Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
To preside lavishly over one of the world’s most well known beaches, book a penthouse suite at the five-star Belmond Copacabana Palace. Here you’ll have a bird's eye view over the coast, where two million people flock to watch the fireworks each New Year's Eve. Named a cultural patrimony of Rio, the 90-year-old landmark once hosted Marilyn Monroe, The Rolling Stones and Diana, Princess of Wales. It retains a French-inspired feel after a 2012 restoration, and the social scene at the expansive pool is as hot as the Rio sun.
See and be seen on Copacabana’s wide swatch of sand. Give up your white-umbrella-clad throne and return for lunch, a feijoada stew – Brazil's national dish – at the poolside bar. Indulge in a spa treatment that uses white clay from the Amazon. Snag a sake cocktail at celeb chef Ken Hom’s MEE restaurant. Sway to bossa nova with a hot local at the piano bar.

Reviews for Belmond Copacabana Palace
We stayed here in November for 3 nights, part of our trip to south America, largely organized by Monica Tours Peru (reviewed separately). We had an excellent spacious suite on the fourth floor, overlooking the pool and the sea. As we had rain on one of the days, it was good to sit outside, protected from the rain by the overhanging balcony. With its prestigious history, and part of the Belmond group, the staff and service were first class, ready to help with any query, advice and information. The pool is very large, and therefore plenty of room, even when there are a lot of people around the pool. We ate at the Pergula restaurant, which had a very wide selection of food, and very well prepared. We also ate at the Cipriano restaurant. We were told that no reservation was necessary, arrived early to be told that the table we asked for was reserved for somebody. The wine we asked for was not available, there was a lot of hype about each dish they served - the food was good, but certainly not worthy of the high price tag. Apart from that, it is a hotel of great fame, and everything else was very good. Monica arranged a tour of Rio, and that was a great experience, to see after the train climb such amazing views from Corcovado and Pao de AƧucar. Included in our trip was lunch at Carretao restaurant in Ipanema, a traditional buffet of all-you-can-eat, with delicious meats and fish constantly presented to you on skewers etc. This was excellent, and I would highly recommend it for somewhere to eat a little differently.

I stayed for three nights at this hotel and I highly recommend it! I currently work at a five star hotel in Las Vegas at the SKYLOFTS and coming from five stars and working under Forbes I was HIGHLY impressed by this property and their customer service! The hotel was beautiful and the staff felt like family. We were there during Easter weekend and they brought us and our son a special, beautiful chocolate egg. I was not even expecting anything and that really left me with an impression! I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and I am missing it everyday since I have been back home for the past two weeks. I miss this property and beautiful city very much and hope to visit back soon and when I do, I will be staying at this property again! Also, their breakfast is over the top and so exceptional! They have such a variety and it is more than the simple breakfast you could imagine. Over the top service! Thank you Copacobana Palace Team !

We spent 4 wonderful nights at this glamorous hotel. It has been restored to its original look and feels full of fabulous history! If only the walls could talk!! We had a suite overlooking the sea and pool. It was very spacious and had everything that we needed. The staff were all very professional yet friendly and we were very well looked after. Breakfast was very good! We ate at Me which was really outstanding. The service and food was extremely well prepared and very special! We spent time on the beach in the area provided by the hotel. The beach staff were attentive, providing water, cold towels and looking after our bag when we went swimming. If you are going to Rio you must stay here, you will not be disappointed!!

This hotel is a across the road to the beach. Hotel is very elegant and rooms are beautifully decorated. The pool area is huge with lots of room for sunbathing and swimming. The breakfast area is next to the pool and the breakfast food would suit anybody with the variety available. There is more than adequate staff there to help with anything you need. There is a lifeguard at the pool watching for anyone with difficulties There is security in the lobby and staff to help with any questions and to hail taxis.

This is a very nice hotel right on Copacabana beach. It has everything you need. Location, Restaurants, Pool and very good service. It had everything you would expect from a Belmond hotel. The hotel has its own serviced area on the beach.
