Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

To preside lavishly over one of the world’s most well known beaches, book a penthouse suite at the five-star Belmond Copacabana Palace. Here you’ll have a bird's eye view over the coast, where two million people flock to watch the fireworks each New Year's Eve. Named a cultural patrimony of Rio, the 90-year-old landmark once hosted Marilyn Monroe, The Rolling Stones and Diana, Princess of Wales. It retains a French-inspired feel after a 2012 restoration, and the social scene at the expansive pool is as hot as the Rio sun.

See and be seen on Copacabana’s wide swatch of sand. Give up your white-umbrella-clad throne and return for lunch, a feijoada stew – Brazil's national dish – at the poolside bar. Indulge in a spa treatment that uses white clay from the Amazon. Snag a sake cocktail at celeb chef Ken Hom’s MEE restaurant. Sway to bossa nova with a hot local at the piano bar.

Right across the beach, Belmond Copacabana Palace is a historical landmark of Rio. Its restaurants are world famous; especially Mee is wonderful. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and professional.

Being here for the first time after 12 years. All hotel is clearly updated and very well kept. Got disapointed with the guest, as the big majority is kind of tacky, pretending to be what they are not. Early in the morning guests leaving belongings on pools chairs, and for my further disapointment, the staff is estimuliating this behavior.... I was looking for one chair and the staff asked if do have something to leave on the chair..:.. Other than that the hotel is a masterpiece in rio landscape It worths the visit

I honestly preferred to stay in Ipanema rather than Copacabana, but my partner insisted we divide our stay between the two neighborhoods. I have to admit that I'm very pleased we have missed on the service, aura, cuisine and spledid junior suite with ocean view...would have been a poor decision! I must especially cite the incredible service given by Humberto in the front desk area. Humberto seemed to always be ready to go beyond...even in a luxury hotel like this. He, on several occasions, went out of the way to help us with changes in airline reservations, a credit card issue...and on the morning of a 7am departure, a fresh cup of coffee to go even though the breakfast room was not quite set up. WOW! The cuisine at the newly refurbished Pergula Restaurant, with pool view, was better than delicious! Another WOW! I would advise anyone who goes to Rio not to miss this very special hotel if one's budget allows.

Two friends joined me for the Sunday Brunch at the newly renovated Pergula Restaurant. The renovation is fantastic.... relaxed and casual and perfect for a pool-side brunch. Several preparation stations insured that everything was freshly prepared and served hot. Congratulations to Belmond Copacabana Palace for their continued excellence! The Pergula manager, Andre Tokunaga, was very attentive to all the guests. His professionalism and personal charm are outstanding. Our waiter, Goncalves, could not have been more attentive. Never was our champagne glass empty! My visiting English friend said that the pot of English tea was the best since he left England. As always, I found the Belmond Copacabana Palace experience to be the best brunch in Rio. Congratulations to Belmond Copacabana Palace for offering exceptional quality!
