I really enjoyed our stay, the grounds, the room, etc. it's easily the best option in Rapallo. But for some reason the complimentary breakfast is just awful. I guess you get what you pay for. The hot options are all cold within 2-3 minutes. The hot water for the breakfast tea is tepid at best. The view from the patio is exceptional but the breakfast is merely crummy caloric intake for the day.

Excelsior Palace is exceptional in accommodation and professional staff managing and serving guests. I had my birthday and the manager sent me an invitation to "yachting bar" where a surprise was waiting for me. I appreciate so much the excellence all the way to the end. We will return soon.

Birthday present for my mom, we had a wonderful stay. Staff upgraded my parents to a bigger room with outstanding sea view and offered us drinks to celebrate. Infinite pool overlooking the sea was splendid and we also enjoyed the spa facilities on the second day, raining outside. It was magical and we certainly recommend it! Pure Italian wonder!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Excelsior Palace Hotel. It was one of the few hotels I have stayed in that was actually better than my expectations of it. It was like stepping back in time to an era of glamourous sophistication and extravagance. Often these old hotels are a tired and worn version of what they used to be - not the Excelsior Palace! The hotel is situated within walking distance of Rapallo and is elevated, providing wonderful views of the bay and the surrounding areas. The reception, bar and restaurant areas are beautifully presented and provide an exceptional opportunity to sit, relax and take in the ocean views. The superior double room had sweeping views of the bay and was beautifully decorated in a late 19th century style and could be described as compact but not cramped. The bathrooms were clean, well appointed and beautifully presented. The two pools (one indoor and one outdoor) are situated in the Beach Club which is easily accessed through the hotel via a walkway over the road. Breakfast was served with gorgeous sea views in the elegant hotel restaurant. The breakfast offering was excellent with both continental and cooked options, expresso coffee choices or a glass of champagne! Staff were efficient if not a little stiff. Check in and check out procedures were efficient and accurate. Although a little pricey compared to the rest of Italy, this hotel is a wonderful way to experience the Riviera as one might imagine it to be. Also, this was the only hotel we stayed at in Italy that offered a 'turn-down" service at night. A nice touch that made us feel extra special!
