Melenos Lindos in Rhodes, Greece

On his mythical voyage through the Aegean Sea, Ulysses could never have foreseen the magnificent possibilities of a luxury hotel resting gently below the acropolis of Lindos, overlooking the white sand beaches and deep blue waters of the island of Rhodes. This awe-inspiring creation, however, is precisely what has been accomplished with Melenos Lindos. With twelve rooms each offering traditional hand-carved wooden sleep platforms, beautiful hand-painted ceilings, and a fantastic blend of Mediterranean architecture, you are immediately immersed in the culture of classical Greece while still having access to all the modern and technological accommodations desired. Each room also features a private terrace overlooking the azure waters of Lindos, which beckon even the most active of vacationers to sit for a minute and admire the surrounding natural beauty.

To complete the tranquil atmosphere of Melenos Lindos make your way to the rejuvenation area for a massage with natural herbs and oils, or recline in the garden lounge where soft sofa beds - placed enticingly under the sun - are the perfect place to sip a cocktail while sampling gourmet hors d'oeuvres. For those who are excited by history, it is a brief hike up to the acropolis where remnants of the Temple of Athena, built in 300 BC, can be seen within the Fortress of the Knights of St. John. If complete relaxation is what you desire, the resplendent beaches are a quick walk east, and with three to choose from there are options for singles, couples, and families alike. At the end of the day be sure to experience the restaurant at Melenos Lindos, where fresh natural ingredients and the culinary traditions of the Mediterranean will truly delight your palate. If simply tasting this fine cuisine is not enough to satiate, you can participate in a cooking lesson from the head chef and then relax in the open air patio as you enjoy a dinner crafted by your own hand. Whichever path you choose, Melenos Lindos provides a perfect sanctuary for your own personal odyssey through the Greece.

Melenos Lindos Hotel is one of the best and more beautiful places i've been in my life. The Service in every area at the hotel is amazing, they are all very polite and they all now how to do their work, everyone has an smile every day and they like what they do. The Rooms are pure class hotel rooms and more than that, everything works perfect and the views of the hotel are unique. The Hotel is in the best part of Lindos Town and you can go by walking to every single place, beach, castle, downtown and clubs/pubs. Personally i would like to say that Michalis Melenos is one of the best hosts i've ever met and all the guys in his stuff offers the best service in Lindos for sure. Thanks everyone in Melenos Lindos Hotel for this amazing family trip!

We come to Lindos every September and we always have an evening at Melenos, what a fabulous place, would love to stay in the hotel but a little expensive for us. One day we will stay here. The food in the restaurant is the best we have had. The steak my husband says is second to none, we also took friends to this restaurant last year and they loved it too.

Lovely hotel, with gracious staff. Each suite has its own terrace, which is is full of various pots of interesting plants and herbs... lovely to get a whiff of mint as you lie snoozing in the chairs... The breakfasts were amazing... so much and such variety of food, and the waiter was lovely. Contrary to a previous reviewer, we thought the mattresses were soooooo comfy. On the hard side, but that's perfect for us! Our suite was rather dark, but I guess the small windows keeps the sun out, so that's probably why they were designed thus. Our suite felt cramped by so much furniture! Ate a dinner at the restaurant, and were not terribly impressed... high prices for food that seemed to be 'trying too hard' (our moussaka came wrapped in that shredded-wheat type stuff, and the lovely waitress said it was because 'some guests had problems with the béchamel...'). One other small gripe... charging 4 euros for a bottle of water seems excessive at these room rates, especially when water is so much cheaper outside the hotel. Despite the fact that the hotel was charming, we will not be coming back to Lindos any time soon, as the beach was absolutely crowded. The sunbeds were so close together, and filled the entire beach, and they were all taken by the time we got down there... The fact that there was no pool at the hotel meant that there was no way to have a dip to cool off, and when temps were pushing 40 degrees C, that was tough!

One of Greece’s most beautiful hotels! Beautiful suites, stunning views, great service and a superb gourmet Mediterranean restaurant. Besides breakfast, which was truly a special treat each morning, we enjoyed several meals at the restaurant. Melenos Lindos Hotel is one of those rare hotels where you can experience luxury of the highest standards in a pleasantly laid-back atmosphere. Thank you for a fantastic visit, we will definitely be back. Surel

We chose the Melons Lindos on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews and we were expecting a lot - we were certainly not disappointed. Extremely friendly, helpful service and a large, beautifully furnished bedroom and bathroom - understated luxury throughout. A small hotel, so service is very personal. As others have noted, the view is just spectacular - opening the shutters in the morning to the sun shining on the turquoise waters of the Med, just beautiful. The hotel has a very good restaurant and is also well located for the town (just a few minutes stroll down the hill) where there are a number of other really excellent restaurants. It's also just a few minutes to the Acropolis (well worth a visit) and down to the beaches - where there are more restaurants! Lindos is only a small town - we stayed for 3 nights and felt that was just about enough time to enjoy what it has to offer, although we could happily have stayed longer being pampered by the Melenos Lindos Hotel. The only downside is battling past the donkeys on the way down to the town in the morning - they're a menace!
