The position is in the very heart of town, perfect for everything. The building is rich in history and very charmingly restored in the common parts. Yet, the rooms (though very clean) suffer of a 70's-80's renovation style: ordinary square tiles on the floor, plain tapestry (and some pieces missing here and there), rather basic bathroom. So, rooms are more of a 3 star-hotel, and should need some renovating, while the general atmoshpere, the furniture and the style of the common parts deserve the 4 stars. We also found some differences in the attitude of the Staff: some were very professional (the man at the Reception, the cleaning ladies, the staff at breakfast time), while others would need more training on the customers' care. Excellent and varied breakfast served in a marvellous room.

Spent our nights in this charming small hotel in the center of this beautiful city Can not say enough about the exceptional staff. Umberto, the manager/owner is the second or third generation of his family who has carefully preserved and ru. This beautiful old hotel. He has trained his staff exceptional well; the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the reception area has a very nice gathering area and a small bar and the morning breakfast was a feast of fresh options. While there, one of a party had an accident requiring medical attention and an unexpected stay in the hospital. The staff rose to the challenge, and although Umberto was out of town, he and the staff were in constant contact with me (the unofficial tour leader). The injured guest stayed in Reggio for six days for additional medical treatment after the rest of the group left and the staff was so very accommodating and extremely helpful helping them maneuver through the Italian medical system and making new arrangement for their return trip to the USA. This is definitely a city worth visiting and this is definitely the hotel you want to choose.

We have just returned following a six night stay at the Hotel Posta. I was in Reggio Emilia to attend a Study Tour at the Loris Malaguzzi Conference Centre - my second visit to this beautiful city renowned for its early childhood programmes. This time, I was travelling with my daughter and baby grandson. I emailed prior to our visit to check about a cot for the baby and Umberto was prompt and courteous in replying. The Hotel Posta is a special place - one of the oldest hotels in Europe with a truly boutique feel. My daughter and I loved the location (in the heart of the beautiful city centre), the traditional Italian decor and the breakfast served in a wonderfully decorated room. The staff at breakfast are very attentive - making us and the baby feel particularly welcome. The downstairs bar is reasonably priced and again, stylish in decor - a real haven in which to meet friends at the end of a winter’s day. This is your perfect hotel if you don’t want the chain hotel experience - it has it’s own very special character. We loved the Posta Hotel.

I did stay at this hotel for 2 nights and it was really pleasant. Room was clean and nicely warm. Will stay here again. Not too noisy in the evening and I had a great sleep as well. There is a restarant next to lobby which is nice as well for quick snack.

We had a room looking down onto the plaza and totally enjoyed staying here. The breakfast is excellent, the staff very friendly and accommodating. You are close to multiple plazas and shopping. Would definitely stay here again.
