the ocean below or the infinity pool or getting customised eggs by the chef at breakfast, you really do think you are in some Coppola film. And I loved it. This is something everyone needs to do at least once in their life. And I am so glad I did it with one of my favourite family members.

Wonderful special grand luxury feel hotel. If you want a special break away then this hotel is the one. It's feels very decadent and you feel like your spoiling yourself staying here. The views of the sea are magnificent from all the public areas and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the junior suites (room 606) which had a beautiful balcony looking out to Portofino very very special. The breakfast was fantastic with every taste catered for and plentiful and we had one evening meal in the beautiful restaurant which was absolutely delicious the food and presentation were beautiful again you felt like you were really indulging and spoiling yourself. The staff have customer service at the heart of everything they do and make you feel very welcome and important which is lovely. Special mention to steffano (I think her name was) in the yachting bar she was so attentive and friendly superb service and again at breakfast and evening Lily (I think her name was) works so hard in the restaurant to ensure it runs smoothly very professional service from all in there. And room service is very quick and effecient and something small like a pot of tea is presented beautifully with homemade little biscuits and cakes worth every euro. The hotel is a lovely 5 to 10 minutes stroll down a little hill to gorgeous Rapallo where you will find some lovely waterside restaurants and quite a bustling town centre. We also done the coast walk to santa margherita and portofino about 7km along the front with stunning scenery the whole way beautiful corner of the world loved every minute there and would highly recommend. But the hotel made it a very special trip and a memorable occasion can't recomend enough. Look forward to visiting it again one day hopefully.👌😁
