Melenos Lindos in Rhodes, Greece

On his mythical voyage through the Aegean Sea, Ulysses could never have foreseen the magnificent possibilities of a luxury hotel resting gently below the acropolis of Lindos, overlooking the white sand beaches and deep blue waters of the island of Rhodes. This awe-inspiring creation, however, is precisely what has been accomplished with Melenos Lindos. With twelve rooms each offering traditional hand-carved wooden sleep platforms, beautiful hand-painted ceilings, and a fantastic blend of Mediterranean architecture, you are immediately immersed in the culture of classical Greece while still having access to all the modern and technological accommodations desired. Each room also features a private terrace overlooking the azure waters of Lindos, which beckon even the most active of vacationers to sit for a minute and admire the surrounding natural beauty.

To complete the tranquil atmosphere of Melenos Lindos make your way to the rejuvenation area for a massage with natural herbs and oils, or recline in the garden lounge where soft sofa beds - placed enticingly under the sun - are the perfect place to sip a cocktail while sampling gourmet hors d'oeuvres. For those who are excited by history, it is a brief hike up to the acropolis where remnants of the Temple of Athena, built in 300 BC, can be seen within the Fortress of the Knights of St. John. If complete relaxation is what you desire, the resplendent beaches are a quick walk east, and with three to choose from there are options for singles, couples, and families alike. At the end of the day be sure to experience the restaurant at Melenos Lindos, where fresh natural ingredients and the culinary traditions of the Mediterranean will truly delight your palate. If simply tasting this fine cuisine is not enough to satiate, you can participate in a cooking lesson from the head chef and then relax in the open air patio as you enjoy a dinner crafted by your own hand. Whichever path you choose, Melenos Lindos provides a perfect sanctuary for your own personal odyssey through the Greece.

Thank you so much for an excellent stay. The breakfast was delicious. The room was kept clean and the staff were extremely courteous. The location of the hotel was perfect with just walking distance from the beach.

This hotel is in a wonderful position, just 4 minutes walk from a lovely small beach with some very good beach bars and 4 minutes from the centre of Lindos town. All the staff were extremely friendly and very efficient. Breakfast is served outside on the terrace which has spectactular views over the bay and up the coast. A nice touch is that different Greek dishes are offered each day for breakfast. A great start to the day. The rooms are large and all have Lindian beds which may not appeal to everyone but it was fun. Rooms are perhaps a little dark (all have shutters) but this does keep them cooler. We had a very nice small terrace to sit on with views over the bay. The only slight disappointment was the restaurant in the evening - wonderful setting but was too expensive for what was offered - never mind there are many good, reasonably-priced restaurants within a five minute walk. In summary - a wonderful place to spend a relaxing holiday.

From the moment we were met by Maria in the square and escorted (on foot) to the hotel, we realised that Melenos was a special and unique hotel.(Luggage is taken separately) Our room (2) was spacious and very well appointed with a separate dressing area, coffee and tea making facilities a fridge and an excellent shower. ( The complimentary bottle of chilled local wine was appreciated) The Lindian bed was certainly unique! The room was thoroughly cleaned each morning and the evening turn down service was excellent. The outside sitting area with wonderful views of the bay was a lovely place to relax All the staff ( both Maria's and Chris on Reception, those serving breakfast on the terrace, the staff in the roof top dining room and the housekeepers) were truly outstanding. It was a pleasant change to have breakfast served (not a buffet) and we particularly enjoyed sampling different Greek disheseach day. (Eggs and other cooked items are available).

Delicious, sophisticated yet simple fare, local and organic, great wine list and the most lovely view over Lindos Bay as sun set. Very special and nothing to compare in the area. Michalis, the owner, is a delightful gentleman, and all the staff were attentive and smiling.
